Chapter 96 Captain & Students
Chapter 96 Captain & Students
It felt like butterflies were dancing in my stomach and my damn perverted mind wouldn't stop pushing images.
“Why are you naked Fenton?” He asked, voice strained.
I stared at him in surprise. “Err… it's half naked Sir” I mumbled.
“The position you put yourself in, is deeply unbecoming of a woman”
Woah. Woah. Woah.
Why did someone suddenly stink of misogyny? Last I checked it was my body, I can do whatever the hell I want with it.
“I'm sorry Sir, the service of my shirt was used to administer first aid,”
What? Of course I wasn't going to stupidly open my wide mouth and spill out my brain's contents was I?
“Captain” Josiah shouted, running towards the slumped man. She knelt beside him and touched his neck, checking to see if he was alive.
She exhaled, once she found out he was fine, then her gaze turned towards us, eyes burning with anger.
“Who's this one?” Zeibar asked.
“My name is Josiah and I'm a Jew, a proper man should learn to address a lady properly” she spat.
Damn… I had to applaud her confidence honestly but then the girl was a kid, she probably didn't know how to read a room.
“So… you're one of the intruders” he deadpanned and slowly walked towards her, stopping just a few inches away from her.
He didn't speak.
He just stared at her and she stared back with equal fervor, it didn't take long until she started to feel it.
Her hard gaze broke, giving way to fear.
“Is this one a Jew too?” Alia asked.
Everyone's gaze moved to the lady I and Nicole fought, Cassy as Josiah said her name was. By now she was already waking up. Her eyes fluttered open, moving from one person to another. By the time they landed on Josiah and the captain, her eyes shrouded with anger.
She moved away from us speedily.
“Is the.. captain okay?” Cassy asked, her voice sounded dull from disuse.
Josiah nodded.
Her gaze moved over everyone again, like a predator assessing its prey. More like a wounded dog that had been cornered.
She took her stance, ready to charge.
I shook my head in protest, ready to tell her to stand down but it was too late.
She moved.
Alia did too.
Cassy didn't even take two steps before Alia descended on her like a plague.
She slammed her palm over Cassy's face and brought her body to the ground with surprising strength.
“No” Josiah screamed, trying to get to Cassy but Zeibar dragged her back by her hair.
Cassy gasped loudly and rolled over, coughing up blood.
“You should eat more Jew” Alia said, staring at her pitifully. “You’re far too skinny, don't they feed you guys in the Jew house or whatever?”
“Leave them alone” a voice said, we all looked over to see the captain trying desperately to stand up. “Please” he said, eyes pleading. “Let my girls go, please”
“Huh… aren't you a captain, you should stand up and fight, not grovel and beg like some weakling” Alia sneered, walking towards him.
Zeibar let go of Josiah and she crumpled to the floor in a shaking mess.
“We do not wish to fight anym-”
“Cut the crap” Alia screamed. “You invaded our home with the thought of obliterating us and the moment you notice you and your spineless students are no match for us, you decide it's better to beg to reach into the goodness of our hearts” she paused, chest heaving in anger.
“News flash… there ain't any goodness in our hearts” she said, with an eerie smile on her face. “You have only two options, you fight for the slim chance of your survival and that of your students or you die without a fight..” she scrunched up her face at the idea of no fight. “Personally I like the former, so captain… which will it be?”
Silence descended upon the room like hailstones and I found myself stuck in a mental battle between logic and morality.
In hindsight… Alia wasn't wrong but still… seeing the captain like that made me feel odd.
“What about the rest of my crew?” The captain asked, standing up straight.
“Dead.” Alia deadpanned. “Do you have any more students within them? Asides these two that is” She asked.
“No… the rest are supporters”
“Good” she looked relieved, a strange contrast to the kind of person I presumed her to be.
“Do I have to fight you all?” He asked.
“Seriously?” Alia asked with a brow raised. “You wouldn't even have zero percent if you had to”
He exhaled heavily. “ Even if I lose… will you still let my students go?”
Her gaze hardened slightly, she stared at Josiah and Cassy.
“Brother?” She called.
“Hmm… What do you think, Roe?” Zeibar asked. “Frankly, I couldn't care less if they're all dead,” he shrugged.
Yeah… I wasn't surprised.
“Leave” Ronan commanded, staring at Josiah and Cassy.
Their eyes hardened with doubt.
Josiah opened her mouth to disagree but her captain beat her to it. “It's alright Josie” he said, touching her arm softly… her eyes moistened and she shook her head softly.
“Please…” she begged.
“Josiah,” he thundered. “Cease your crying this instant” she blinked, stunned momentarily. “You are a Jew, you will not cry like some helpless civilian…” his eyes softened, “and besides, you're both still young, you have a whole life ahead of you to waste on the stupid mission I shouldn't have accepted”
He lowered his head in grief. “It's all my fault, for bringing you two into this and for being such a weak captain that I couldn't even protect my own students.”
I felt bad… I felt worse than bad… it suddenly felt like we were the villains in this story.
“Cass,” the captain called, raising his head.
Cassy stood up slowly, coming to stand in front of them. “Captain” she croaked.
“Take Josiah and leave” he ordered.
She nodded then knelt down and pulled Josiah up, she didn't resist… she stood up quietly, like a death row inmate quietly accepting her faith.
They slowly moved away, walking towards the exit. Josiah turned around quickly.
“Do you give your word that you all will not gang up on him once your side starts to lose?” She asked, eyes hard with determination.
“Does it matter?” Zeibar asked, with a bored expression.
“That was not the answer Sir, I need to be certain my captain will fight with the person of your choosing… fair and square”
“I give you my word that your captain will die in a fair manner, by my very own hands” Alia said, pride evident in her voice.
“You're all so certain you'd win,” Josiah smiled. “You must not know the captain of the 10th Jewish Warrior division, Johnson Reverend, and he will not die… not when he knows we're waiting for him”
Everyone stared in silence as they both turned back and walked out.
“Your students think highly of you, be sure not to let their hopes die so easily at least… give me a battle I can relinquish for a while” Alia said, smiling.
