There's something strange

Sarah chuckled as she looked in the mirror. The clothes and makeup she wore were endlessly adored. The same goes for the jewelry she wears. They were all the latest and greatest models she had ever owned. beautiful and classy too.

"How is it, dear? Isn't it nice?" asked Sarah, showing off the necklace and jeweled ring that she had never seen to her husband, Ryan.

"Good," Ryan replied lazily. The man lifted his body and walked like he had no passion for life. Slowly, the body disappeared into the bathroom, and Sarah just looked at him with an indifferent face.

"Pick me up at the usual place later, my dear. I'm leaving first." Sarah shouted from outside. Ryan didn't answer her. Sarah shouted again, "Honey, did you hear what I said?"

"I have a meeting until the evening. Just ask Papa for a driver," Ryan replied.

Sarah stomped her foot. She was upset. Her intention was to ask Ryan to pick her up because she wanted to show off to her friends. After all, it was rare for Ryan to accompany or pick her up.

"Do you know how much Papa Stewart's extended family hates me?" complained Sarah, who was still standing in front of the bathroom door waiting for reassurance from her husband.

Ryan opened the door and looked out. Sarah was surprised but tried to keep quiet.

"I'll tell my father."

"You won't. I want you to come and pick me up there. Watch out, not to forget," Sarah threatened. She kissed Ryan briefly on the lips before her shadow disappeared behind the door.

***

Ekhem!

Sarah turned her head to hear a heavy voice coming from the dining room. She thought it was a stranger, but it turned out to be Scott, who was eating breakfast alone.

Sarah didn't greet him; she walked slowly towards the front room. But Scott's voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Don't get Ryan in trouble. You have no right to keep him bottled up in possessiveness."

"Who are you to give orders to? Ryan and I are husband and wife. Every household has its own rules," Sarah replied in her arrogant tone.

"Forget that Ryan's life and his future are in the hands of me and Lily. I could be inciting Lily to take over the company right now and kick Ryan out." Scott put down his spoon and glared sarcastically at Sarah's face, which was frozen in place.

"You're threatening me?"

"Uhm, you could say that. You don't have a very good position in the Stewart family, and it's possible that one day Ryan  will.

"You haven't left yet?" Ryan's voice interrupted Sarah and Scott's long chat. He took a quick glance at his cousin and then asked Sarah again.

"You're not leaving yet?"

"Scott was talking to me earlier." Sarah pointed at Ryan's cousin.

"I'll pick you up after work."

"Thanks, honey." Sarah pecked Ryan's cheek and left without another word. But she did glance at Scott with a mocking smile.

"You're not going?" asked Ryan, who was now sitting across from Scott. His face looked as pale as if he'd lost blood.

"You should go to the hospital. Your face is pale," Scott suggested, to which Ryan nodded. "Why?"

"Me?" Scott nodded. "A lot of work."

"Not so much, I guess. I'm the one monitoring your work."

Ryan stopped his morning meal, which he had only taken one bite of. All of a sudden, his appetite was gone, evaporating into thin air. Scott was the same. They both stood up to leave the table.

"Why are you interfering with my domestic problems? It has nothing to do with work and nothing to do with Lily."

Both of them fell silent. Rayyan didn't seem to like what Scott had said. In his opinion, interrogating Sarah was tantamount to insulting his existence as the head of the household.

"I'm just following orders from your father. Uncle Stewart said that he entrusted you. That's why I told Sarah not to be too possessive." Scott argued.

"What's the connection?"

"Sarah kept you and took all your assets. She even almost dropped your name because of her crazy behavior. And that still blinds you?" growled Scott.

"That's none of your business."

***

"Uh, this is Sarah's husband's ex-wife, right? Wow, she's pretty now," said Eldie, one of Sarah's friends.

"Yes. This is Lily, if I'm not mistaken. She said she has a child. Isn't that right?" asked Abbies, who was nodded at by Eldie.

"But how come her child is already big enough?"

Both of them were silent. Not long after, Sarah came in with a fashionable and aesthetic style of clothing. The two friends just stood still and turned their heads while glancing at each other.

"Hi, have you been waiting long? Sorry, I went to the agency first." Sarah sat down with her legs crossed and tossed her hair to the side. "You guys haven't ordered food yet?"

"Wait for Ruby and Vivian. If you want to go first, go ahead," Eldie said, inviting Sarah to order first. Unsuspecting, Sarah quickly called the waiter, who had just passed by, and ordered a drink and a snack.

While waiting for the order to arrive, the curious Eldie and Abbies finally asked Sarah. "Sarah, do you know the news about your husband's ex-wife?" asked Eldies boldly.

Sarah shook her head, pretending not to know. She just glanced at her two friends while playing with her cell phone. Indira handed her a cell phone with news about Lily.

"What's this?" asked Sarah.

"It's a picture of Lily. Your husband's ex."

Sarah glanced disapprovingly. She handed the phone back to Eldies and pretended not to care about the Lily news. Eldies frowned, confused by Sarah's flat reaction.

"I already don't want to know what he does. Besides, what good does it do to know his current life?" asked Sarah in a high tone.

"This is a threat to you, Sarah. If it really is Ryan's child, it means that your position as one of the inheritors will be replaced," said Eldies, encouraging Sarah, who was now silent, to think about what her friend had said.

"Then what should I do?" asked Sarah.

"Let me whisper something."

Sarah rounded her eyes as her friend whispered in her ear. Eldies smiled as she saw that her bait had been eaten by Sarah.

"I'm not sure I can."
