Little Red and the Bad Boy~Aftermath Part 5
Ruby was getting herself ready to go meet Morgan, a friend she'd known since high school. The last time the two had seen one another was the day before her move to that God forsaken cabin.
Morgan was happy to finally hear from Ruby and couldn't wait to find out how she was doing since she'd relocated....but little did she know that Ruby had one hell of a story to unload on her and Morgan was the type to believe every single word of it.
Ruby's small suv moved slowly down the bumpy back road on her way to see the friend she so desperately needed more than anything right now. If anyone could help her out of this hellish nightmare she'd been cast into it was her….or so she hoped.
Morgan had always believed in any & all things supernatural and had told numerous wild stories over the years about beasts that wore human skin and so many others that were just as unbelievable.
Ruby recalled the many times she had embarrassed the total hell outta her friend and had her looking bat shit crazy. Now here she was rushing to get to this bat shit crazy friend.
Karma was a bitch and now Ruby was paying dearly for all her past transgressions.
Now here she was needing help with one of these beastly men….something she still couldn't believe, even though she had most definitely experienced it first hand.
Ruby parked in front of the cottage and shut off the engine. Taking a deep breath she opened the car door and was immediately met with a very excited & bubbly Morgan.
"Ahhh there you are, lady! How the hell have you been doing!? I can't believe you're actually here to visit Lil ole me. I...I just feel so damn special!" Morgan sang out happily while pulling Ruby into a tight hug.
Ruby smiled hugging her friend back....then the smile fell just as quickly.
Morgan's eyes filled with concern.
"Hey...wh...what's wrong? I always know when something isn't right with you sugarpop. Come on...come inside and tell me what's got you looking so frazzled. I'll make us some of my special coffee." Morgan led Ruby up the small set of steps & into the cozy little home.
For the next hour or so Ruby unloaded every single detail of all that had transpired since she'd left for her Grandma's cottage.
“Oh my God! Rubeeeee...you are his FATED MATE! and the bond was only made stronger when he put that mark on your neck. The beast in this fella will not rest until he has you with him....fucking eternally! He would go to the ends of the earth! He will lie…cheat…steal and even kill if he has to. Th…this is some heavy shit girl.”
"Bu...but I don't...I didn't want this! Shouldn't there be some kinda rule that cancels this out if the woman doesn't even know what the hell she's getting herself into and doesn't agree with being the mate to some…some damn freak of nature!? Please help me Morgan....please! I…I just can't do this! There's gotta be something that can be done for me to get out of this." Ruby cried out in frustration, her hands balled up into fists as tears began to pool.
Rubie's heart twisted in her chest so painfully at the mention of putting an end to this mate bond that she felt like falling to her knees. She just wished that she could make the last few days disappear all together....like they'd never happened.
Here she sat blubbering to Morgan about things that would have her sent away to the nearest mental institution if it were anyone else she was sharing this with.
"Hmm….you know something? I do believe there may actually be something that can be done.....but there's someone I need to speak with about it before I'm 100% sure. But the first thing we need to do is get him off your trail so I can go and do a little research. I'm gonna prepare a tonic spray that will completely shield your scent from him. Because if there's one thing I know for certain it's the power of a fated mate's scent that will draw him right to you ... .so yea that's gotta be handled before anything else. I promise I'll do all I can to help
Morgan stood quickly & flitted over to the cabinets digging out a bunch of small glass jars packed with what appeared to be dried roots & herbs.
She grabbed a mortar & pestle and immediately began opening jars and crushing them together in the small stone bowl like it came as second nature to her.
"Thank you for helping me Morgan…you just don't know how much this means to me." Ruby had a look of shock on her face as she watched her friend shuffle around the small kitchen grabbing vials of colorful liquid and reaching up into the cabinets that were slam full of those little jars all labeled with weird names. This was a side of her friend she'd never before seen.
"Wh…what are you ......a witch or something?"Ruby giggled while her friend kept mixing ingredients as if her life depended upon it. Then she could hear a low chant as she watched Morgan pour everything into a small saucepan adding a light brown liquid over everything in the pot.
Ruby kept perfectly quiet while her friend worked and chanted in a language she couldn't decipher.
All the sudden a puff of purple smoke arose over the little pot. The small purple cloud lingered in the same place for at least thirty seconds before it finally vanished into thin air.
Morgan kept up her chanting as the liquid inside the pot boiled.
Ruby was completely shocked into silence watching her friend mix up this concoction that was supposed to cover her scent from this man beast. She felt as if her mind were slipping into a dark abyss of madness.
Men who looked human that actually turned into beasts and God only knew what else was out there in the big world. She'd lived her entire life oblivious to it all, just like the rest of the ignorant homosapiens. Surely she & Morgan weren't the only one's that knew monsters really did exist.....there had to be more.
"Yes...I am indeed a witch my dear friend. I told you years ago....but you laughed in my face and told me I was fucking crazy." Morgan spoke as she poured the contents of the dark liquid inside a glass measuring cup to cool.
Morgan whispered more of the chant and Ruby couldn't believe her eyes when she saw hundreds of tiny colorful sparkles appear over the liquid.
"It needs to sit for another hour and it will be ready for use. I think you're really gonna love the scent. Smells just like that expensive perfume you adore so much." Morgan replied, staring at a speechless Ruby.
"Cat got your tongue sugarpop?" Morgan tittered, wiping her hands off with a dish towel.
"You're seriously a….a witch? Not some nut job that thinks their a witch just because they say they are." Ruby replied, giving her friend a questioning look.
"Yes Ruby. I'm the real Mccoy....no additives or preservatives. It's not something I just made up for the hell of it because I thought it'd be cool to be one. My mother, my grandmother, her mother and it goes on and on through my bloodline. I am a witch and I can do some pretty awesome shit. Does it bother you knowing that about me?" Morgan asked.
"No....God no! I....I'm just kinda shocked and feel like a class A asshole that I didn't take you seriously when you told me about it years ago. I...I'm really sorry Morg. Thank you for helping me even though I said all the shit I did in the past. I hope you'll forgive me for it. And if I ever hurt you with things I said…I am so abundantly sorry. I'm a damned fool for not believing you." Ruby said with honesty.
"You've never really hurt my feelings. I knew that you just didn't believe that things like that existed and I couldn't ever prove to you that they really did because it went against a witches “code of honor.” We're not supposed to divulge any secrets about the supernatural world and I only told you certain things because I knew you never truly believed....but now that you've seen the truth with your very own peepers I can talk freely about all the other species that live normal lives amongst us every single day. Buuut I'll save that for another time. We'll just deal with one monster at a time for now.. Are you a little peckish? Think I'll make us something good to eat" Morgan completely changed the subject as she began scrambling around the kitchen grabbing pots & pans to prepare them some lunch.
Ruby knew how Morgan was. She was the type to drop everything when her belly rumbled, the girl never missed a meal. It would be pointless for her to start asking questions about all the different supernatural beings at a time when her friend was hungry. Like her friend had said…it'd be best to deal with one monster at a time.
"Mhm, yea. I guess I could eat.” Ruby walled over to the amber colored liquid her friend had concocted and leaned over sniffing it. It was true….it did smell just like the perfume she loved so much.
"I am so damn glad that you have seen proof of what's really out there girl. It makes me feel so much closer to you now. I can't wait to fill you in on all the different species that look as human as you and me. You're gonna be so surprised." Morgan replied happily. She handed Ruby a large glass spray bottle. "Here…go ahead and fill this bottle up so you can go shower and then just use it like a body spray when you're done. Iit should keep your scent hidden from “him” for up to 36 hours or until you shower again....it's powerful stuff girly. What can I say….I'm good!" She smiled, patting Ruby on the back.
