~Beauty or a Beast~ Part 5

~Adella~

Crystal started pacing the kitchen back & forth wringing her hands fearfully.

"Why does he scare you so much?" I asked, looking at her worriedly.

"He...he's just a really intimidating man, and very scary at times...I swear I've even heard him growl like a monster before." She whispered leaning in closer to me as though he may hear her. "H...He threw a glass at me once, just barely missing my head by inches... because I walked into a room that I was assigned to clean one day, and he was there." She looked at me with fear in her innocent bambi eyes, causing me to feel great pity for her.

"Damn, that's really messed up shit. Ok listen, let's just try to get through the rest of this day and hopefully he won't say anything and if he does, it will be me that gets canned...not you. And that's ok, I can always find another job." I tried to make light of the situation, even though I knew this was one hell of a good job with excellent pay that I'd hate to lose without even getting started. Crystal had been here for 3 years and I didn't want her to be concerned with losing a job she'd had so long.

My little speech seemed to offer her a little relief and we continued on with the rest of my tour.

If it was only today I was here, at least I could say I'd seen the inside of a castle.

-------------------------------

We made it through the rest of the day, even though Crystal jumped at every little noise. But we never heard anything from him or about the little incident. Crystal and I learned a bit about each other and we got along pretty well. She wasn't as boisterous as myself, but she had a genuine persona and I liked that she was such a caring individual.

As she and I walked to the kitchen for our last meal of the day, I couldn't shake the eerie feeling of someone watching me which caused chills to spread out over my body.

I toted a large tray of food to my room since I didn't wanna eat with the others so they could watch me make a total pig of myself. I was fucking starved and I ate like a wild animal which was a sight I did not wish for anyone to witness. I had loaded two plates with so much food it was ridiculous. But I had skipped lunch so I figured I needed the extra nourishment.

I had snuck myself in a little stash of weed and figured I'd partake in a smoke session before I ate, especially after the day I'd had. The hot food needed to cool anyhow. I sat the tray on the small table inside my room.

I rolled a pinner and flung open the large window. There wasn't even a screen over it. I could actually walk out onto the roof of this monstrous castle I was living in and decided I'd go ahead and do just that. I certainly didn't need anyone to smell my herb...used for medicinal purposes only... of course.

I lifted my legs over and left the window cracked open and placed a book in between to make sure I didn't get myself locked out on the damn roof, which with my luck would happen if I didn't take extra precautions. My eyes scanned over the rolling hills, the trees in so many vibrant colors. Everything looked so captivating & winsome. I lowered myself down into a sitting position leaning my back near the outside of my window.

I lit up my Jay taking a big deep inhale and holding it until I started sputtering and blew it out through my nose as the big cloud of smoke floated away with the cool breeze.

I sat until I'd finished the entire joint, nearly burning my fingers in the process and was smiling like a damned fool at nothing in particular, just thinking about Nate looking like a fucking kitty cat, and how he'd crawl around the house meowing when he got high. I laughed hard covering my mouth so no one would hear me, since my laughter would sometimes get completely outta control when I was as high as I was right now.

The sun was beginning to hide behind the mountains as I looked over, noticing a light flickering on through a window about 15-20 feet away from where I sat.

Well.... curiosity got the better of me as I began to sneakily crawl forward to the window with a big goofy grin spread across my mug.

I progressed onward slowly, hunkering down lower as not to be seen if someone was inside the room. God...what was wrong with me being so creepy? I'd blame it on the weed. It always made me do crazy shit.

I cautiously poked my head up just barely enough to see inside the dimly lit room. It was him! The asshole! What was he doing in the servants wing? Surely he would have a room much grander than the ones in this part of the mansion. Bizarre...very, very bizarre. I thought to myself.

Oh well, I guess "the master" can go wherever the hell he chooses in his own home.

*Unknown pov*

Della carefully lifted her head again to take another quick peek at what he was up to. She just had to satisfy her sudden curiosity with this man. Her eyes landed on him and damn near popped outta her head at what she thought she'd seen.

His eyes looked the color of midnight and she could have sworn she'd seen thick black pointy horns atop his head, along with a mouthful of razor sharp pointed teeth.

She couldn't help herself but to take one more quick glance. Surely she had not really seen a monster...it had to be the effects of the weed. She lifted her head up over the bottom ledge of the window once again.

Suddenly his head twisted to the window she was at. She gasped, covering her mouth quickly. The horns were gone...but the pitch black eyes and sharp teeth were still there. Oh God had he seen her!? She screamed inside and began to crawl back to her window as fast as she could.

"Shit! Fuck! Shit! Oh Fuuuckk! Noo way can this be happening!" She cursed under her breath hustling back over to her window climbing up and over the small ledge falling onto the hard floor with a loud thud. She hurriedly shut, locked & bolted the window drawing the thick curtains together tightly.

Her heart raced outta control. "What the holy fuck was that?" She kept repeating to herself over and over again as she hudled up in front of her door wringing her hands together frantically as jet black fear & dread washed over her in a tidal wave of sheer terror at what she thought she'd just viewed inside the room right next to her own.

"Ok....ok.....it's the weed...it's gotta be the weed, it's freaking me the fuck out and I'm seeing crazy...unreal shit. Yes, yes that's what it is. She took in a deep uneven breath trying desperately to calm herself.

After about 30 minutes she'd talked herself into believing what she had seen was nothing but a trippy effect of the strong weed.

She finally got a grip and started to settle down. Della had completely written it all off as a bad trip. She had smoked entirely too much of the potent weed, and should have known better. Nate had specifically warned her about taking no more than a couple tokes, and that was why her brain had tricked her into seeing such ridiculous shit.

She finally stood up from her huddled place on the floor laughing at how foolish she'd reacted. Like there was really a black eyed horned beast with sharp teeth in the next room. What a dumbass she was.

Her eyes locked onto all the delicious foods that sat on the small table making her mouth water. The munchies were hitting her hard right now, and she was more than ready to shove her face full of the feast sitting before her.

Nearly an hour later she groaned with a belly ache. She was packed so damn full she was fucking miserable and wished she had taken it easier and not pushed herself to eat nearly every last bite.

She stood, one hand laid over her pained stomach as she picked up the tray and walked to the door, opening it carefully so she wouldn't drop the damn thing. No sooner had the thought entered her brain and the tray hit the hard floor making a loud crashing sound as it landed. The remainder of food splattering everywhere, dishes breaking.

"Son of a bitch!" She shouted out in a whisper. "I should have known this shit would happen to me." She cursed in a hushed tone gritting her teeth.

She whined, getting down on her knees and began raking up the mess and picking up glass. Della found a piece of paper and used a rag to sweep up the rest of the mess, cutting her finger in the process.

Della had finally cleared everything away, collected all the broken dishes and started down the hallway to the servants kitchen.

She had managed to make it without any more incidents in her blazed condition. She disposed of all the broken dishes that had been destroyed, hiding them underneath some paper towels in the trash hoping the older grouchy maid wouldn't find out about it.

She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and headed back to her room.

The hairs stood up on the back of her neck as she hurried down the long hallway to her room.

Just as she'd made it to the door, a deep voice rumbled out, stopping her dead in her tracks causing her to become completely immobile as she felt heat on her back from the close proximity of the much larger body behind her.
