Chapter 100 Marry Me
Arthur had no intention of spilling the beans just yet. Instead, he simply smiled and gave Evelyn a warm hug without saying a word.
To Evelyn, this charity event was just another day in the park, but the kids seemed to think otherwise.
"Mom, do you think this dress looks good on you? I think it's perfect!"
"But I think this one's better. You should wear the pearl earrings with it, like a real lady!"
"I love it when Mom wears that one. It makes her look so elegant! She should wear the whole set!"
The kids were all chattering away, making Evelyn laugh.
"Alright, it's just a charity event. No need to go all out."
She pulled the kids into a hug and gently said, "What's important here is raising funds for those in need, not what I wear. Let's keep our eyes on the goal!"
"But..."
Ella seemed to want to say something, but was quickly interrupted by her brothers.
"But we also want Mom to look beautiful and be the star of the evening!"
John clung to her, acting cute, while James and Julian joined in, pleading.
Evelyn couldn't quite figure out what was going on with them, but she eventually gave in, agreeing reluctantly.
After all, if it made the kids happy, dressing up a bit more formally wouldn't hurt.
The day of the charity gala arrived quickly. The entire hall was dazzling, filled with international media.
The kids, as the angels of the art fund, became the center of attention, mingling through the crowd.
"No wonder they're Mr. and Mrs. Collins' kids. They're so adorable and beautiful, just like their parents!"
"I have a feeling something big is going to happen tonight."
This was the first time Arthur and Evelyn had officially brought the kids to a public event, making it particularly significant.
The reporters whispered among themselves, sensing something was up, never letting their cameras down for a second.
"Mom!"
Ella ran over to Evelyn, her eyes lighting up as soon as she saw her. "Mom, you look so beautiful today!"
Evelyn, usually understated and elegant with her light makeup, was in a stunning gown tonight, capturing everyone's attention the moment she stepped in.
Even the kids, who saw her every day, were momentarily stunned.
Evelyn smiled and patted Ella's head, then turned to look at Arthur beside her.
Arthur's heart was pounding as he held Evelyn's shoulder, a smile playing on his lips.
"I'm so happy to be here with you and our children for this charity event."
He then took Evelyn's hand and led her to the stage, addressing the reporters. "The Collins Group has always been committed to charitable activities, and I've always been actively involved because I believe charity is more than just an event; it's a relay race. By giving a little support to those in need, we might change their lives, bringing them hope."
Arthur didn't see himself as a savior, just someone hoping to spark more interest in charity so those in hardship could find some relief.
"I also want to thank someone special, and that's Sarah."
Arthur turned to Evelyn, his voice trembling slightly. "I'm so grateful that after six years, she forgave my mistakes and accepted me back."
As he spoke, he knelt on one knee, pulling out the ring she had given back six years ago, asking with deep emotion and focus, "Will you marry me again?"
Evelyn's breath caught. She stared at Arthur, struggling to process what was happening.
Did she hear right?
A proposal?
Even though they had reconciled, she never imagined he would propose publicly.
"I know you've been through a lot," Arthur said, not rushing her, but pleading, "And some of that was my fault. I took a long detour to realize you're the one I want to spend my life with. I am willing to spend the rest of my life making up for my mistakes. Will you give me this chance?"
Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events, and the cameras all focused on Evelyn, waiting for her response.
"What's happening? A proposal? My ears aren't deceiving me, right? Mr. Collins is proposing to Sarah!"
"If this gets out, it'll blow up social media. Quick, get it on camera!"
Evelyn bit her lip, too moved to speak, covering her mouth as her body trembled slightly.
"Sarah, say yes!"
The crowd cheered, and the four kids ran up, surrounding them.
"Mom, look how sincere Dad is! He prepared the ring and proposed in front of everyone. He must have planned this for a long time!"
"Yeah, no one loves you more than Dad. You won't find another like him in the world!"
"Mom, don't hesitate. Dad is sincere! And if he ever treats you badly, we won't let him off!"
The kids had clearly sided with Arthur, each persuading Evelyn in their own way.
Evelyn found it amusing and wiped away her tears. "So, you all were in on this with Arthur. No wonder you kept urging me to dress up nicely today. It was all a plan!"
She had only put on the elaborate dress because of their persuasion.
"That's because Dad wanted you to look beautiful for the proposal, leaving no regrets!"
John said confidently, snuggling up to Evelyn and blinking his eyes. "Mom, don't you love Dad?"
The kids' eager faces made Evelyn laugh.
"Of course, I love him."
She turned to Arthur, speaking seriously. "Yes, I will marry you!"
Arthur, ecstatic, slipped the ring onto her finger, then stood up and embraced her tightly.
They kissed passionately in front of the cameras, under everyone's gaze.
"Oh my God!"
The reporters were stunned, snapping photos like crazy.
Arthur's proposal to Evelyn quickly trended, causing social media platforms to crash.
"This is so romantic. I believe in love again! No matter how many years pass, the right person is always you. This is a real-life fairy tale!"
