Chapter 163 Turmoil Arises Again
Chapter 163 Turmoil Arises Again
They used to think the kids were still young. Even John, the oldest, was still a child who needed protection in Evelyn and Arthur's eyes.
But in fact, all four children were growing up and learning and improving in their own ways.
Their excellent performance during training at the base was the best proof - they could push forward bravely and work together to protect each other.
As long as the kids were given a chance, they could show their talents.
Arthur smiled and put his arm around Evelyn's shoulder, agreeing, "You're right, we've been holding them back. It's time to make some changes."
After John finished the phone call, the other three kids all looked at him eagerly.
"John, what did Mommy say?"
"Did something happen? Daddy and Mommy still aren't home this late, something must have happened!"
"John, tell us!"
Seeing his siblings' worried faces, John quickly reassured them, "Daddy and Mommy do have something to handle, so they told us to go to sleep first."
"They'll come back once they're done. They said not to worry!"
"Are you sure everything's okay?"
Even after hearing John say this, the kids were still concerned. "Daddy and Mommy always like to handle things themselves. Even when they run into problems, they want to solve them alone. We don't want them to work so hard."
"And Mommy has looked a bit tired lately. Working late tonight means she won't sleep well again!"
"But we need to trust them," John said seriously. "They're really good at what they do. Daddy and Mommy will handle everything and come back."
"Come on, let's get in bed and not distract them."
He took charge like a big brother, leading his three younger siblings to bed and tucking them in.
The kids lay side by side, and Ella said timidly, "John, I can't sleep..."
She couldn't stop thinking about Evelyn and Arthur. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Evelyn's face.
"I'll tell you a story."
Julian volunteered, then began softly telling a fairy tale.
With his gentle voice, Ella gradually closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Seeing Ella sleeping peacefully, the three brothers finally relaxed.
Meanwhile, Theodore had started an internal investigation, and Arthur had mobilized the Collins Group's network security team to trace the data source.
His people worked quickly and soon gave him feedback.
"Mr. Collins, we've found the intrusion IP. It's from an overseas server disguised as a research fund!"
"Well done!"
Arthur praised them, then shared this information with Theodore and Evelyn.
"A research fund?"
Evelyn immediately checked the access records and found that the stolen files were mostly related to the emergency system's core algorithm, which was very similar to the model used by the military.
"Theodore, Arthur."
She suddenly stopped what she was doing, sensing something was wrong, and turned to look at them. "This might not be a simple case of corporate espionage, but an organized infiltration targeting the military-civilian integration program."
"Don't you think this core algorithm looks familiar? It's extremely similar to the model the military used before!"
With her reminder, Arthur and Theodore noticed this too, and their expressions became serious.
"It's getting late."
After thinking for a moment, Theodore said, "You two should go home and rest. The kids are still waiting for you at home. I'll continue following up on the investigation and let you know right away if I find anything new."
He was still worried about leaving the four children alone at home. Besides, Evelyn had already found the key point - he could just follow the trail from here.
"Alright," Evelyn and Arthur exchanged glances and said to him, "Thanks for your hard work, Theodore."
When they got home, they found the four children sleeping peacefully together, and their worried hearts finally settled.
Evelyn gently brushed their hair aside and kissed their foreheads before leaving the room and closing the door.
"The kids are sleeping soundly," she said to Arthur with a smile. "John took good care of them. Looks like we underestimated the four of them."
"I told you, they've grown up. The training at the base gave them a lot of experience."
Arthur smiled and handed her some water, then sat down to think.
"Still thinking about what just happened?"
Evelyn held the cup in both hands and asked softly, "Theodore said he'll keep following up on it."
"Of course, I trust his abilities. I just wonder why the same thing keeps happening again and again."
Thinking about this, Arthur couldn't help but sigh. "It feels like some kind of cycle that we can't stop, even if we don't want it."
"Arthur."
Evelyn put her hand on his shoulder and said gently, "I understand how you feel, but there's no need to worry about people who don't matter."
She knew he was so anxious because this might involve the kids.
But no amount of worry would solve the problem - it would only mess with their minds.
As parents, they had to stand in front of the children and protect them when danger came.
If even their emotions collapsed, what would happen to the four kids? How could they protect them?
"You're right."
Arthur smiled and nodded. "Evelyn, I was overthinking."
But thankfully, Evelyn was by his side, helping him find his way back when he was confused, so he wouldn't do something he couldn't fix.
Two days later, Theodore called with a somewhat serious tone. "Evelyn, we found encryption formats from Falcon International Corporation's old system in some of the replaced authorization codes!"
"Falcon International Corporation?"
This information made Evelyn's heart sink. Their earlier guess had finally been confirmed.
"Looks like the forces behind Falcon International Corporation haven't completely disappeared."
More than that, Theodore was worried about their safety and the kids'. He warned seriously, "Evelyn, Falcon International Corporation's target is likely you, Arthur, and the kids. You must protect yourself. I'll strengthen the security system and not let them succeed!"
"Okay!"
Evelyn nodded firmly, taking his words to heart.
Falcon International Corporation was no pushover. Once they got involved, it would be bad news for her and Arthur, and especially for the four children.
