Chapter 73. Forgiveness

Thankfully I had been to Grayson's pack one time before when I was a teen. I remembered it because there was a lovely meadow outside the packhouse that was full of flowers.

"I can take us there. It would be best if you let Grayson know we are coming. There is a meadow beside their packhouse that is where we will enter." I tell Bastien as he takes his phone to call him back. I look to Chase cause I will need his help transporting this many people. He gives me a smile and nods, knowing what I am saying without saying a word.

"Wait, will everyone be safe here if we all leave?" Luca asks, and he is right; I didn't think of that. I was only worried about us helping Piper.

"I am going to stay to keep an eye on things here. That way, I might be able to watch Barrett as well. He doesn't know that we are on to him yet. Bastien says, and I agree that that might be the best approach.

"I will stay that way; it is two of us here," Luca says, but the look he is giving me breaks my heart. I can tell he is upset with me, but I don't have time to talk with him right now. So I reach out to him through our mindlink.

"I love you, Luca. Please stay safe."

"I love you too, but we need to talk later." He says, and I can feel the hurt through our bond. I am just not sure if it is because of me leaving or Chase. I look away at Levi, but I don't see any hurt, just what looks like curiosity.

"Ok, Grayson knows that you all are headed his way. They will be waiting for you in the clearing." Bastien says. I did not even realize that he had called Grayson yet. I reach out to take Levi's hand while Chase takes my other. I look at Levi as I think of the clearing. His eyes scream that he wants to go but is too upset. I hope we can work this out when I get back.

The clearing is just as I remember it. Flowers are everywhere. I look over to see Grayson on the other side.

"Thank you for coming." He says as he walks toward us.

"This is Chase, Tasha, Joseph, and Kane. Of course, you already know who me and Levi are," I say, smiling at him.

"Not to be rude, but I need to see the markings that Bastien told us about," Chase speaks up and says, and I can see the worry on his face, so it must be bad.

"Of course this way," Grayson says, and we all follow him. Finally, we make it to what I can only guess is a pack hospital.

"I think I will wait out here," Kane says as we reach the doors.

"We will wait here too. If you need us, you can let us know." Joseph says we nod and continue into the hospital. I can smell the blood and feel the pain coming from the people inside. The attack must have been a bad one. My grip on Levi's hand tightens. He squeezes my hand back to show me he is with me. Then I feel Chase squeeze my other hand. We will be ok. I have them, my mates. Well, two of them, I just hope that my other mate will come around. We continue to follow Grayson through the hospital. We finally make it to piper's room. The first thing I noticed is her skin looked pale. She does not look like she did when I just saw her a few days ago.

" the cut was on her leg," Grayson says as he lifts the bottom of the blanket to show us her leg. I gasped when I see the black swirls going up her leg. The blanket is pulled up to her knee, and so are the swirls.

"May I?" ask chase. As he stepped near the bed, Grayson nodded, permitting him. I could see chase inspecting the marks on her leg. The look of concern on his face depended.

"Was anyone else injured at the same time that she was?" Chase asked, looking at Grayson.

"Yes, my beta was also injured. He is in the next room."

"May I also look at him, please?" Chase asked. Grayson motioned for us to follow. We entered the room next door. His beta Brad was lying on a bed, and he looked paler than Piper. I would think he had not seen the sun in years.

"Wait at the door," Chase tells Levi and me without stopping as he goes into the room. We stand at the door and watch him and Grayson as they go to Brad. Grayson pulls the blanket down so that Brad's chest shows and we can see his side. It looks the same as Piper, but the black swirls are not as spread as Pipers are.

"Do you know what this is?" Grayson asks, looking to Chase for answers.

"Yes, and if we hurry, we can reverse the effects. They would not still be alive if it had hit only him or Piper. He saved you or her whoever it was meant for."

"What do we need to do?" Grayson asked, and I could hear the pain and worry in his voice. I know how much he loves Piper and Brad is a best friend. I know I would do anything for my best friend, so I am sure he would too. I am so lost in my train of thought that I did not hear the rest of what was said. I see Chase teleport out of the room.

"Where is he going?" I ask, confused why he just left.

"It's ok. He went to get some woman named Donna." Levi says, taking my hand and calming me.

"I didn't hear that part. Is there anything we can do until he gets back?" I ask Grayson. But before he can answer me, Chase and Donna are back, and they have a basket of stuff with them.

"We should start with Brad. He seems to have taken most of the poison." Chase says as he and Donna start to mix things they have in the basket.

"Hey, do you mind if we walk out here and give them a moment to work, and we can talk," Levi asks me, and I figure there is no better time than now. I look back to Chase and see they are busy working, so I nod and start toward the door.

When we make it outside, I see that Kane and the others are a little away from the building, standing under a tree, so I start in the other direction, not wanting this talk to have an audience. I turn and begin to ask what he wants to talk about, but before I can say anything, he wraps me in his arms and pulls me against his body.

"I am so glad you are ok." He says into my ear as I hear him take a deep breath. Inhaling my scent, I take a deep breath to get as much as his as I can. We both stand there in each other's arms for what seems like forever.

"Why did you leave like that without talking to Luca or me?" He says as he finally pulls back to look into my eyes.

"I'm sorry, but I knew that you two would not let me trade myself for them. So I had to save them. I just hope that you both can understand and forgive me." I think of Luca with my words, and I don't know if he can forgive me.

"I forgive you, but I was scared. We can talk through these things, Raine. That is why we have each other. I don't know how I could live if something happened to you." His lips are on mine as soon as the words leave his mouth.
