The other three Runemaster seeds also paused their battles as they started at Alex's stage with wide eyes.

None of them had seen Alex make a move and yet his opponent had been sent flying!

Impossible!

“He cheated, he used a rune equipment!”

Cradling his broken arm the young man that tried to take advantage of Alex started yelling. He found it hard to believe that Alex had defeated him.

The refree frowned for a bit. He too wasn't sure what happened although he was sure that there had been no signs of a weapon being used.

“Alex from Clearsky wind this round!"

Hearing the refree announce the win in favour of Alex the young man couldn't take it anymore and threw a tantrum. At the end of the day he was just a teenager.

I refuse this result, I refuse. He clearly chea…”

“Shut up!”

With a dark face the refree yelled at the young man.

“If you know you aren't capable why did you even come here? If I hear a word againfro you I'll throw you out of the arena!”

Reluctantly the young man kept quiet and the competition resumed.

However the way everyone looked at Alex changed. From the initial mockery they had it had turned to wariness.

Jason on the other hand looked as if he had eaten shit.

Back when he was in highschool Alex had always come on top of him in everything. With Alex awakening the light element he thought it would be his time to shine however, this happened!

Will I ever be able to beat him!

The moment he thought about this he clenched his fist hard. There was no way he could lose to a trash like Alex! He must have used some petty tricks.

Alex on the other hand was also shocked although for another reason.

“Wasn't that too overpowered?
Looking at his legs and hands he found it hard to believe what just happened.

While others might not know, what he used was just one of the one star spells of the light element : Dash.

It's function was very simple: allow the user to travel at ten thousandth the speed of ligh combining that with the spell Light rampart he was able to ram the young man off the stage even before he could know what happened.

Before he could think further another person quickly climbed the stage.

This time the person had a very fiery aura around him indicating that he was a fire element Runemaster. There was a serious expression on his face.

“My name is Ethan from the Draken academy, I beseech your guidance.”

Smiling, Alex glanced at the new opponent.

“Alright let's party!”

As the last person flew away from the stage the store arena faded into silence.

The most impossible thing had just happened.

The trash from Clearsky had beaten every challenger up!

Looking at the group of students lying on the ground below Alex's arena Jason felt like his eyes were playing tricks against him.

“We've entered the semifinals, congratulation to the three remaining challengers and the new Challenger for making it this far.”

Looking at the four youth the refrees eyes lingered on Alex a bit before he continued.

“Next you guys will battle each other and the final victors will challenge each other to determine the final victors and the winner of this year's tournament of the strongest!”

Immediately he said this the four arenas suddenly started to merge.

Alex's arena merged with the girl from the Eternal frost academy while Jason's merged with the new Challenger, a young man from another top academy.

My name is Freya, too student from the Eternal frost academy. I gave a question, what exactly is tku element?”

Facing Alex, the girl from the Eternal frost academy couldn't hide the surprise on her face and same went to the spectators.

This kid was the exact definition of a dark horse as he had gone beyond everyone's expectations. Each of the challengers had been throughout beaten by him even when it looked like he was up against a powerhouse!

“Of course my element is the light element! Normally I wouldn't tell my secret out no matter who they are but seeing that you're a beauty and not some stinky fire hose I'll tell you if you can beat me.”

Everyone burst into laughter as they understood that the fire hose Alex was referring to was

“Fine by me.”

While Freya didn't believe that Alex's element was the light element there was nothing she could do of he refused to tell her.

Well wouldn't she know when they started to fight?

Taking a fighting stance she quickly backed off from Alex. From how unpredictive his attacks were it was obvious that the best option was to create enough distance from him.

Looking at the steps Freya took the refree nodded, it was obvious that this girl was battle savy.

“Start!”

Immediately he gave the signal Freya quickly raised her hand as a blue rune flashed a over her head followed by an extremely chill.

Instantly a later of thin ice crystals formed on the battle stage.

“Ice phoenix:Gaze of the diety!”

With a light yell Freya changed the last part of her spell. The next moment it was as if the entire sky suddenly started freeze, before Alex could move he discovered that his legs were covered by a thick layer of ice freezing him to the floor.

Raising his head he was surprised that Freya could even hold him back.

But that was all only surprise.

“You tried but….if that's all you've got it's over.”

Saying this Alex raised his hands as a faint golden light appeared on his legs the next moment the ice covering his feet melted like they had encountered a flame. Raising his hand a glowing ball of light that was emanating incredible heat appeared in his hands.

“Ninesuns first form!”

Raising it above his head he tossed out outwards like a baseball.
Seeing that Alex had broken free from the restraints hold her spell Freya's irisis turned into pinpricks.

Worthy of her reputation as a genius she quickly chanted another spell to create a barrier that was nearly a meter thick.

However when the ball of light touched the wall it instantly shattered!

“You've lost!”

Chapter 9: Final battle!

Saying this the ball of light stopped in front of Freya. She could feel the extreme heat emanating from the seemingly gentle ball leaving her wondering what would happen if the ball touched her.

Taking back the ball of light Alex gave Freya a smile.

“Freya from eternal frost has list to Alex Xanders from Clearsky academy!"

The moment the refree said this there was no sound only silence.

Who was Freya?

While Jason was not a native of the imperial capital Freya was!

She was a member of the famous Lacerta clan whose members were all ice Runemasters plus she was also the top student of the Eternal frost academy yet she had lost!

Seeing the outcome of the battle between the two Jason couldn't believe his eyes. This lapse in judgement caused his opponent to slam him aside with his earth element spell.
“How dare you!"

Infuriated, Jason launched a full barrage against the poor guy leaving him with no choice but to eventually give up.

With only two participants left ot was finally time for the finals!

“Before the final battle would you like to rest?"

" No.”

As if they had both agreed to it previously the two of them answered at the same time while simultaneously glancing at each other.

“Alright then, the finals have officially started!”

Like with the semifinals the two arenas merged together to create a bigger, wider arena.

“Last month I said you'll kowtow to me and I'll make sure you can't escape that fate!”.

Gritting his teeth Jason glared at Alex

“Well we'll see if you even have that ability.”

Standing at the opposite ends both Alex and Jason lolled at each other sparks flying in the air. The next moment they moved.

“Flame of the dragon god!"

" Holy light shield!”
