Chapter 332 Help Me Save My Son
Chapter 332 Help Me Save My Son
After leaving Adrian's house, Mrs. Cole did not return home; instead, she turned the other way.
Her mind was still filled with everything the butler had told her, but what troubled her even more was the conversation she had just had with Henry because she could tell from his voice that he knew much more than he was willing to say.
There had been hesitation in his voice, long pauses whenever she asked about Adrian, and an obvious fear behind the way he answered her questions, and she knew her son well enough to understand that whatever Henry was hiding had to be serious.
She had a terrible feeling, call it a parental intuition, that Adrian had gone and done something wrong again, something that could put him in serious trouble, and the thought alone made her heart beat faster.
She couldn't sit at home and wait for someone else to tell her what was happening to her son, she had to do something, and if Henry knew something, then she was going to make him talk.
A short while later, her car pulled up in front of Henry's house. After turning it off, she stepped out almost immediately, closing the car door behind her before walking straight toward the front door with a determined look on her face.
She didn't bother checking the time, though she knew it was already leaning toward late evening, or taking a moment to calm herself because she knew that if she gave herself too much time to think, the worry inside her would only become worse.
When she reached the door, she raised her hand and knocked firmly.
Inside the house, Henry heard the knock and walked toward the door, wondering who could possibly be visiting him at that hour, but the moment he opened it and saw Mrs. Cole standing there, his entire body stiffened as his eyes widened in surprise.
"Mrs. Cole..." he stammered, clearly caught off guard by her unexpected appearance.
But Mrs. Cole didn't respond to his greeting; she simply looked at him for a few seconds before asking coldly, "Are you planning on keeping me standing outside your house?"
Henry immediately realized that she had not come there to exchange pleasantries, and the seriousness in her voice made him step aside quickly.
"No, ma'am, I'm sorry," he said hurriedly as he opened the door wider. "Please, come in."
Mrs. Cole walked inside without another word while Henry closed the door behind her. He stood there for a few seconds with his back against it, he took a deep breath before slowly breathing out. He knew the conversation they were about to have wasn't going to be an easy one. After the call, which he had been surprised she had ended abruptly, he had known that sooner or later, Mrs. Cole was going to find out the truth, but he had hoped that he would have more time before that happened.
When he finally walked towards the sitting room, he found Mrs. Cole already seated on one of the couches, her handbag resting beside her while her hands were folded neatly in her lap. On the outside, she looked calm, but Henry could see the worry in her eyes.
After taking another deep breath and slowly exhaling, he walked toward her. When he got to where she was, he took the seat opposite her while Mrs. Cole turned her attention to him.
"I came here because I know there is still a lot more that you know about Adrian that you don't want to tell me," she said firmly.
Henry remained silent. He looked away, unable to meet her eyes while Mrs. Cole watched him carefully before continuing.
"Henry, I know that you and Adrian are close friends, and I understand that you want to protect your friend, but you also need to understand something." She paused for a moment, allowing her words to sink in before continuing. "I am his mother, and I want to protect him too," she said, the words coming out more gently than the former ones, causing Henry to slowly look back at her.
"You know about Adrian's health issues," she continued, her voice becoming softer. "You know how he gets when certain things happen, and you know how difficult it can be for him to control himself when he becomes obsessed with something or someone."
Henry lowered his eyes again.
"So please, don't hide him from me, and don't encourage him if he is going astray," she pleaded, her voice filled with concern rather than anger now. "If there is something he has gotten himself into, if he has done something wrong, or if there is something serious happening in his life, then you need to tell me." She paused, leaning forward slightly.
"Whatever it is, Henry, I may still be able to help him. I can still find a way to fix things before they become worse, but I cannot do that if everyone keeps things from me," she said, but Henry still remained quiet while Mrs. Cole continued looking at him, her eyes filled with worry.
"I am not asking you to betray your friend," she said gently. "I am asking you to help me save my son."
Those words finally broke through the wall Henry had been trying to keep up. He looked at her for a long moment, and the guilt he had been carrying suddenly became too heavy for him to hide.
He knew she wasn't going to leave until she knew the truth, and more importantly, he could see that she genuinely wanted to help Adrian rather than simply punish him, so he decided to talk.
"There is something you need to know," he finally said.
Mrs. Cole's heart immediately tightened.
"I knew it," she whispered, sitting up straighter. "Tell me."
Henry took a deep breath before he began.
