Chapter 104 Irresistible
Alex kissed him back immediately, his arms sliding around Lucas’s back as he pulled him closer. The kiss deepened naturally, warm, slow, and full of the sweet affection that had grown between them overnight.
For a moment the world seemed to disappear. When they finally pulled apart, Alex rested his forehead lightly against Lucas’s and cupped his cheek.
“Baby…” he whispered softly.
Right at that moment his phone buzzed loudly on the bedside table.
Alex groaned under his breath and muttered with a crooked smirk, “Damn… joy killers.”
Lucas burst into a small laugh and gently untangled himself from Alex’s arms.
“Time to shower,” he said, sliding off the bed.
The phone buzzed again. Alex glanced at the screen. It was Margaret.
He sighed and picked it up.
“Yeah, Margaret?”
Her voice immediately launched into a reminder about the meeting he had scheduled that morning concerning a project proposal. Alex half-listened, answering with short responses while rubbing his eyes.
By the time he ended the call, Lucas had already disappeared into the bathroom. A moment later the sound of running water filled the room.
Alex stood up from the bed and stretched his arms high above his head, his muscles loosening.
“Menh,” he muttered to himself with a quiet chuckle, “you’re becoming lazy. Haven’t worked out in days.”
He rolled his shoulders and glanced toward the bathroom.
A mischievous smile slowly crept across his face. “Well… maybe I should go tease someone.”
With that thought, he walked quietly toward the bathroom door, already imagining Lucas’s surprised reaction.
But the moment he tried the handle, it was locked.
Alex stopped. Then he chuckled under his breath. “I didn’t see that coming, baby,” he murmured, shaking his head with an amused smile.
Just then his phone buzzed again from the dressing table. Alex groaned dramatically. “What do you want now, Margaret?”
He walked over and grabbed the phone. But the moment he looked at the screen, he frowned.
It wasn’t Margaret. The caller ID showed Mac, a name he didn’t recognize.
Alex hesitated for a second before swiping the answer button and lifting the phone to his ear.
“Hello?”
Silence greeted him.
At first, there was nothing, no voice, no background sound. Just quiet. Then he noticed it, breathing.
Slow and steady breathing from the other side. Someone is there but not speaking.
A strange chill crept slowly up Alex’s spine.
“Hello?” he repeated, this time more sharply.
Still nothing. The silence stretched, thick and uncomfortable. Alex’s grip on the phone tightened.
“Who the heck is this?” he barked, irritation mixing with unease.
For a brief second, the line remained quiet. Then a faint crack of laughter, low and mocking came through the line.
Alex’s stomach tightened.
A strange voice finally spoke from the other end. “Having fun with your new lover right now?”
The words came slowly, dripping with amusement. “Enjoy it while it lasts… honey.”
Another small, chilling laugh followed. Then the call ended.
The sudden silence in the room felt heavy.
Alex slowly pulled the phone away from his ear, staring at the dark screen in disbelief. His heart thudded hard in his chest. “Who the heck was that?” He whispered in confusion.
Alex was still staring at the phone screen, his brows slightly furrowed, when Lucas stepped out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist and droplets of water still clinging to his skin.
“Alex?” Lucas called softly but no response.
Lucas frowned and walked closer. Alex hadn’t even noticed him. “Hey…” Lucas reached out and tugged gently at his arm.
Alex jerked slightly, snapping back to the present.
“Alex, are you okay?” Lucas asked, studying his face. “Why are you staring at your phone like that?”
For a split second, Alex hesitated. His mind was still replaying the strange call, the mocking voice, the unsettling laughter. But he quickly pushed the thought aside. The last thing he wanted was to worry Lucas.
He forced a light smile. “Just making some calculations concerning a business proposal,” he said casually.
Lucas nodded. “Oh, okay, but don’t let it weigh you down. If it gets tough, feel free to consult me.” He gave a playful grin. “I won’t charge you much, okay?”
Before Alex could reply, Lucas gently caressed his cheek and turned toward the closet.
But Alex wasn’t ready to let him go. He caught Lucas’s hand and pulled him back into his arms.
Lucas stumbled slightly into him, and the towel around his waist nearly slipped off. He quickly grabbed it and tightened the knot before looking up.
Alex was staring at him with a mischievous smirk. “Why did you wrap the towel back?” Alex teased. “You owe me some view of your…”
“Alex…” Lucas cut him off quickly, his cheeks warming. “Come on, not now. It’s time for work, not…”
“Not what, baby?” Alex asked, leaning closer with a playful smile.
“Alex… don’t start,” Lucas whispered, trying not to laugh.
Instead of answering, Alex pressed a slow kiss to his lips. When he pulled back slightly, he murmured deliberately near Lucas’s ear.
“Don’t start what, baby?” Then he kissed his earlobe lightly.
Lucas stifled a laugh and pushed gently against his chest. “Alex, let go. I’ll be late for work.”
“Oh really?” Alex replied with a teasing lift of his brow. “Have you forgotten that I’m the boss… and you’re my baby?”
He leaned forward again, kissing Lucas’s nose, then his cheek, then his lips again, savoring the fresh, minty taste from his shower.
Lucas felt himself melting despite trying to resist. Alex’s teasing kisses were impossible to ignore.
When Alex’s hand slid from Lucas’s back and began wandering slightly while his lips trailed down to Lucas’s neck, a soft gasp escaped Lucas’s lips.
“Alex…” he breathed. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to give my baby some sugar,” Alex replied smoothly, gazing at him before placing another gentle kiss on his lips. “Or… don’t you want some sugar?”
Lucas laughed nervously. “Alex, I want, but…”
“Come on, baby, no buts.”
“Alex, please stop.” Lucas pleaded, trying so hard to resist him and Alex knew it.
Alex chuckled softly and brushed his thumb across Lucas’s cheek.
“Oh baby, do you know you’re driving me crazy?” he murmured. “I can’t get enough of your kisses. You're irresistible.”
Lucas swallowed slightly before speaking again. “Alex… let’s wait, please.”
Alex paused.
“I’d like to see Dr. Peters first, okay?” Lucas continued quietly. “I’m really nervous about the way my body is reacting. It has never happened before. It’s too overwhelming and…”
Alex leaned in and gently kissed him again, cutting off the rest of his words.
Then he pulled back and smiled reassuringly. “Hmm… okay, love. So you’re not running from me.”
“Running?” Lucas shook his head quickly. “No. In fact I…”
“You what, baby?” Alex asked immediately, tightening his hold when Lucas tried to step away. “Ah, not so fast. In fact… You what?”
Lucas looked at him, then lowered his gaze shyly. “Nothing,” he whispered.
Alex laughed softly. “Oh, you want to silence that word?” he said playfully. “In that case, you’ll have to buy the silence with a kiss.”
“Alex, stop…” Lucas protested weakly.
