Chapter 353 Fuck You!
Chapter 353 Fuck You!
The gunshot exploded through the room.
For one terrifying second, Rebecca thought the bullet had gone straight through Adrian, but then she heard him groan sharply, his entire body jerking violently as the bullet struck his thigh instead.
"Ahhh." He cried out in pain, his knees immediately giving way beneath him as he collapsed heavily onto the floor, the impact sending a sharp cry from Rebecca as she instinctively fell with him.
"Adrian." she screamed, immediately dropping beside him.
Adrian gritted his teeth, one hand instinctively grabbing his wounded thigh as blood quickly began soaking through the fabric of his trousers, his breathing becoming rough and uneven as he struggled against the agonizing pain shooting through his leg.
Rebecca's hands trembled violently as she looked at the wound, panic flooding through her entire body.
"Oh God..." she whispered, tears immediately filling her eyes, and without thinking, she pressed both hands against the wound, trying desperately to stop the bleeding even though her own hands were shaking so badly that she could barely keep them steady.
"Stay still," she pleaded, her voice breaking as tears rolled down her cheeks. "Please, just stay still."
Adrian groaned through clenched teeth, his face twisted with pain.
"Rebecca..." he breathed weakly.
"Don't talk," she whispered desperately, pressing harder against the wound. "Just stay still." She couldn't believe how foolish he could be to allow himself to get shot in her place for the second time, especially after everything that had already happened between them and everything she had told him.
Michael stood a few feet away, watching the scene unfold with an almost amused expression on his face.
A slow smirk appeared across his lips as he shook his head, almost as though he couldn't believe what he was witnessing.
"Love," he muttered quietly, his eyes moving between Adrian and Rebecca, "it really does make people foolish."
He took a slow step toward them.
"It makes them weak too," he added with a sigh.
Rebecca looked up at him through tear-filled eyes, but Michael barely seemed to notice the anger in her expression, as his attention remained focused entirely on Adrian.
"I hate seeing you like this, Adrian," he said, his voice almost sounding sympathetic, although there was something cruel hidden beneath it. "You were supposed to be smarter than this."
Adrian's breathing remained heavy as he glared at him, while Michael sighed again.
"Just let me take Rebecca, and everything will be over," he continued calmly. "You don't have to die here, and she doesn't have to watch you bleed out on this floor," he added.
Adrian's face tightened with pain, but despite the agony running through his body, his eyes remained filled with defiance.
"Fuck..." he groaned weakly, coughing heavily before he could finish his statement.
Michael raised an eyebrow as he waited for Adrian to complete what he was trying to say.
Adrian swallowed hard, gathering whatever strength he had left before finally forcing the words out.
"Fuck you," he groaned with great difficulty causing Michael's smile to disappear slightly.
Adrian continued, his voice becoming weaker, but his determination remaining unmistakable.
"Over my dead body..." he breathed heavily. "You're not touching Rebecca."
Rebecca's tears continued falling uncontrollably as she looked at him, her nose running from crying so hard, her breathing uneven, and tears and mucus streaking down her face, but she didn't seem to care about how she looked anymore.
She simply stared at Adrian in disbelief.
"You're so foolish," she murmured beneath her breath, her voice trembling as she continued pressing against his wound. "You're so incredibly foolish."
Adrian turned his head slightly toward her, his expression softening for a brief moment despite the pain while Michael gave a small, humorless smile as he stared at them.
"If that's what you want," he said quietly, looking down at Adrian, "then I suppose I can give you exactly what you're asking for."
Rebecca's eyes widened.
"Wait..."
Michael raised his gun again, and before Rebecca could react, another gunshot rang through the room.
"AHHHHH." Adrian screamed.
The bullet struck his other leg, and his body jerked violently from the impact.
Rebecca recoiled in horror, falling backward and covering both of her ears as another wave of panic surged through her.
"Stop," she screamed, her voice cracking.
Adrian writhed on the floor, his face twisted with unbearable pain as his hands clenched against the floor, while Rebecca's entire body trembled uncontrollably.
She could barely breathe, the sound of the gunshots kept replaying inside her head, louder than everything else around her, and for several seconds, she couldn't even hear what anyone was saying.
Michael looked down at Adrian with a strange smile.
"Still want to protect her?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Adrian said nothing, he simply struggled to lift his head.
Michael slowly began walking toward Rebecca, while Rebecca, on her part, stared at him, but her eyes were unfocused. Her chest was rising and falling rapidly, her fingers trembling uncontrollably as she tried desperately to catch her breath, but the harder she tried, the more difficult breathing seemed to become.
"Rebecca..." Adrian called when he noticed the state she was in, but she didn't answer, she simply continued staring at Michael, although Adrian could see that she wasn't really seeing anything.
"Rebecca," he called again, his voice strained but just like earlier, she said nothing.
Michael continued walking toward her, and when he was almost within reach of her, Adrian suddenly reached out and grabbed his ankle with one trembling hand, causing him to stop.
He slowly looked down at Adrian's hand wrapped around his leg, then lifted his eyes back toward him.
"You really are pathetic," he muttered with a shake of his head.
Adrian tightened his grip despite the unbearable pain shooting through his body.
"Don't... Please..." he breathed weakly.
Michael stared at him for several long seconds.
"It pains me to do this," he said quietly as he slowly raised the gun again, and Adrian's eyes widened the moment he saw the weapon pointed toward him.
Rebecca barely had time to look up before another gunshot exploded through the room and Adrian's body suddenly went still.
The bullet had hit his chest.
His hand immediately loosened around Michael's leg, his fingers slowly falling away as the strength left his body, his eyes remained open for a brief moment, but the life in them was already disappearing.
