Chapter LVII
Maria,
I just wanted to understand why Alex hates his uncle. Why? Right now, he's arguing with him and starts revealing some truths while Rosa and I just listen.
"I'll never forget the day you killed my aunt! What's your problem?!" his uncle exclaims.
"Look here, kid! You're already 23, an adult who should understand things!" his uncle replies, and my blood starts to boil. I don't like them raising their voices to Alex. "I didn't do it intentionally! You know I've had this werewolf transformation for years, and yet you keep judging me!"
"You always hated her, not just because of being a werewolf! You acted this way after she started prohibiting you from smoking and drinking! I witnessed it all!"
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like this?!"
"Enough, both of you!" I said, and they both looked at me. "Why fight like this? Why not come to an agreement?"
"Sorry, Maria, but that's not going to happen," Alex responds. "He killed my aunt, and no one will bring her back. I'll never forgive him! Never!"
I see his uncle about to advance towards Alex, but Rosa and I stand in front of him, preventing it.
"I said we should come to an agreement and not end up wanting to hit someone," I said with authority, and his uncle decides to leave.
Suddenly, he transforms into a werewolf and disappears from our sight as he turns away.
I confess I'm impressed with what I witnessed. Can Alex's uncle transform into a werewolf whenever he wants? Anyway, I look at Alex, and he seems colder now. I don't know what happened, but I decided to ask him.
"Alex, are you okay?" I inquired as I approached him.
"I am."
"What a lie. We know you're not okay," Rosa replied bluntly.
I confess I wanted to laugh, but I decided not to, especially because my boyfriend is suffering right now, especially because of what just happened a while ago.
"Alex, sit here," I indicated a rock for him to sit on, and Alex decides to do so.
I also sat on a rock near him, and Rosa does the same. At this moment, we were all gathered, and I wanted to know what happened on that day when Alex lost his aunt.
"I'm ready," I said.
"For what?" Alex seemed confused.
"To know about your past."
Alex looked at me as if he didn't like hearing that. I know he had many things to tell me, especially since apparently, his family has connections with werewolves. However, I couldn't help but notice that day when he lost his aunt.
"Well, my aunt died when I was ten," Alex began to recount the incident. "She always told my uncle to stop using drugs, and every time he did, he became more aggressive and more active. He never hit my aunt, but he would ask to make love to her all the time, and that made her very tired. There came a moment when she told him more than once to stop using those drugs and started telling him some truths. However, my uncle didn't accept it and turned into a werewolf. That day, we discovered he had this gift, but after he killed my aunt, he was never seen again. He called to apologize, but we felt anger towards him because my aunt was someone special and worked hard to keep the family together. Today, that's not happening anymore, and I still resent my uncle until now."
As Alex spoke, tears fell from his face. I decided to hug him and pat his back.
"It must be painful not to have your aunt around, isn't it?" I inquired. "I know how it is, but in my case, it's my parents. Unfortunately, you won't see them either."
And we stayed like that until a few more minutes passed.
