Chapter 91 🐉

Iris had headed straight to the Temple of the Supernatural to pray for her husband's victory and seek help from Şekileus. She had desperately wished for Y's end. For many centuries, only the thought of one day killing her foster brother slowly one day, was what had kept her going. And now she was in a place where her husband had to fight her war.

Of course, Y had threatened to eradicate anyone who came in his path or stood against him, and Dom, being the Alpha King of all shifters, had the responsibility to fight for them. And she knew he would do a fine job defeating Y. It still did not help her tortured soul that had wanted revenge for so long and also desired to avenge the fallen innocents for the last millennium at Y's psychotic hands.

Freddie was still MIA. The death of his sister had broken him. The pain of losing the only blood relative he had and that too, in such a horrifying way, had done a number on him. Casualties are a part of war. But sweet, shy, and kind Isabella did not go to war. She was helping Y's victims and other poor shifters. He had blamed himself just as much as Dom, for allowing her to go to the Temple, instead of keeping her with him.

Liliana could feel the immense Dragon presence that had been weighing the dungeon, lessen. She had no idea if it was a way to punish her by further isolation or if the war that everyone awaited was finally here and her brother had gone to fight the war that she helped wage. She whimpered as the beast inside her wished for a release, but she wanted to punish it for the image it created of her. She had nothing else to do but reflect and think if her connection to her animal hadn't been broken, where would she be now? Would she have made the same choices? Maybe she'd found a mate, too. That could have definitely helped her emotionally, in a way that no therapy could.

Carlisle had arrived after gathering the Vampire fraction on their side after the initial message was sent about open war. Dom was not in the mood to act as host and losing his beta was like losing the support of his family, and he felt like he had to go to war without his right hand or with his dragon's wings clipped.

Alpha Alaric, being the first Werewolf to bend the knee to the Alpha Crown, was anointed in charge of the battlements. The only thing they were all content about was that at least their families and children would be safe once they met Y at his chosen battleground.

Elijah had been trying his best to support his son and help him make the right decisions, taking as much help from his experience of war as he could. But that time it was a battle for power. This time, it was the need to put down the tyranny of a maniac with questionable goals. The strategies had to be shifted accordingly.

Master Aikis had gathered all the covens under his ancient leadership. Nora was one of the newer witches under his wing and could barely concentrate on anything except that her husband could've flown into any possible trap in his grief and her not having an animal meant no mind-link to connect to him.

It was noon. The sun was at its apex and glaring at the creatures gathering to murder so many of their own and other species on the tiny planet in the solar system.

The battleground that Y had chosen was strategically placed away from any huge water body, forest, or mountains. It made sure none of the witches could use any of those elements against them. The humid plains were expected to help the wolves distract the dragons, as the humans in the tall grasslands shot SHS to even the field.

With the treacherous revolt of Mage Vedma, Waai had lost all magical support. The effects of his final dose of the glittery potion would soon begin to dwindle. He needed the war to end as soon as possible to make the witches newly under his victorious command, to make him another batch and get ready for his immortality ritual.

Waai was excited, but unlike in the utopia, he was more cautious and had learned his lesson to never underestimate the McBlazes.

That is why when he got the news of Dom arriving without Iris, he was enraged.

He had expected to end everything and everyone and begin his reign on the new world. But now, he might have to kill the Dragon and scour the planet for the tribrid. Still, it was a minor inconvenience to his plans. He needed to be focused to be able to pull off the tricks he had under his sleeve.

Dragons were the first to reach the battleground. After that, the witches could use their magic to teleport the rest of the army in batches. Dom and Elijah assessed the situation. It was exactly how it had been predicted. Seemingly the terrain was on Y's side.

As the batches of his army appeared, Elijah made Dom ready to give a speech to motivate them one last time.

As the final few arrived, Dom took a deep breath.

But nothing came out as his eyes moved across the people, so different from each other, but had all put their trust in him to lead them to a safer, more peaceful future. They were all ready to sacrifice themselves if it meant their children could grow up in a world that did not have a maniac like Waai in it.

'All these people are depending on me, Little Wolf.' He mind-linked to Iris who was only a couple of hours away from him.

'I trust you because Şekileus chose you to lead these people. Have some faith in you.' Iris tried to support him as much as the distance would allow them.

'I don't know what to say to them. I'm leading so many of these to potential deaths.' He confided his fears through the mind-link.

'Truth is the most powerful weapon of all. Weild it and the war is yours.' Iris softly advised.

'I love you.' He said, as if saying it for the last time.

'I'll say it back when you serve me Waai's head. It had better be soon. Don't make me wait.' She joked to ease him but could barely control the sob that was about to leave her, because she knew he was going to be the center of attention and main target. No one, despite all the precautions, knew how long he could last against Y's attacks.

'Little Wolf, if I don't make it-' Dom was cut off as Iris boomed in his head, 'Alfonso Dominic McBlaze, don't you dare! Don't you dare.' She didn't need to end that threat and she neither could as she broke down, feeling torn between the need to go fight beside her husband or protect their unborn child.

Dom looked at his army once again, everyone was ready and awaiting orders. Elijah had guessed what was going on and had tactfully been silent, allowing Dom a final conversation with his mate before the war.

Dom made use of the power Şekileus had granted him after his coronation, which connected Dom with every shifter and thus made sure everyone in his army could hear when he said,

"Fellows, Brothers, and Sisters. There is nothing I can say right now that you don't already know. Waai is crazy. Expect the unexpected. Don't let his surprises baffle you. Remember what is at stake. Don't forget why we are doing this. We won't let that psychopath take our children's peace and future from them! Let's finish this!"

There were howls and screams of courage everywhere.

Dom gave the order to shift, as all the shifters allowed their animal to take over.

Waai could hear the howls of the treacherous werewolves as well as the screeches of the Dragons, who just needed to come only a mile or so closer to walk right into his SHS traps.

Waai waited patiently as Dom leading his army was sighted. His giant black Dragon was backed by many more of different sizes and colors. All flying terrifyingly towards where Y had set his traps.

They entered the SHS range and Y waited with a satisfied smirk, decorating his pale face. He allowed Dom's army to get as close as possible to gather as many victims as possible. And then, the order was given.

The surprise attack of SHS was fired from everywhere. They hit every dragon and werewolf multiple times.

The vampires did their best to run at their top speed to dismantle the SHS guns, but it was expected because Y had known of many vampires siding with Dom and had taken care of that too.

Dom got the first hit of SHS and Elijah's heart sank.

**Author's note:

Dom has been hit. What will happen now? Y seems totally prepared despite being at his wit's ends. How will the war turn out?**
