Chapter 46
Dorothy carefully reviewed both the analysis report and the stock analysis report, finding no flaws, and then looked at the stock prices displayed on the computer screen.
As she looked at the stock prices, her frown deepened.
She looked at the data for the Carnegie Corporation stock, and her frown deepened even more.
The stock chart for the Carnegie Corporation seemed to have been deliberately altered. Although the data still showed a steady decline, the rate of increase was more than double what it had been before!
"Could it be someone inside the Carnegie Corporation causing trouble?" Dorothy speculated in her mind.
Lawrence had extensive connections, and if he wanted to bring down the Carnegie Corporation, it would be too easy for him. He wouldn't need to go to such lengths, and besides, he was the chairman of Solar Empire Holdings Group. If he wanted to acquire the Carnegie Corporation, he wouldn't need to put in so much effort.
But if it wasn't him, then who could it be?
Dorothy was utterly perplexed.
As she thought about this, something suddenly occurred to her, and she quickly dialed Russell's number.
"Russell, can you help me?" she asked, her tone carrying a hint of pleading.
Russell was taken aback and slowly asked, "What's wrong?"
Dorothy bit her lip and said, "I'm in trouble. The Carnegie Corporation's stock has been continuously declining."
"Don't worry, take your time and tell me what happened," Russell comforted her.
Dorothy handed him her analysis report and said, "I suspect this plan is a deliberate trap set specifically against the Carnegie Corporation, and then someone will use money to acquire the Carnegie Corporation."
Russell's brow furrowed upon hearing this and asked, "Who? The Carnegie Corporation has no shortage of enemies."
Dorothy shook her head in frustration and said, "I don't know, but I have a feeling this has something to do with the Stuart Family."
Russell, knowing the inside story, did not respond directly.
Dorothy said, "I will get to the bottom of this."
Russell nodded and asked, "What do you need me to do?"
"Help me contact Lawrence and ask him to buy the Carnegie Corporation stock for me, and let me sell the Carnegie Corporation stock to him within three hours," Dorothy said.
"Is that possible?" Russell asked hesitantly.
Dorothy said, "If I can do it, there's nothing that can't be done. Just follow my instructions."
Russell replied, "Alright, I'll do my best to help you."
After hanging up the phone, Dorothy reviewed the analysis report and stock analysis report once more to ensure there were no mistakes, then left the room and headed downstairs to the living room.
Lawrence was sitting on the sofa, leisurely sipping coffee.
Seeing Dorothy walk in, he smiled.
Dorothy sat directly across from him and said, "Mr. Beaufort, I want to know if you think my analysis report and stock analysis report have been tampered with."
"Of course not," Lawrence said. "If I had done anything, you would have discovered it by now. But I do admire your intelligence, Dorothy."
Dorothy snorted inwardly and then said, "The Carnegie Corporation is in crisis now. I hope you can help the Carnegie Corporation. As for the reward, I'm at your disposal, as long as you don't ask for too much."
"Miss Carnegie, you're joking. I'm not a greedy person," Lawrence said with a smile.
Dorothy said, "Then please, Mr. Beaufort, handle this matter as soon as possible so I can report back."
"Don't worry, I will fulfill my promise," Lawrence said with a smile.
The next day, Dorothy arrived at the company early and held a high-level meeting.
She explained her conclusions from the previous night and handed the analysis report to the executives.
"Everyone, I believe you have all seen this analysis report. It is my evidence. If you trust me, you can continue to support me. If you don't, I have nothing to say. I can't force you to support me, but I hope you remember that you hold the fate of the Carnegie Corporation in your hands. I can only give you two options: either continue to support me or choose to abstain."
The conference room fell silent.
After a long while, someone finally stood up to oppose Dorothy. "I don't believe what you're saying."
Dorothy narrowed her eyes and looked at the shareholder. "What evidence do you need to prove what I'm saying?"
"Miss Carnegie, I don't believe what you're saying, but this report shows that the decline in the Carnegie Corporation's stock is completely different from what your stock analysts predicted. And this analysis report can't restore the Carnegie Corporation's stock to its normal price," the person said.
Dorothy coldly smiled and said, "In that case, I won't explain further. Believe it or not. But let me remind you, the position you hold now may be something you can never enjoy again. If the Carnegie Corporation's stock continues to decline, you all know very well what kind of situation you'll face."
As soon as she finished speaking, several shareholders stood up and said, "Dorothy, stop threatening us. Don't forget, if the Carnegie Corporation's stock continues to decline, you will also lose your job, go bankrupt, and end up on the streets. How will you maintain your current status then?"
Dorothy smiled coldly and said, "If the Carnegie Corporation's stock continues to decline, you can prepare to get out."
The person's face darkened.
Dorothy turned and walked out.
Back in her office, Dorothy immediately opened her laptop and checked the Carnegie Corporation's stock, finding that its market value had dropped to a historic low in recent days. It was even foreseeable that the Carnegie Corporation's stock could hit the limit down and be sold off at any time.
Dorothy felt terrible. She couldn't understand what she had done wrong to be framed like this.
She would never allow such a thing to happen. She had to find the mastermind behind it.
Her fingers tapped a few keys on the keyboard, and after closing the webpage, she fell silent.
Her gaze fell on the analysis report on her desk.
Her eyes lingered on the Carnegie Corporation's stock analysis report for a while before moving to another analysis report.
It was the analysis report she and Russell had discussed yesterday afternoon.
Although Dorothy didn't understand numbers at all, she knew that the Carnegie Corporation's situation was dire.
So, to save the Carnegie Corporation, she had to come up with a perfect solution.
At this moment, she suddenly remembered the analysis report from yesterday.
