Chapter 164: Remnants of the Old Collins Group
Evelyn immediately told Arthur the news, and he instantly realized how serious the situation was.
"Falcon International Corporation again?"
His brows furrowed tightly, unable to relax.
Falcon International Corporation was like a sticky plaster - once it stuck to you, you couldn't peel it off. Even if you tore it away, it would leave marks that couldn't be erased.
He hated this feeling and had developed a deep disgust for Falcon International Corporation.
"Yeah," Evelyn couldn't help but let out a long sigh, feeling exhausted both physically and mentally. "We thought we'd completely gotten rid of Falcon International Corporation's influence. We underestimated them. They're like weeds, growing wildly non-stop."
Dealing with people like this would only drain their energy and drag them into the mud.
"Theodore is still following up on his end. We can't just sit here doing nothing."
Arthur nodded and immediately said, "Okay, I'll head to the company right away. Let me know immediately if anything comes up!"
He rushed to the Collins Group and temporarily separated the security system's technical components from the Collins Group's main operations, sealing them off separately to avoid further financial complications.
"Mr. Collins."
His subordinate reported to him again: "I found financial transactions between the overseas server and a company called Euro New Ventures Group."
The person showed him the relevant evidence, and sure enough, there was an undeniable connection between the two.
"Euro New Ventures Group?"
Arthur picked up his phone to search for information about this company, and discovered a familiar name: "How could it be him..."
That evening, he returned home with a heavy heart to find Evelyn playing with the four children.
When the kids saw him come back, they immediately put down their books and ran over.
"Daddy! You're finally home!"
"You must be tired!"
"Let me give you a back massage!"
The children's innocent and carefree manner eased Arthur's weary heart considerably. He smiled and patted their heads: "Daddy's not tired, just a little thirsty."
Hearing he was thirsty, Ella immediately turned around to pour him a glass of water and brought it to him: "Daddy, here's your water!"
Seeing how thoughtful and adorable she was, Arthur couldn't stop smiling.
"Thank you, Ella."
He took the glass and drank it all in one go right in front of Ella, giving her plenty of emotional validation.
Home really was the warmest place - it let him drop all his defenses and made him feel that life was beautiful and worth looking forward to.
"Alright," Evelyn said with a smile from the side, "you guys play by yourselves for now and let Daddy take a shower and relax."
She knew that spending time with the children was a happy thing, but also very draining.
She could tell Arthur had dealt with plenty of frustrating matters at the company, so she deliberately gave him an out.
The children listened to Evelyn and went back to their seats to continue reading.
However, when Arthur entered the bedroom, he had no interest in showering. He sat in a chair and rubbed his temples.
"What's wrong, Arthur?"
Evelyn sensed something was off and followed him into the room, asking with concern: "Did something happen?"
Her instinct told her there must be some special situation; otherwise, Arthur wouldn't have this expression.
"Evelyn..."
Arthur looked at her with some hesitation, but finally spoke frankly: "Today, we traced the overseas server to a company called Euro New Ventures Group that has financial dealings with it. This group was previously involved in restructuring Bentley's overseas companies."
"Bentley?"
This long-absent name made Evelyn pause, seemingly caught off guard: "It's actually him?"
Previously, Bentley had ambitiously returned to the country, wanting to compete with Arthur for control of the Collins family, and had almost joined forces with Rowan, nearly pushing Arthur to the brink.
But fortunately, things turned around. They caught him red-handed, and Arthur eventually tore off his mask.
Bentley had been too confident and hadn't thought things through enough - he had even falsified accounts and colluded with their rival companies.
His fate was predictable - he naturally lost his chance to compete and was kicked out of the Collins Group in disgrace.
What Evelyn and Arthur hadn't expected was that Bentley hadn't given up. Instead, he was secretly plotting another scheme behind the scenes.
And his appetite had grown even bigger - he didn't just want to swallow the Collins Group, he wanted to drag Evelyn and Theodore into it too, destroying them all.
After all, to Bentley, Arthur and Evelyn were one unit - hurting the White family was the same as hurting Arthur himself.
"I strongly suspect now that Euro New Ventures is the financial channel for the old Collins Group remnants!"
These people had risen from the ashes again, which was truly annoying.
They seemed unwilling to give up power, unwilling to let him take the top position at the Collins Group, so they were trying everything to torment him.
Seeing Arthur's serious expression, Evelyn understood how seriously he was taking this.
His judgment was correct, but even so, they couldn't act rashly. After all, their opponent was that two-faced Bentley.
He had been patient enough to spend so much time setting up so many traps, clearly holding a grudge, and things were definitely not that simple.
If they acted carelessly, they might fall into traps he had set, and years of hard work could be destroyed in an instant.
"Arthur," Evelyn calmly reminded him, "even if Bentley is the one behind this, we need to be fully prepared before we test him."
"I understand," Arthur's thinking aligned with hers. "I think Bentley is trying to indirectly control Theodore's security company through investment and cooperation, and thereby interfere with the Conservation Plan."
They were targeting the Conservation Plan, so Theodore, who was involved in it, was also one of their targets.
They wanted to quietly use Theodore and his security company to achieve their own goals - their scheming was really too deep.
"I'll remind Theodore to be careful. I'm sure he'll notice something too."
Evelyn thought for a moment, then said to Arthur: "But we can't keep being passive either. Since Bentley wants to meddle in the Conservation Plan so badly, we need to show him just how wrong he is!"
Passively accepting wasn't her style, especially since this wasn't the first time Bentley had made a move against them.
His various terrible actions had already crossed their bottom line. No matter how good-tempered they were, they couldn't continue to tolerate it.
