Chapter 99 Easy honey
It was playful this time before he started heading toward the stairs.
Halfway to the stairs, he glanced back. Alex was still standing there, watching him like he was something precious
Lucas barely made it to the foot of the stairs before swaying.
“Whoa,” Alex rushed and caught him instantly, sliding an arm firmly around his waist. “Easy baby.”
Lucas laughed softly, embarrassed. “Okay, maybe I’m still a little tipsy.”
“A little?” Alex muttered, but there was no irritation in it now, only concern. Instead of letting him attempt the stairs alone, Alex guided him carefully upward, one step at a time. Lucas leaned heavily into him, warm and pliant, his fingers gripping Alex’s shirt for balance.
By the time they reached the bedroom, Lucas’s steps were uneven again.
“I just need to shower,” Lucas murmured, already tugging weakly at his shirt.
Alex moved quickly. “Don’t rush.”
But Lucas did and nearly slipped when he tried to step into the bathroom.
Alex reacted on instinct, pulling him close to steady him. In the process, he stepped into the bathroom fully with him.
The air shifted again. Steam soon filled the glass enclosure as Alex turned on the water. Lucas leaned back against the tiled wall, letting the cool water hit his shoulders. He closed his eyes, exhaling.
Alex stayed close, too close to leave now. “Stand still,” Alex murmured gently, reaching to help him peel off his damp shirt. There was nothing hurried about the movement. Nothing greedy but care.
Lucas opened his eyes and looked at him. Not teasing, not defensive, just open.
To Alex’s surprise, he pulled him closer under the shower. “Stay with me. The water is so cool.”
He encircled his arm around Alex’s waist. Alex cooperated, holding him steady to prevent him from staggering.
Water rolled down Alex’s hair, tracing the sharp lines of his face. His shirt clung slightly to his skin. He wished he could peel it off to feel Lucas’s skin on his but he clearly wasn't planning on rushing him and risking Lucas slipping again or even running off.
“If you don't want to stay…,” Lucas started quietly.
Alex’s hand rested at Lucas’s waist to keep him steady. “I do want to stay.”
The steam thickened around them, blurring the world outside the glass. For a moment, they just stood there under the water, inches apart.
Lucas lifted his hand slowly and brushed droplets from Alex’s cheek. His fingers lingered.
“You looked so angry tonight,” Lucas whispered.
“I was terrified,” Alex corrected softly.
Their eyes locked. The intensity wasn’t physical but it was emotional and raw.
“I keep thinking,” Alex began, his voice lower now, vulnerable. “If I had arrived five minutes late.”
Lucas shook his head gently and placed his palm flat against his chest. “But you didn’t.”
Water streamed between them, cool and steady.
“I don’t want to lose you or have you getting hurt,” Alex confessed. The words came out unguarded, almost boyish in their honesty. “Not by someone else, not to your anger or to your need to run from me.”
Lucas’s expression softened completely. “You’re not losing me,” he said, stepping closer and placing his head on his chest. “I went to the bar because I was overwhelmed by the stupidity of my heart. My silly heart betrayed me and I succumbed to your kiss at the restaurant. Not that I wanted someone else but because I was supposed to punish you for caging me with your silly contract.”
Alex’s hand slid from Lucas’s waist to the line of his back, caressing, steady but not possessive.
“You know, when he kissed me…” Lucas continued, voice trembling slightly, “I didn’t feel anything. I just felt confused. And then I wished you were there to save me.”
Alex’s breathing deepened at that. Lucas tilted his head up, their faces inches apart. “I always wish it were you.”
The confession hung between them, heavier than the steam.
Alex leaned in slowly this time, giving Lucas space to pull away but he didn’t. Their lips met under the cascade of water…slow, warm, lingering, no urgency, no dominance, just reassurance.
Alex’s thumb traced along Lucas’s jaw as he kissed him softly again. Lucas’s hands rested against Alex’s neck caressing, holding on, not from weakness, but from closeness.
When Alex deepened it slightly, emotion rising again, Lucas smiled against his mouth.
“Easy, honey” Lucas whispered playfully, brushing his nose lightly against Alex’s. “You’re doing it again.”
“Say that again,” Alex whispered.
“What?” Lucas pretended.
“You said something easy just now,” Alex said and leaned in for another kiss.
Lucas kissed him back but when he started pushing harder, Lucas pulled back and whispered, “Easy honey.”
Alex smiled and let out a quiet breath of a laugh. “Baby, I like the sound of that. But your sweetness makes it hard for me to take it easy.”
Lucas chuckled softly and caressed his cheek. “Then don’t rush it, learn my pace. Okay, honey.”
“Okay, baby.” Alex smiled feeling so excited that the storm was over.
They rested their foreheads together, water sliding down their temples.
“I love you, baby,” Alex said suddenly without drama or hesitation.
Lucas blinked but only for a second and smiled. Caressing his neck and hair closer to it, he whispered, “I know and I love you too honey.”
The shower continued to run, steam curling around them as they stood eyes locked in warmth and quiet intimacy. This time, it wasn't burning or chaotic. But felt like just two hearts steadying each other under falling water.
With that understanding, Alex leaned in and Lucas was waiting as he captured his lips in another kiss and Lucas was ready to explore more, his response meeting Alex’s pace.
Suddenly, Lucas gasped, Alex’s restraint snapped, and he went deeper, not frantic, but deliberate. His hand slid from Lucas’s back down to the curve of his hip, fingers tightening slightly as if grounding himself in something real.
Lucas gasped softly into Alex’s mouth. The sound alone nearly undid Alex.
Water cascaded down their bodies, heat building between skin and skin. Lucas’s hands moved from Alex’s shoulders to the back of his neck, fingers threading into damp hair, pulling him closer.
Alex stretched his hand and turned off the tap. Their chests pressed together fully now. There was no more space, no more walls, just warmth from their bodies.
Alex’s lips trailed from Lucas’s mouth to his jaw, then lower to his neck, where he paused, breathing him in before pressing slow, lingering kisses against his wet skin. Each one deliberately lingering. Each one saying what words couldn’t.
Lucas tilted his head back, exposing more of himself to him.
“Alex…” he whispered, voice softer, desire threaded through it.
Alex lifted his gaze, eyes dark with need “You said take it easy,” he murmured against Lucas’s throat.
Lucas gave a breathless laugh. “I did.”
“And?”
“I think I need to see a doctor, my body is reacting much to your touch.”
Alex stared at him in surprise. “Baby it's normal, you don't need a doctor. It's called sexual desires. Are you trying to get me to stop?”
