Chapter 681 Victoria’s Jealousy

Chapter 681 Victoria’s Jealousy

Yolanda's fingers gripping the check turned white, and sharp pains shot through her chest.

She had always thought that with her father's connections, she could become the only one in Paxon's heart.

She never expected that he had been engaged long before she came into the picture.

Yolanda's eyes reddened as she looked at Paxon, "Paxon, will you marry her?"

Before Paxon could answer, Victoria suddenly laughed, "Is Ms. Sharp trying to ask whether Paxon and I are just in an arranged marriage with no real feelings, and will eventually break up?"

"No, I'm just curious. Paxon spent three years abroad and never mentioned you to anyone, and didn't even come home once in those three years. When you truly love someone, you can't bear to be apart that long. Everyone at the company says he's incapable of love."

"So you're sure he doesn't love me."

"Sorry, I'm just guessing. Maybe the feelings between you two are more... on a spiritual level."

Her tone was careful, but her words were full of provocation.

Victoria bit her lip and looked up at Paxon, "Do you think she's right?"

Not only was Paxon not angry, but a slight smile curved his lips.

He pinched Victoria's chin, his voice low, "We're not in an arranged marriage. You're the woman I've chosen since childhood—you were then, you are now, and you always will be."

He leaned close to Victoria's ear and chuckled softly, "Baby, are you jealous?"

"I'm not."

Watching their intimate interaction and hearing that "baby," Yolanda's fingers gripping the check tightened even more.

She saw affection in Paxon's eyes, a tenderness she had never seen before.

A shattering sound came from deep within her heart.

Just then, Atticus's voice came from the hospital room, "Yolanda, who's here?"

Yolanda immediately composed herself, quickly walked into the room, and handed the check to her father, "It's Paxon, here to see you."

Atticus frowned, "Who told you to tell him? Didn't I say not to tell anyone? He just got back to the country and has a ton of things to deal with. Why did you have to bother him?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Paxon walked in with Victoria.

He bent down to look at Atticus lying in the hospital bed and teased with a smile, "Yes, I do have a lot to do—like spending time with my fiancée and building our relationship, so you'll stop nagging me every day about how I don't live like a normal person and have no emotions."

Atticus snorted, "Your mouth is really sharp. I say one thing to you, and you give me back ten."

"You call this sharp? I haven't even said the harsh stuff yet. I'm afraid you'd stop breathing and I'd end up charged with murder. Not that I'm afraid of you dying—I just don't want my wife to become a widow. Don't flatter yourself."

Atticus couldn't help but laugh, "Fine, I won't flatter myself. Hurry up and introduce her to me. Who is she? Don't tell me you hired some actress for a hundred bucks just to make me die in peace."

Paxon put his arm around Victoria's shoulder and patted her head gently, "Don't say that. This is the woman I've cherished since childhood. Victoria, meet my mentor, Professor Sharp."

Atticus smiled at Victoria, "Victoria, you saw it yourself—I'm this sick and he's still making me angry. When you get back, give him a good talking-to for me."

Victoria smiled, "I will, but you have to promise me you'll cooperate with the doctors' treatment, Professor Sharp."

Seeing how well-matched they were, he smiled with relief, "Alright, I'll listen to you both and accept the surgery. I'm still waiting to attend your wedding."

Paxon said playfully, "One word from my fiancée and you agree to the surgery. Unbelievable."

He smiled and ruffled Victoria's hair, his eyes full of affection.

Atticus glanced at Yolanda standing nearby, her face pale, and smiled, "Alright, you just got back. Go spend time with your fiancée. You don't need to stay here—you'll just make me angry."

Paxon took Victoria's hand, "Okay, then I'm off on my date. You behave yourself, and when the team of specialists arrives, I'll arrange your surgery."

"Go on, go on. I get annoyed just looking at you."

Atticus's words were harsh, but his face wore a smile.

Only after the hospital room door closed did his smile slowly fade.

He looked up at Yolanda, who was still standing beside him in a daze, his voice tinged with reproach, "I told you long ago that someone like Paxon, who's been at the top of the pyramid since childhood, isn't someone you can handle. Why won't you give up? Now look—seeing them so loving together, if your heart hurts, you deserve it."

Yolanda's eyes reddened, "Dad, they've been apart for three years, and I've been the one by Paxon's side all this time. I don't believe he has no feelings for me."

Atticus snorted coldly, "You've been by his side for three years—has he ever had a meal alone with you? Besides work, has he ever talked to you about anything else? To put it bluntly, if it weren't for my connection, he probably wouldn't even look at you.

Give up now, or you'll be the only one who gets hurt. Don't say I didn't warn you."

After being scolded by her father, Yolanda's already aching heart became even more painful.

A nameless anger welled up from deep inside.

She didn't believe that someone as outstanding as herself couldn't compete with Victoria, just some pretty vase from a wealthy family.

What could she do besides spend money?

Besides her noble status, she was inferior to herself in every way.

Meanwhile.

After leaving the hospital room, Paxon was about to put his arm around Victoria's shoulder when she dodged away.

Without looking back, she walked huffily toward the exit.

Paxon quickly caught up and grabbed her wrist, asking with a smile, "Still jealous?"

Victoria glared at him fiercely, "No."

Paxon smiled and pinched her chin, "Really not? Then let me taste and see if you're lying."

With that, he slowly leaned down, moving toward Victoria's lips.

Victoria pushed him away, "Paxon, behave yourself."

"Okay, then we'll kiss when we get somewhere private."

He pulled Victoria quickly toward the parking lot.

As soon as they got in the car, he pressed her against the back seat, his large hand gently caressing Victoria's earlobe, his voice husky, "Victoria, can I kiss you now?"
