Chapter 84. Something Good

I rush out of the room to my mother. I have to be there for her. She lost her mate again. I enter the room, and she is lying on the bed with Mia in her arms. I lay on the other side and wrap my arms around mia and mom. Mia is squished in the middle with her arms wrapped around mom. She starts to cry harder when I wrap my arms around her. Mom whispers that it's ok in her ear as she rubs her hair down. I had forgotten how powerful being a mother is. My mom has shown me my whole life. Here she is. She has lost her mate and still holds it together to comfort her child. I am lucky to have a woman like her as my mother. What the Goddess said plays in my head. She is right. She is the one that made my mother, and she is strong. She has endured so much, but she should not have to keep enduring like she is. I look over at mom, and my eyes meet hers. They are red and swollen from crying, and it breaks my heart even more. She gives me a small smile.

"I am so sorry, mom" That Is all I can manage to say.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, child. I know that the Goddess has a plan for all of her children. She is looking over us all and will make sure that we are ok. She blessed me with two mates in my life, and they were very different people." She says and pauses to laugh at a memory that passed. "They both gave me the most precious gifts that can ever be given to a person." She tells us as we all three go to sit up on the bed. We sit and face each other, but Mia and Me keep our eyes locked on mom.

"They both gave me the most wonderful daughters and two bonus sons or sons-in-law." She laughs and gives me a side look. Me and Mia both laugh to even though tears are still falling from our eyes. She then continues to talk, "I do need your help, girls. We need to plan for the final arrangements. He was a great mate, father, and Alpha. He deserves the best farewell we can give him." She finishes with more tears streaming down her face.

"Why don't you two take a few more minutes and maybe put some water on your face and some fresh clothes. Then, I will meet the guys and see what they think is best." I tell them as I go to stand. Mom nods her head at me to say, ok, and I make my way out of her room.

I look for the guys in the house, but I don't see them anywhere.

"Where are you guys at?" I ask Luca and Levi through the mind link.

"We are at the hospital. Is everything ok?" Luca asks me back. I can feel the worry coming through the bond.

"I wanted to talk to you and Levi. Why are you at the hospital? Is everything ok?" I ask as I make my way to the hospital in a hurry. He doesn't respond, and my panic rises as I run full speed to the hospital. As I get closer to the hospital, I feel anger pulsing through the bond. It is so strong that I am getting mad myself, and I don't even know what I am angry about. When I reach the hospital, I see all three of my mates outside, but Levi is punching a tree. His hands are bloody, and he is mad.

"What happened?" I ask as I reach them. Levi turns and looks at me, but he doesn't say anything. He turns and walks up to me fast. He takes me in his arms and lifts me off the ground pulling me into his body. He buries his head in my neck and inhales. I know he is trying to calm himself. I wrap my arms around his neck and let him use me to collect himself. When I feel he has calmed down, I pull back to see his face.

"Are you ok?" I ask him

"Yes, and No," He says, looking into my eyes. I can feel the sadness and the anger he is feeling.

"What's wrong?" I ask as I take his cheek into the palm of my hand.

"There was a little girl at the house when we went to check it out. She is not doing good. She was whipped and beaten. The doc says she has over half the bones in her body broken. They don't think she is going to make it." Levi says, and I am rendered speechless as his pain and my own wash over me. I start pushing off of him so that he will put me down. As soon as my feet touch the ground, I take off running into the hospital.

"Where are you going?" I hear all three of my mates yell as I bust through the doors. Everyone inside stops and looks toward me when I get inside.

"Where is the little girl?" I say as I start down the hall.

"She is in here," I hear Julie says as she makes her way to the end of the hall. MY HEART BREAKS when I get to the end of the hall and to the door. She is so tiny and so battered.

"I don't know how much time she has left. She has been through a lot. Most of the bones in her body have been broken. I just got her blood work back. She has not been healing because she has wolfsbane in her system." I listen to Julie as I make my way closer to her bed. I place my hands on her body and let my light flow out. I picture all her bones being healed. I can feel my light flow back to me, knowing that she is not better. I can still feel the damage, and I don't understand why it's not working. Then I feel hands land on my shoulders. I know it is my mates. I can feel all three of them.

"We will be able to give you the strength you can do this," Chase says, and I let my light flow free again. This time I feel it is more robust, and I picture the bones fusing together. I picture her blood clean and free of anything she does not need. I even go further and visualize her body healed, even the bruises healed. When my light starts to flow back to me, I hear a noise coming from the bed and a gasp behind me. I know the gasp is from Julie. She has never seen me heal anyone. She spends about all of her time here in the hospital. I keep my attention on the little girl. She starts to open her eyes and blinks slow. I can't help but smile. Her eyes are crystal blue. I don't think I have ever seen eyes like hers. She finally looks over and notices us here. She jumps and starts to slide up the bed to put distance between us.

"It's ok, Katie. My name is Levi your friend Jacob asked us to help you. How are you feeling?" She looks surprised that Levi mentioned Jacob as she looks around like she is looking for him.

"Would you like to see Jacob?" Chase speaks up and asks. She nods her head but still doesn't say anything. Chase teleports, and her eyes get the size of plates, and she looks scared again.

"It's ok, Katie. He is a good person. I promise we all are." I tell her, and she seems to relax a little but is still cautious. It is only a couple of minutes when Chase is back, and the little boy I am guessing is Jacob is holding his hand. The little boy jerks away from Chase and jumps on the bed with Katie.

"Oh my, you look all better," He says as he hugs her, and she hugs him back. I feel a tear slide down my face at the joy on their faces. So at least, there is some good out of all the bad that has happened.
