Thirty nine-Burning Blue Eyes
Thirty nine-Burning Blue Eyes
Kael's POV
"Kael, have you seen the posts?" Lyra asked with anger and irritation in her voice as she scrolled through her phone. We were currently on our way to school and for some unknown reason, she was more than willing to go in my car today compared to other days.
"No and I am not interested in seeing them. They just gossip about people nonstop for no reason, I don't even know why you would invest your time in reading such trash" I rolled my eyes.
"I hate them too but trust me you would want to read this one," she said, her eyes still glued to her screen. Whatever was kinda, those posts seemed to be really getting on her nerves because her eyes were starting to change colors and that wasn't good considering the type of wolf Lyra is.
"Lyra, let me see" I requested slowing down and parking at the side of the road.
'Alpha heir, Kael defends his side piece, picking sides with an Omega over his chosen Luna just to hide his secret' the heading read in bold letters, there was a picture of Aria and me entering my room yesterday just below the caption with horns drawn on Aria's head like she was some villain.
Aria tried warning me that she had a feeling that someone was following us and I didn't pay much attention to it and now this??
"What the fuck is this supposed to be?" I spat out, trying to read through the comments everyone was making. All I saw was red as I scanned through, some comments were being flagged down while some were replied to with equally mean comments too. I didn't need anyone to tell me it was all Lev's way of protecting Aria but I will not be having this. This has Marissa written all over it and she would have to take it down, easily or by force.
"I don't know, I just stumbled on it. The whole school is going wild, everyone seems to have something to say" Lyra answered by taking the phone back from me.
"Marissa better be ready for what is coming her way" I quickly started the car, heading to school with a new motive in mind.
"Kael, I have been waiting for you," Marissa said in a whiny voice just as I walked the main door into the Academy. She was walking towards Lyra and me with her little minions by her side, their heels clicking loudly against the ground. The look on her face told me a lot of things. I kept my face blank as I waited for her to confirm what I was sure she was thinking.
All eyes turned to us as the whispers and noises died down like they were all waiting for me to walk in. Lyra locked eyes with me giving me a knowing look before walking away probably to look for Aria. Her care and concern over Aria is growing daily and a part of me is not comfortable with it, and I am not ready to face that reason just yet.
"I found your little prostitute, you owe me an apology for treating me that way over such a cheap girl" she spat once she was close enough, folding her arms across her chest angrily. Drax stirred angrily at the harsh words directed at Aria but I made sure to keep him tucked safely, I can't risk any of that right now, there is already so much on ground.
"What is the meaning of all these posts Marissa?" I asked, totally ignoring the rubbish she just said.
"Really Kael, that's your problem? You hurt your future Luna in front of the whole school and you are bothered about that. Well if you must know, I had to find out what was wrong and I'm glad I did, now I understand more what happened and I forgive you. If you took your time to read through you would see there were no single mean comments about you. I made sure of that" she said proudly flinging her hair over her shoulders like she was waiting for me to congratulate her.
"You send someone to trail me in my own home and you think you have done something good?" I spat irritated.
She looked really shocked like she was not expecting my words, which got me wondering what fantasies she has in her head about me.
"Kael, don't make it sound that way, it was nothing like that"
"How is it then? Make me understand" She kept glancing around like she couldn't magically make everyone disappear. Guess her little show isn't going as she planned.
"I was only looking out for you, that slit probably did something to you but I am here to undo whatever she did" she battled her lashes at me in a manner that was supposed to be seductive but all I felt was the pure rage and anger that was growing in my heart.
"If you must know that slut is my tutor and nothing more but I would not have you defame my name all for your personal agenda which I do not care to know about. If you had any glimpse of respect for me you would have at least tried to know the real truth before spreading shit about me. I want all those posts taken down before the end of our first class this morning, am I clear?" I spat angrily ignoring the look of shock on all their faces. I guess having a tutor is no longer a secret, I just knew it was only going to be a matter of time before it was out.
"Yes," Marissa whispered.
"I said, am I clear?" I am used to a deadly voice moving my gaze between Marissa and her minions. They all nodded in unison, fear evident in their eyes.
"Yes, Alpha" They all quickly scribbled off but I didn't miss the tears that were now in Marissa’s eyes probably from expecting so much from me but the earlier she starts to know her place the better for us all, we are not little kids anymore.
"Now, you all should move or things will get messier" I barked out at the students that still lingered in the hallway, they didn't need any more warning as they all took off for their various classes for the day. My next words lodged in my throat as my eyes landed on a particular pair of blue eyes that was starting to haunt my dreams. Tears were streaming down her cheeks at an alarming rate and I didn’t need a soothsayer to tell me why, she heard everything.
My heart felt heavy and tight as I watched her, the hurt and anger in her eyes so much that I couldn't even bear to hold her gaze anymore. It suddenly felt like I was feeling both our pains all at once, making things so much worse.
Lev stood at her side with another she-wolf I have seen with them on a few occasions, they were both trying to console her, her shoulders shaking as she cried. Lev stared at me with so much anger, it actually came as a surprise that he hadn't launched at me yet.
I could also feel Drax’s anger with me as he withdrew like he didn't want anything to do with me and I can't even blame him, I don't want anything to do with myself either but getting her to hate me would have to be the best option right now. Things between us are getting tense and I can't have that...this singular reason of hurting her this way is the exact reason why we can't work...I am too messed up.
