Chapter 97 Appealing Satisfaction
Chapter 97 Appealing Satisfaction
“I reckon we need a chair for this,” Zeibar said.
He seemed to be enjoying himself more than anyone here.
“Do you think I'd last that long though?” Abel asked.
“Knowing Ali, she's going to want to drag the fight as long as she can,” Zeibar replied, exhaling heavily.
My gaze traveled back to the center of attention. Alia, she leaned against the wall, eyes closed. Then to Gabriel and the captain.
Alia had asked that he'd rest while his wounds were being taken care of. She said and I quote. “I won't feel satisfied if I win by beating up an injured man”
The girl had honestly started to grow on me in a way. She was crass but deep down she had a good heart, for an intruder… we all knew he didn't deserve that much and still…
“Are you alright?” Ronan asked suddenly.
I stared at him then back to the fighters. “Will she be okay?”
He turned to stare at me in surprise.
I pouted in annoyance. “What? I mean can't we do anything about it?”
Truth be told, I was worried about them both, but the captain knew what he was getting himself into… if he died. It was an inevitable feat and I'd already resigned myself to that fact.
“You should be more worried about the captain, seeing as his chance of survival is below zero. Even in top form, he's nowhere near Alia. Although Alia may be willing to spare him… but Zeibar wouldn't.” He paused to stare at me, deeply, and I found that I couldn't take my eyes off his.
“And I hate to break it to you Fenton but my hands are tied seeing as I'm not the master of this house and neither was it my pride that was trampled on… even though it was, I'm likely to do the same thing Zeibar would. After all, it's how we were raised.”
Finally he turned away from me and I did too. My gaze landed on Zeibar and I noticed he was already staring at Ronan with an odd expression on his face.
“He's ready Sir” Gabriel said, staring at Ronan, Ronan nodded his head and the signal for the fight began.
Alia pushed off the wall and stood facing the captain, the captain did the same.
My heart pummeled in my chest, eyes glued to the two fighters as they took their stance. Neither looked afraid of the other, they just stared, eyes hard.
“Are you both ready?” Gabriel asked, and they both nodded.
“Fight”
Alia moved, the captain took a slow step back, then lunged forward… catching her mid-sprint, his fingers curled around her throat and he threw her to the wall with deadly precision.
I flinched, closing my eyes instinctively as her back connected to the wall with a resounding thud.
I gingerly opened them again to notice, she was already getting up. She groaned in annoyance, twisting her neck from side to side to relieve the strain.
Blood trickled down her face and she wiped it off with an amused look in her eyes.
She stepped forward, this time the both of them stood at each end, circling themselves. “I didn't think you had it in you to go all out on a girl captain”
“You sell yourself short, Miss Garland, even though everyone knows you're not some girl…. In all my years of experience, I had never been foolish enough to underestimate any of my opponents, even if they're a kid. And I'm not about to start now, not when the one standing before me is the restricted one, Alia Garland.”
“Restricted?” I echoed, in confusion.
She tsked lightly, then pursed her lips in annoyance. “This is all your fault Zee” she shouted.
Zeibar rolled his eyes and tapped his feet impatiently, “just get it over with will you.”
She groaned and lunged towards the captain, this time his right fist connected with her face, I winced at the sound of bones breaking, my heart ached for Alia and I expected to see her tossed across the room… but instead the captain's face squeezed in pain as he struggled to pull his hand back.
She held his arm tightly, then raised her head, grinning in delight, blood dripping down every corner of her face. She raised her right hand and drove her elbow against his forearm, a loud snap sounded, paired with the captain's loud cry.
He staggered back, clutching his hand, face twisted in pain.
Alia swished the blood around in her mouth, then spat it out. Two teeth hitting the ground. All the while her eyes gleamed with satisfaction as though she truly was enjoying herself.
She didn't give him breathing space, pouncing on the captain again, she delivered a devastating barrage of blows and the captain could only go on defense, using his one good arm to protect himself.
She moved back suddenly, then lunged forward again, faster, she twisted her body mid-air, then back down… forcefully slamming her heel against his head.
The captain though was quick to defend and he wisely decided his injured arm was his best bet to take the blow, since it was an expected attack, he only groaned in response, forcing down the pain.
She charged again, this time going for a roundhouse kick to the side of his head, the captain was quick to defend.
Or so we thought.
Alia's eyes widened in surprise as the captain's fingers wrapped around her leg tightly, he swung her body to the ground effortlessly.
The sudden onslaught made Alia cough up blood, as she gasped for air desperately… but the captain wasn't done. He raised her small body up and threw her to the wall. Hard.
The wall broke on impact, debris came flying everywhere as her body slumped to the ground.
Silence clung to every corner of the room, Finley and Nicole looked stunned just as I was. Marco looked deeply disturbed, his brows furrowed in confusion. Gabriel… for the first time, he actually looked worried, although he tried to hide it behind his hard expression, I could see the fear in his eyes. Ronan… on the other hand looked indifferent, his arms folded over his chest, gaze taut.
And Zeibar… that fact that his sister looked to be in a bad condition made me confused, as to his bored expression.
