Forty one- The Weight of Restraint

Forty one- The Weight of Restraint
Aria’s POV

It was time for the last class of the day and the dread and contempt in my heart can’t even be explained.

The bell rang for the second time telling us we were all expected to be seated and anyone who isn't seated in their various classes is late and I just happen to be one of them. I managed to assure Lev and Elara that I would be fine and there is no need to skip the last class when we had already made it through the day but now standing in front of the class I can't help but wonder what the fuck I was thinking.

"If you are not interested in going in we are and you are in our way" A voice I had prayed would not be directed at me today spoke up making me swallow hard in fear. I didn't look up nor did I look in their direction, I simply stepped aside from the door hoping they would simply go in but how stupid can I be?

"What's wrong? Scholarship student wants to start skipping classes? The principal would love to hear this, right guys?" Marissa laughed, her little minions nodding in unison at her words.

I stood quietly not wanting to engage with them but obviously didn't want that, " What does a scholarship student like you even know that you were chosen to be Kael’s tutor? A poor wretched omega on scholarship in a school we all can easily afford is tutoring the almighty Alpha heir, the next leader of our pack. I am pretty sure they only offered you that role out of pity" She said with pure disgust on her face, her words would have hurt if I hadn't asked myself these same questions a while back. She can't hurt me with words I have already said to myself, it doesn't work that way.

"Please Marissa, I am out of your way now,you can go," I said calmly.

The next few seconds happened in a blur as a loud slap landed on my cheeks, my ears ringing at the impact. I held my cheeks to ease the pain, blinking back tears from my eyes.

"Never speak to me when I am speaking to you you don't have such a right, do you hear me Omega" she spat out, breathing hard.

Isla had been quiet for days but before I could realize what was happening she had taken over, pushing me to the back of our mind where she usually stayed and took my position.

The three girls backed away with fear and shock in their eyes as they watched me, probably because of the change in eye color from bright blue to the icy blue eyes of my beloved wolf. She attempted lunching at Marissa but a hand wrapped around me stopping Isla from whatever she was going to do.

"Aria, they are not worth it please," Lyra’s soft voice said into my back as she tightened her hold on me like she was scared I would break free but her singular act of holding me back had already pushed Isla back like she was never there, what you get for having a weak wolf, she can't hold on for long.

"Didn't you see what she did? What did I do wrong that she slapped me?" I barked angrily.

"I saw her, I saw everything but please Aria just let them be" Lyra pleaded.

"Why the fuck are you holding her back, the fucking weak omega feels strong today, allow her to exercise whatever strength she thinks she has so that when I am done with her she will at least feel a sense of fulfillment that she tried to fight back" Marissa spoke up fueling my undiluted anger.

"Shut the fuck up, Marissa or you would have me to contend with" Lyra snapped angrily at her.

I could see how much she wanted to respond but she made the smarter decision to stay quiet.

"Please Aria, let's just get to class, we are already pretty late"

She unwrapped her hands from around me, coming forward so she could face me. She stared at me for a few seconds before slowly turning my now-brushed cheek so she could see it.

"Shit" Lyra cursed hard.

"It is bad right?" I asked already knowing the answer to my question.

"Exactly why you should have let me teach her a little lesson" I mumbled trying to push down my anger, I don't even let Mum and her excuse of a boyfriend hurt my face and something as insignificant as Marissa just did so, She definitely has something coming her way, that I can assure her.

"I totally understand, Aria, but there are three of them and not to talk down on you or anything but we both know you are only acting out of anger and once your anger dies down completely you can't even fight off the weakest of them not to talk of all three of them" her eyes were soft and sincere trying to show me she meant no harm buy her comment but only to make me see reasons and deep down I knew the truth too, but it felt good to feel an ounce of power for once. No matter how little, or short-lived it was, it meant a lot.

"It's fine, let’s just go" I sighed in defeat.

"Of course, walk away like the weak bitch you are" Marissa spat out but this time Lyra launched for her and I didn’t even think of stopping her.

"I can see you don’t take warnings when said nicely so I would help you" Lyra seethed. I smiled to myself glad that she would at least get a little warning even if it wasn't from me but the voice that boomed through the entire hallway stopped all of us in our tracks.

"ALL OF YOU TO MY OFFICE NOW" Principal Verya barked angrily.

This was exactly what Lyra was trying to avoid and I have a feeling things a going to be really bad for me considering my rank...what a fucked up day.
