Chapter 57

But I still held my temper and said, "Dorothy, you know that company was built through the hard work of a few of us. Russell did this without consulting us first, and it has a significant impact on the company. I hope you can reconsider and not accept this share transfer for now, okay?"

Dorothy chuckled softly, and to me, it sounded particularly grating. "It's not up to me. Russell wants to give it to me, so why should I refuse? Besides, having me in the company might even make it better."

I clenched my fists, struggling to contain my anger. "Dorothy, don't go too far. You don't understand the company's operations and haven't contributed anything. What right do you have to accept the fruits of others' hard work so easily?"

Dorothy's expression changed slightly, a hint of displeasure flashing in her eyes. "How can you say I haven't contributed? I've always supported Russell behind the scenes, and this is his decision. If you have any complaints, take them up with him, not me."

Just as we were at an impasse, Russell suddenly appeared. He saw Dorothy and me arguing at the door and frowned.

"What are you two doing?" Russell asked.

I turned to look at him, my eyes full of disappointment. "Russell, you really are something. You want to transfer the company's shares to her without saying a word. Have you ever considered our feelings?"

Russell looked at Dorothy, then at me, and slowly said, "These are my shares, and I have the right to decide what to do with them. Besides, I believe Dorothy can bring new opportunities for the company."

I could hardly believe my ears. He was still speaking up for Dorothy. "Russell, don't forget, when we started this company together, we agreed to share the hardships and make the company bigger and stronger. Now, for her, you're disregarding all our hard work?"

Russell was silent for a moment, then said, "The situation is different now. The company needs new energy, and I think Dorothy can bring that."

I was so angry that I was shaking. I turned and left. I knew that continuing to talk to him was useless; he was completely bewitched by Dorothy.

Back in the car, Zachary and Melinda saw my angry face and knew things hadn't gone well.

I briefly recounted the conversation with Dorothy and Russell. Zachary couldn't help but curse, "Russell is utterly foolish!"

Melinda frowned, thinking about what to do next. "It seems we can only approach this from other angles. Since we can't stop the share transfer, we need to find ways to minimize its impact on the company."

I nodded. Although I was still furious, I understood that now was not the time to act impulsively. We had to think about the company's future.

In the following days, we began to replan the company's business direction, strengthen ties with other partners, and try to mitigate the instability that the share transfer might cause.

We believed that as long as we worked together, we could eventually get the company back on track and show Russell and Dorothy how foolish their actions were.

As Dorothy became more involved in the company, her unrealistic ideas and bossy attitude caused a lot of discontent among the employees. The previously efficient and orderly workflow was often disrupted by her, and some important projects were delayed or deviated due to her poor management.

Melinda saw this and was anxious. But every time she made reasonable suggestions and objections, Russell always sided with Dorothy, supporting her every decision.

"If this continues, Dorothy will ruin the company!" Melinda complained in the office, her brow furrowed with exhaustion and frustration.

Zachary was also indignant. "Russell is completely blinded by love, ignoring the company's well-being. We need to find a way to turn things around. We can't just watch our hard work go to waste."

I sat in my chair, rubbing my temples, constantly thinking of a solution. "Maybe we can unite with other shareholders and pressure Russell to understand the severe situation the company is facing and the harm Dorothy's actions are causing."

Everyone agreed this was a feasible plan, so we began to privately contact other shareholders and inform them of the company's current situation in detail.

Fortunately, the other shareholders were not entirely oblivious. They had also noticed the recent anomalies in the company and were dissatisfied with Dorothy's behavior.

After some communication and preparation, we finally convened an emergency shareholders' meeting. At the meeting, I was the first to speak, listing the series of problems caused by Dorothy's involvement in the company and presenting relevant data and specific instances of project delays.

"Fellow shareholders, look at the current state of the company. We can't let the company decline because of one person's selfish desires," I said earnestly.

The other shareholders nodded, their faces showing serious expressions.

At this point, Russell nonchalantly said, "These are just temporary issues. Dorothy just needs time to adapt to the company's operations. Things will get better."

Zachary couldn't help but retort, "Russell, stop deceiving yourself. Dorothy doesn't have the ability to manage the company. If she continues to mess around, the company will be doomed. We didn't start this company to let it be destroyed by someone like Dorothy."

Melinda also chimed in, "Yes, Russell, you need to wake up. We must take action now. Either Dorothy steps down from the decision-making level, or she needs to learn how to manage the company properly instead of acting recklessly."

Russell was left speechless by our words, but there was still a hint of stubbornness in his eyes, as if he was unwilling to compromise easily.

Just as the shareholders' meeting was at a stalemate, a commotion suddenly erupted in the company.

It turned out that an important project partner, dissatisfied with the recent chaos in the company, decided to terminate their cooperation with us and had already sent someone to formally notify us.

This news was like a bombshell, instantly making everyone realize the severity of the problem.

"Great, now the company's reputation and business have taken a severe hit, all because of you and that Dorothy!"

Melinda pointed at Russell, angrily.

Russell's expression finally changed. "I'll handle it."

With that, he hurriedly left the meeting room.
