Chapter 213
Chapter 213
Victoria softened.
She didn't leave, and following Aiden's pull, she sat down on the edge of the bed.
Chris swallowed the fruit in his mouth, his mind stirring slightly.
"Victoria, are you really going to stay here with him?"
"Yes, I'll leave once he's stable."
Victoria tugged at her clothes. Aiden was gripping them so tightly that she couldn't break free at all.
Chris nodded thoughtfully. "Do you want to tell Mr. Jones? I'm guessing he's still waiting for you to come back."
Victoria nodded. She finally managed to fish her phone out from her clothes, only to find it had died and shut off at some point.
Chris immediately took over. "Alright, I'll go notify him. You two rest."
After saying that, he thoughtfully closed the door.
After Chris left, he kept shaking his head.
Victoria clearly couldn't let go of Aiden. No matter how harsh her words were or how decisively she acted, when Aiden was in crisis, Victoria would go save him.
This was purely instinctive, coming from deep within her heart.
It looked like Chase was in danger, especially since he was still hiding things from Victoria.
Chris deliberately chose the farthest room to call Chase.
The moment his call went through, it was answered almost instantly.
"Chris, what's up calling so late? Is Victoria with you?"
Chris's tone was heavy. "Yeah, Victoria came back from the hospital with me and is resting here. Mr. Jones, I suggest you find a chance to come clean with Victoria about what happened today."
Chase gave a bitter laugh. "Come clean? Can I even come clean now? You don't need to lie to me—she's with Aiden, right?"
Chris fell silent. He had originally wanted to help Victoria cover things up, but hadn't expected Chase to already know.
"Alright then, Mr. Jones. But I still need to advise you—Victoria hates deception most of all. You'd better find the right moment to explain what happened today to her."
"I know. Thanks." Chase's tone wasn't good, and he hung up directly.
Of course, he knew this matter would blow up sooner or later like a time bomb. If it came out, he and Victoria would have no future together at all.
But right now... she was with Aiden. If he revealed this, wouldn't that just give Aiden an opportunity?
Chase stood in the courtyard of Victoria's villa, looking up at the stars, his heart feeling stifled and bitter.
He had finally gotten together with Victoria—how could all these things be happening?
Chase's phone soon received a message.
[Sorry, but I still don't want to abort this child. I'll give birth to it properly.]
Chase immediately called back, but was met only with a busy signal.
His hand gripped the phone tightly, his eyes bloodshot, almost crushing the thing.
"Eleanor! You're forcing my hand!"
Chase immediately mobilized all his connections to find Eleanor's location.
When the first rays of sunlight came down, Chase was holding the latest message that had come through, saying Eleanor was recuperating in a villa in the eastern suburbs.
Chase took out the drugs he carried with him, preparing to mix them. He had originally wanted to leave Eleanor with some dignity, but she had to push herself to a dead end.
On the other side, Victoria had originally planned to watch over Aiden and leave once he fell asleep.
But at some point, she had fallen asleep too.
Victoria lay on the bed, her hand unconsciously reaching to the side, only to touch Aiden's burning chest.
She hadn't fully woken up yet, murmuring, "Chase, when did you get here?"
The person beside her didn't speak, just grabbed her hand and pressed it against his heart.
Victoria instantly became alert. If it were Chase, he wouldn't make such an inappropriate move.
She recalled what happened last night and immediately tried to pull her hand back.
Aiden forcibly held her hand in place. "I can be his substitute, Victoria. Do you like him that much?"
Victoria sat up directly, as if she hadn't heard what he said.
"Since you're awake now, go to the hospital yourself."
Aiden grabbed her wrist and pulled her back into his arms, holding her tightly with both hands, his voice containing both choking emotion and obsession.
"Hospital? Victoria, you saved me yesterday, which means you still can't bear to let me go. Why are you pushing me away? I told you, if you want to punish me, I'm willing to do anything for you."
Victoria struggled to no avail and directly tore open his shirt. "Let go! You should go to the hospital, not act crazy around me. If you want to die..."
Victoria's words suddenly stopped.
She saw the dense network of wounds all over Aiden's body, and couldn't say the rest of her words.
She changed the subject. "I've already agreed to what you said before—you help me establish myself in the business world, help me get revenge. As for everything else, let's just be strangers."
Her eyes uncontrollably fell on those old and new overlapping wounds, and the deepest part of her heart bloomed with hidden pain.
In her memory, Aiden had always been that high-spirited, superior CEO.
But in the month or two since his return, Aiden had become like an obsessive, helpless abandoned child.
"Alright, at least while you still need me, I won't die."
Aiden opened his arms, his expression pleading. "Victoria, can you just hug me once? You know how I feel, so I don't want to hide it anymore. Just hug me once, and I'll go to the hospital right now and cooperate with treatment."
Victoria looked at the burning emotion in his eyes, her heart beating somewhat uncontrollably.
She pressed her chest and quickly got out of bed, wishing she could be 30 feet away from Aiden.
"My boyfriend should be coming to pick me up."
After saying that, she fled in panic, as if someone were chasing her from behind.
After Victoria left, Chris sauntered over again.
He unceremoniously tossed the medicine beside Aiden's hand. "Mr. Smith, I never realized you were so calculating before. Is tricking Victoria fun? Playing weak?"
The tears and vulnerability on Aiden's face instantly vanished completely.
He picked up the cold water on the table that had long gone cold, tore open dozens of pills, and swallowed them expressionlessly.
"As long as it works. See, isn't it working well?"
"You're seriously sick." Chris now felt that Chase couldn't possibly compete with this cunning man.
Aiden understood Victoria too well, so he knew her soft heart, knew her weaknesses, and even more so knew what Victoria looked like when she loved someone.
Aiden didn't refute it, but directly admitted it. "That's right, I am sick."
Aiden had touched Victoria today and was in a good mood, even his words carrying a hint of laughter.
"Chris, how about we make a bet? Do you think Victoria will choose me or Chase?"
Chris was silent for a moment, then firmly chose Chase.
Aiden laughed mockingly. "You hesitated, which means you think I'll win. After all, you know Victoria still loves me. Her feelings for Chase are just a bit of sympathy."
