Chapter 72. Metting

Levi,

We make our way back to the packhouse. I catch Luca up on everything that is going on and what Kane has noticed about Barrett. We are almost back to the packhouse when I mindlink dad.

"We need to talk and alone. Where no one can eavesdrop or have a chance to hear us."

"Meet me at the old bunker. We can talk there." Dad replies, but I say nothing else.

"He wants to meet at the old bunker," I tell Luca, and we start to head that way.

"Do you want me to join or head back?" Kane says.

"You can come to, and you can let him know what you have seen yourself," I tell him as we all continue to head to the bunker. It doesn't take long till I get to the entrance and head down. I see the lights are already on, so I figure dad is already here. We go in, and I shut the bunker door behind us.

"So what is it that we need to be cut off from everyone," Dad says, looking tired. I don't waste time and fill him in on what Kane has seen. When Kane is finished telling him what he has seen, my phone starts to ring in my pocket. I take it out and look at it.

"I don't know this number," I say, looking at them all.

"Answer it. It might be about Raine." Luca says, and I don't waste a second picking the call up.

"Hello."

"Omg Levi,"

"Raine, is that you? Where are you?"

"Listen, I am safe, but you all are not. Barrett is the bad guy." Wait, she is safe, and how does she know about Barrett already?

"Raine, listen, I am going to put you on speakerphone. Luca, dad, and Kane are here. We were just talking about some of the stuff Barrett has been doing." I tell her then turn on the speakerphone.

"Are you ok?" Luca asks her.

"Yes, I am safe and ok. But, this whole time, it has been Barrett."

"How do you know this," Dad asks before I can.

"I am with Chase Tasha and Joseph. They all know Barrett and what he has been planning. It is Barrett that wants to bring the darkness. He has been planning this for years. That is why he tried to make everyone believe it was Chase so that he could have a foothold with us all first." I want to growl at the fact she is with Chase, but I am not mad or hurt about it for some reason. That is weird.

"How do you know it is not Chase that is lying to you?" Kane ask.

"Barrett has kidnapped people before, and he was working with Joceline. So they have been keeping an eye on him. They also believe he has attacked Grayson's pack. Have you spoken with him or Piper?"

"Yes, they have had a few attacks on their pack but were ok the last time I spoke with him."

"You may want to check in again because my sources say that my brother planned another attack today." I hear, and it's a man's voice.

"Who is this?" I ask.

"My name is Chase. We will get a formal introduction soon. I am sorry that things had to be done this way. Until my brother is stopped, I could not risk Raine." I try to ponder over the words. Inside I feel like he is telling us the truth, but I also want to beat his ass for making Raine leave as she did.

"Then, if that is true, why don't we just go get Barrett and lock him up," Luca says to Chase.

"If it were that easy, I would have stopped him a long time ago. He has been planning this for years. He has a lot of people on his side and fighting for his cause. He has made all these people think that life will be filled with great things with him and the darkness. This is far from the truth. I even believe he may have killed our parents to become king, but I can't prove that yet." Chase tells us, and I can hear the anger in his voice.

"What if we get the drop on him. He doesn't know that we suspect him of anything. We could capture him and lock him up." Kane says, looking to us to see if we agree.

"You want to capture him that easy. He is the warlock king. He has powers that none of us have." So dad says, and he is right.

"If we tried to trap him, he would just teleport," I say cause its true.

"Unfortunately, I think this is going to have to be a fight. Barrett will not back down. He has waited too long for this. If I had not done the things I did to hide that I am Raine's mate and help people to get away from him, he would have already taken Raine." Wait, did he just say that he is Raine's mate? My ears must have heard him wrong.

"Did you just say that you are Raine's mate?" Luca says through gritted teeth. Instead of him answering, another woman speaks up.

"Guys, I think that we need to worry about Barrett and how to stop him right now. If he did attack Grayson's pack today, it was a big attack, not like the small attacks or whatever he has been doing."

"Wait, who are you?" I asked, tired of not knowing who all is talking anymore.

"My name is Tasha." Is her short reply. That really doesn't tell me who she is, and I am getting more aggravated every minute.

"Where are you guys that you can talk to us with no one else around?" Raine ask.

"We are in the old bunker," I tell her.

"Ok, hold on," Raine says, and I can hear them talking, but I can't make out what they are saying to each other. Hell, I can't tell who is talking to who. Then the phone turns off like the call was ended.

"What the hell?" We all say at one time. Then I see Raine with another woman and two men with her. They are all holding hands. I see her hand is in who I am assuming is Chases. When our eyes meet, she looks embarrassed, and I see she pulls her hand away. Before I can say anything, Luca beats me to it.

"If you could still teleport, why did you not just come back? Why did you stay?"

"That would be my fault. I made it where she could not teleport." Chase speaks up and says. Then the other two introduce themselves. At least now I can put a face with a voice.

"It is nice to meet you all, but I wish it were different circumstances. I have a question if you can stop her from teleporting, can you do the same thing to Barrett?" Dad says, looking at Chase.

"No, I can't, but we can try to talk to him. Maybe he would see reason. Especially if we are now a united front." Chase says, looking to see if we agree. The laughs that come out of our mouths must be the answer. Then Dad's phone rings.

"I have to take this. It's Grayson." Dad says as he answers his phone. His call only takes a few minutes, but the look on his face says it is not good.

"What happened?" I ask.

'Rogues and warlocks attacked them. Grayson's beta Brad was injured badly trying to protect him and Piper. Piper is unconscious and has black-like vines going up her leg from a cut. They don't know what it is or how to help her."

" I need to speak with him now. Or she will die. Better yet. We need to go to them now." Chase says, catching us all by surprise.
