Chapter 101 A Generous Gift
Arthur's proposal to Sarah became the hottest topic on the internet for a while, and their union became the focus of attention in both the financial and art circles.
The White family and the Collins family also got together again because of this happy occasion.
Compared to six years ago, the atmosphere was more relaxed, but although Richard and Daisy had accepted Arthur, they still held some reservations because of past events.
"Now that Evelyn and Arthur are back together, we also hope Evelyn can be happy."
Daisy was the first to speak, looking gently at Evelyn. "She's been through a lot these past six years, raising Julian and Ella on her own. It really hasn't been easy. I don't want her to get hurt again, and I don't want to see her cry."
Daisy spoke tactfully, clearly still bothered by Arthur's behavior six years ago.
If history repeated itself, she didn't know how heartbroken she would be, not to mention Evelyn herself.
"We feel the same way you do," Elizabeth said proactively. "Evelyn is a good girl, and the Collins family will definitely treat her well. If Arthur dares to treat her badly, I'll be the first to object, and I'll teach him a lesson!"
Her biggest regret was not treating Evelyn well back then, and instead, treasuring Seraphina like a precious gem.
Evelyn's brilliance was overshadowed by the Collins family, only showing itself after she left, which made Elizabeth feel somewhat guilty.
Evelyn listened from the side and couldn't help but laugh.
Arthur immediately stepped forward with a smile. "Mom, Dad, Grandma, since I'm marrying Evelyn, I won't let her suffer any grievances."
"What happened before was my fault. I've deeply reflected on it. From now on, I'll personally take care of Evelyn and the children's daily needs!"
After speaking, he took out a document and handed it to Richard and Daisy. "This is my gift to you. I hope you'll accept it. It's a token of my sincerity."
Daisy hesitantly took it, and after seeing what was written in the document, her eyes widened in surprise. She looked back at Richard.
"This is too much."
The value of the gift was jaw-dropping, as it could easily be exchanged for multiple apartments in the city center.
Richard immediately shook his head, wanting to refuse, "Arthur, as long as you treat Evelyn well, we'll..."
Arthur understood what they meant. He smiled and took Evelyn's hand, exchanging a smile with her before saying, "Mom, Dad, no gift is too much. You raised Evelyn and put in so much effort. Now that I'm taking Evelyn home as my wife, of course, I need to prepare a generous gift. Please accept it, so Evelyn and I can feel at ease."
"That's right," Elizabeth chimed in. "This is both a gift and a thank-you, thanking the White family for being willing to forgive us and letting Evelyn marry Arthur again despite past grudges."
Seeing Arthur and Elizabeth so insistent, Richard and Daisy couldn't refuse anymore.
Looking at the substantial gift in their hands and understanding Arthur's attitude toward this marriage, Richard and Daisy's hearts gradually softened, and they smiled with relief.
While the two families were talking, Theodore walked in. He had just finished his work and looked a bit travel-worn. Seeing Arthur holding Evelyn's hand, he didn't say anything.
He remained cold toward the Collins family and Arthur, but he formally acknowledged him.
After all, Arthur was Evelyn's choice, and he respected Evelyn's decision.
"Alright, everyone, sit down," Elizabeth said with a smile. "Right now, the top priority for the Collins family and the White family is their wedding. Let's quickly set a date for the wedding and let these two kids have their ceremony soon!"
She just wanted to announce to the world immediately that Arthur and Evelyn were a perfect match and legally married.
She also hoped to give Evelyn a perfect wedding to make up for the regrets of six years ago.
"That's right. Everything else can wait, but the wedding must be put on the agenda!"
Daisy immediately nodded in agreement, picking up her phone to choose a date. "We need to find a good day and have a lively celebration! Whatever we can do, we absolutely won't refuse!"
Elizabeth also chimed in, "I think the 8th of next month would be great. Although the timing is a bit tight, the Collins family will handle everything! We won't shortchange Evelyn. We'll definitely hold a grand and magnificent wedding!"
Seeing everyone sitting together, endlessly discussing her and Arthur's wedding, Evelyn couldn't help but smile.
For the first time, she felt like her family had been put back together. This warm scene was impossible to see six years ago.
The two families were no longer at odds, but instead working together for the same thing, competing to come up with ideas.
The meal lasted a long time. Just discussing their wedding took two hours.
That evening, Arthur and Evelyn returned home, both feeling like they could still hear the chattering voices in their ears.
After Evelyn put the children to sleep, she lay in bed, looking at the moonlight outside the window, feeling deeply moved.
The wedding was set for the 8th of next month, and there were countless things to prepare.
Everything was happening so fast that it didn't feel real, especially seeing her parents and Elizabeth together. It felt like a dream.
"Evelyn."
Arthur finished tidying up the living room and walked in slowly, handing her an exquisite invitation. "Take a look at the invitation. I had people work overtime to make it. Do you like it?"
Evelyn held the invitation, her lips curving slightly, feeling secure and warm inside.
The invitation was beautifully and uniquely designed. When opened, it showed her and Arthur's names inside.
She gently traced the words with her fingers, feeling that the years of separation finally had a destination, and she and Arthur were finally entering the halls of marriage.
"I like it."
After looking at it for a long time, Evelyn nodded. "These are small things. You don't need to worry so much."
"How can they be small things?" Arthur immediately objected, pulling her into his arms. "Anything related to you is not a small thing."
"Evelyn, I told you, I'll give you the best, including this wedding. I'll make you feel like you're the most beautiful and happiest bride in the world." He added.
Evelyn nestled in Arthur's embrace and smiled confidently. "I believe you, Arthur."
Whatever Arthur promised, he would definitely do. Evelyn had confidence in him.
He wouldn't deceive her, and he wouldn't let her down again. They had opened a new chapter in their lives, and from now on they would walk hand in hand together.
