Chapter 160 The Curtain Temporarily Falls

Chapter 160 The Curtain Temporarily Falls

Evelyn and Arthur spent a full day and night at the amusement park with the four kids.

The children were exhausted from playing, but still couldn't bear to leave. They sat in the toy cars, looking at them with longing eyes.

Evelyn chuckled and gently stroked their heads, saying, "This isn't the last time we'll come to the amusement park. Daddy and Mommy promise we'll make time to be with you from now on, and we'll come back to the amusement park again."

"Really?"

The four children's eyes widened when they heard her promise.

"When has Mommy ever lied to you?" Arthur helped persuade them. "Aren't Daddy and Mommy the most trustworthy?"

That was true. They had never failed to keep any promise they made to the kids, which was exactly why the children felt so secure.

The four children answered in unison and nodded hard.

By the time Evelyn and Arthur brought the kids home, they were all so tired they were barely conscious.

"Mommy..."

Ella rubbed her eyes and buried her head in Evelyn's arms, too tired to even lift her head.

Evelyn smiled and shook her head, carried them to bed, changed them into pajamas, and tucked them in.

"Look how tired the kids are."

Evelyn said quietly to Arthur, "They were this exhausted but still didn't want to go home. Must have been really fun."

"So we need to bring them here more often," Arthur smiled at her. "We can't leave any regrets in their childhood."

Seeing the children so excited and happy made him feel more satisfied than earning tens of millions of dollars.

Evelyn and the children were the most important things in his heart. As long as he could make them smile, anything he did was worth it.

After settling the children, Evelyn finally had time for her own things.

She went to the study, opened her computer, and started handling work emails. She soon saw a message Jerry had sent her.

The email included a report on the complete elimination of Falcon's remaining nodes, and at the end, he expressed his gratitude to her.

"Ms. White, thank you for teaching me the meaning of the mission. I learned a lot and understood its importance."

Evelyn silently read through the entire email, closed the computer with some emotion, and looked out the window.

The night outside was quiet, just like her heart—calm and peaceful.

"How's it going? All done with work?"

Arthur walked over slowly, handed her a cup of hot coffee, and asked with concern.

He knew it wasn't easy for Evelyn. Finding the right balance between work and family was a difficult thing.

Even Evelyn had to carefully weigh and handle such situations cautiously.

Evelyn took the steaming coffee. Warmth spread from her palm as she nodded, "Everything has come to a pause for now. Falcon International Corporation's remaining nodes have been eliminated, too."

Although Falcon International Corporation had targeted her and Arthur at every turn, even going after their children, in the end, they had salvaged the situation and defeated them.

The light fell on her profile. Evelyn's expression was firm and composed.

When talking about things related to the children, she was always like this, making people feel at ease.

"That's good."

Hearing that things were resolved, Arthur's worried heart could finally relax.

During this time, he had been constantly worried about Evelyn and the children, afraid they might get hurt somehow.

But after going through this, each of them had gained a lot and grown significantly.

And Evelyn was no longer just someone to be protected, but the center and balance point of the entire system. Her presence had become a symbol of calm and decisiveness.

"Evelyn."

Arthur reached out and held Evelyn's hand, looking straight at her and saying, "I want you and the kids to be happy, to fully enjoy your own lives."

No matter who tried to stand in the way, he wouldn't allow it. Protecting Evelyn and the children was his responsibility.

Evelyn knew he had always been concerned about this. She smiled and nodded, "Why so serious? I know what you're thinking. You've already done enough. Some things are just beyond our control."

She and Arthur weren't gods—how could they make everything go perfectly? She just hoped to be with him, accompanying the children through ordinary and peaceful days.

Seeing Evelyn understand him so well, Arthur couldn't help but step forward and hug her.

"The kids are all asleep. How about we get some rest early, too?"

Evelyn smiled and agreed, setting aside the coffee she'd only taken two sips of.

After the military training program ended, the related results also attracted widespread attention at the official level.

Theodore's security company was recommended by the military as a national-level partner unit for its outstanding performance in crisis response, command systems, and psychological intervention, and entered the list for the new round of civilian and strategic security system evaluation.

This was also an honor for Theodore, and Arthur keenly sensed the market trend and had a new idea. He invited Theodore to his home.

Theodore's arrival excited the four children. They called out "Uncle" and happily rushed to greet him.

Theodore hadn't seen them in a while either. He picked up Ella and asked about how they'd been doing.

The children talked about all the little things from their time at the base, each more enthusiastic than the last.

"Alright, you guys go play by yourselves. Your dad and mom have something to discuss with me."

It wasn't until Arthur stepped in with a smile that the children reluctantly returned to their seats and continued with their homework.

The three of them went to the study together, and Theodore immediately asked, "What did you need me for?"

He knew Arthur wouldn't call him over for no reason—there must be something important to discuss.

"Actually, I have a project. I want to connect your company's security system with the Collins Group's newly established security technology department. I'm planning to create an integrated system combining defense, medical care, and rescue. Would you be interested?"

Arthur wasn't just thinking randomly. He immediately pulled out a proposal and handed it to Theodore. "This requires cooperation between both companies. I think this is a project with good prospects."

Theodore carefully read through the proposal and nodded in response, "This is indeed a good suggestion. It fits with market development and will attract a lot of attention."

Although he had no particular fondness for Arthur, he had to admit that the man had a sharp mind and could always spot opportunities that others overlooked.
