Chapter 158 The Plan Revealed – Part 3
Martin moved the recording to a pen drive and left the apartment. He then got behind the wheel and drove toward the hospital.
Back at the hospital, Bryce was still sitting in the ward watching over Angela. There was no one he could trust at this moment. He patiently waited for Martin to arrive so he could take Angela home. To a new place. A place that would be safe for where.
"Sir, everything is ready," Martin announced as soon as he entered the ward.
"Great," Bryce said and stood up.
He walked to the bed and scooped Angela in his arms. She was still sleeping, and he didn't want to wake her. He made Martin cover her with his jacket since he didn't have one. The trio walked out of the war,d heading towards the exit. They were soon outside, and Bryce got into the car's back seat after safely securing Angela first in the back seat. He had his hand wrapped around Angela, keeping her comfortable.
"Let's go," Bryce said, and Martin put the car into motion.
After a couple of minutes' drive, they arrived at the apartment. Angela opened her eyes once the car had parked in the garage.
"You are awake," Bryce said, and Angela only scanned the environment.
"Where are we?" Angela asked.
"Our new home," Bryce replied, and Martin got out of the car.
He quickly opened the back seat door, and Bryce got out too.
"Our new home?" Angela asked, puzzled as she reached for Bryce's offered hand.
"Yes," Bryce replied and helped Angela out of the car while Martin led the way to the entrance.
"Let's go inside. You need to rest," Bryce said, holding Angela's hand and leading her to the entrance.
Martin unlocked the door, and they entered. There was a staircase just a distance away from the door. They used it and ended up in a hallway. One side of the hallway ends in a dead end, and the other continues to a turn. They walked down the hallway, and the moment they made the turn at the end of the hallway, they were met with a door and two doors. One on the left and one right in front of them. The one in front of them had two windows. Each was on either side of the door. The door opens to a nice porch with some chairs and a swing. From the window, one could see that the porch has a nice, small fence around it.
Bryce and Angela kept looking out the window until they heard Martin unlock the door, which was on their left.
"Home sweet home," Martin said and walked in.
Bryce and Angela followed him in. They found themselves in another small space. Right in front of them is a spiral staircase that connects to an upper floor. Right in front of them, beneath the upper floor, is the living room.
Bryce walked into the living room and scanned the place. Angela smiled, admiring the place.
"That door leads to the kitchen, and the dining area is in that space, too," Martin said, and Bryce stared in the direction he was pointing.
"The bedrooms are upstairs. I managed to move a few things from the old apartment to this place," Martin said, and Bryce just nodded.
"Let's go check it out," Bryce said to Angela. They exited the living room the same way they had entered, using the spiral staircase.
They ended up on the upper floor, and Martin led them to the master bedroom, which was down the hallway. The bedroom door was at the end of the hallway. Martin unlocked the door, and Bryce entered with Angela.
The room was big, with a closet, a study table, a king-size bed, a dressing table and a walk-in closet. Angela sat on the bed while Bryce checked the bathroom. Martin just stood in the middle of the room waiting to hear what Bryce would say.
"It's perfect. Well done, Martin," Bryce said. "Where is your room?" he asked.
"It's at the end of the hallway," Martin replied.
"Okay," Bryce said.
"The workers would arrive tonight," Martin informed him. "I ordered a takeout for this afternoon; dinner would be prepared by the servants," he added.
"That is good," Bryce said.
"Sir, there is something I need to discuss with you two. It's about Mrs Davis and what she has planned," Martin said.
"Okay," Bryce replied and sat down next to Angela.
Martin pulled the chair from behind the study table and sat down. He pulled a device out of his pocket and played the recording to Bryce. Angela was surprised to hear that Mrs Davis was going to use Zora to trap her.
"So she has Zora?" Angela asked, surprised. "I thought she was helping," she said, puzzled by her discovery.
"She made me believe she was my grandma, but I wasn't in any way related to her," Bryce informed Angela, and she looked more surprised.
"This means we need to get Angela's phone number back. We will just play their game," Bryce said. "What is Devon and Susan up to?" he asked.
"I think they are waiting for your reaction after my investigation is done," Martin said.
"Let's deal with Matilda and George. And we will deal with Devon and Susan next," Bryce said. "Let's start with getting Angela's number," he said.
Martin nodded and exited the bedroom.
"Mrs Anderson?" Angela said, holding Bryce by the shoulder.
"I know. She is no longer at the Davis family home," Bryce said, rubbing Angela's hand.
"Great, so where is she?" Angela asked with hope in her eyes.
"We are not sure where she is," Bryce said, and Angela's heart started racing against her chest.
Bryce read the fear that flashed in her eyes, and he hugged her. He felt Angela's tears soaking his shirt.
"Hey, come down. She is missing. We will find her," Bryce tried to calm her.
"What if they did something bad to her?" Angela said in a trembling voice.
"Don't go ahead of yourself. We don't know that yet. Let's just hope she is safe," Bryce said to her. "You need to rest. We know where Zora is, and we will bring her home safely. We will end all of this nonsense, and we will find Mrs Anderson," he said, and Angela just nodded.
Bryce helped her into bed and covered her with the blanket. He sat by her side, and Angela lay on her side facing Bryce and staring straight at nothing.
"Everything would be fine," Bryce assured her and planted a kiss on her temple.
Meanwhile, Martin was out working on getting Angela's phone number. Martin engaged the customer service person with Angela's details, after disclosing and confirming his identity and his relationship with Angela. He filled in the necessary form and signed it. While he was waiting for them to complete the process, he caught sight of Susan leaving the building.
"Was that Susan or I who saw wrong?" Martin said and turned to look at the glass exit, but he saw no one.
Outside, Susan had hurried her steps away from the entrance. She retrieved her phone and called Devon.
"I just saw Martin at AT&T," Susan said as soon as her call was answered.
