Chapter 19: "Lunch Break"
Chapter 19: "Lunch Break"
Davyn:
“Fill us in!” Birgir firmly shouted as the mist dissipated into the Council Chambers, quickly dodging three flying fists from Onyx, Mei, and Izzy with roaring growls.
Laughter erupted in thunderous waves as we stood up, smoothing out our shirts with nervous neck rolls as the three very pissed women stared at us with tilted smirks of murderous intent.
“Whoo! That puckered my butthole.” Druk roared in laughter with his brothers as the ladies calmed down, scooping Onyx into our embrace as her sweet aroma whipped violently along our nostrils.
“You “boys” never learn. I swear all the men in this family are brainless fools.” Izzy threw her hands up in defeat as her and Mei turned back around to the large wall painted in maps, blueprints, and pictures of the original “Speculum Castellum” or Mirror Castle of the First Supernatural Realm.
Mei and Izzy protested our attempts to kiss their cheeks with quick slaps to the chests, laughing brightly at their brutal stares. Desmond and Hilo fumbled through the large mahogany doors with scrolls and books, tossed and tucked in every available inch of space on the wooden cart as Ella and a few elders caught the falling debris of papers.
“You know, you “Dragons” don’t make our jobs any easier.” Desmond snipped an attitude as he leaned against the large black granite pillar, running his fingers through his long black locks to smooth them out.
“Don’t blame them. We’re the ones who brought up the Mirror Castle.” Zek grumbled lowly as he and Ziggy rolled along the floor on the library ladder, pinning up more maps and old hand scripted drawings of a large mountain to the massive mahogany paneled wall that stood a grand three stories.
“Our point!” Hilo snipped sharply as a large bolder of a book dropped to the ground with his foot being the designated stop. Hiding our suppressed laughs behind our fists as he hopped around on one foot, cursing every living thing in existence, until Ella sat him down with a gentle kiss to his pouty lips.
“The Fairy King acts like a “fairy sissy”.” Druk and his brothers stomped around in our link, laughing in their deep timbered voices choking back the muffled laughs that threatened to break free.
“Easy you three, but it was pretty funny.” Mikkel laughed in our link as Onyx tip-toed over a canvas of papers blanketed over the black granite flooring, plopping down Indian style as she began sorting through the disheveled pile stacked up to her shoulder.
“Okay, The Watchmen and Atlas are prepping the protection barriers around Demon Wolf; Draven and Lana are securing the Dragon Realm portals with Shadow Walkers and a few trained Dragon Guards.” Desmond stalked around with his phone in hand, assisting Hilo with the battered brown leather bolder that crash landed on his foot.
“Who wants to start this “shit parade”?” Izzy looked up from her awkward pile of papers she was sorting through with a scrunched nose, waving the flying dust away from her face with a sharp cough.
Walking around Onyx as she crawled across the pages, placing another in a sequence of detailed drawings, sliding back to her position with her luscious ass squeezed into her black leggings.
“Can we call “Lunch Break”?” Biting my knuckle in between my protruding fangs as Birgir and Mikkel laughed in our link.
“Focus you “Horny Teenager”.” Druk rumbled darkly from the shadows with a hissing grunt of annoyance.
“You know, you want a “Lunch Break” too.” Laughing back as his razor teeth snapped in my face, huffing a sooty cloud with those glowing green orbs dancing dangerously against the darkness.
“Baby, what are you doing?” Birgir asked puzzled as she switched a few pages with a confused expression, switching them back with her finger and thumb cupping her chin.
“It’s the story of the Realms and their creations but this doesn’t make sense. Either the pages are marked wrong or I’m missing something.” She looked up with a pouty face, causing our dragons to stir wildly as our pants grew tighter around our hips.
“Can…we…just…eat her!” The dragons purred in a weird clicking, sliding their slimy serpent tongues along their protruding fangs dripping with saliva.
“Nope! No Lunch Break.” Chuckling at the evil slitted serpent eyes that rolled in exasperation.
Side glancing my brothers as they stood with straight smiles, shifting their weight around on their heels as our bodies exploded with anticipation.
Desmond and Hilo sauntered over with shit eating grins as they studied the confusion, pointing to the drawings with perked brows.
“Let me see the next page.” Hilo asked with his head tilted, looking at the sequence with a baffled expression.
Onyx quickly slid back, grabbing the next page with haste.
“What is it?” Following the colorful ink drawings of bright, colorful skies and smiling faces of different creatures, then turning dark like a strange horror movie with blood and gruesome scenes of decapitated bodies.
“Actually, this belongs to the story of the “Phoenix”, but this hasn’t happened yet.” Hilo looked over his shoulder to Desmond as they shared a curious brow.
“Are they still alive?” The dragons went crazy with the mentioning of the “Phoenix”, pulling us into the darkness of our subconscious.
All three black scaled beasts sat like a massive wall of scales, horned snouts and glowing green orbs with toothy grins.
“Hey! What the Hell is the meaning of this?” Mikkel shouted in shock as we stood face-to-face with our dragons.
“Sit!” Ejder grumbled lowly as their tails thumped and snapped against the silky veil of the blackness.
Sharing a curious expression with my bothers as we crossed our arms, shivering in a strange wave of static as our muscles twitched and flexed under our arms.
“Stand if you please, but you will listen.” Volos interjected with a toothy grin, lifting his scaly lips against his sharp protruding fangs as his nostrils flared with a sooty exhale.
Birgir lifted his hand from his crossed arms, indicating they had the floor to speak as we stood silently watching the trio click and jowl rumble. Mikkel twirled his finger with a small green ball of flames, waiting for our dragons “to fill us the fuck in” on why they pulled us into a subconscious meeting.
“The “Phoenix” was actually a clan of special creatures, ones that were highly sought after for their “Healing and Regeneration” abilities. Dragons were the only other creatures with the equivalent ability to heal, but “Resurrection” was their true ability.” Ejder rolled his neck with a fluttering jowl as his blazing green eyes, slitted against his black scales.
“We know the myth of the “Phoenix rising from the Ashes”, so why does this have you all ruffled?” Birgir spoke strongly with a perked brow as his eyes slid between Mikkel and me.
“The Phoenix was revered in several cultures throughout history, but the one that is not mentioned is the “birth” from the ashes of the Fallen One. Before Shehad and the Silverfang Triplets walked this earth, Nuwa and the Gods roamed these lands looking for the “Bringers of Life”. Unicorns.” Volos grumbled out a fiery cloud of smoke as our jaws slacked open in disbelief.
“You mean the “things” with a horn protruding from its head, sparkling in glitter and shitting out rainbows? Those kinds of “Unicorns”?” Laughing darkly with my brothers as I motioned to my head with my fingers making an invisible horn.
“Yes and No. Unicorns are immortal creatures, giving “life” with the dust from their horn but not without a cost. The Gods and Nuwa stumbled onto the “Hadakaran”, which is the Hebrew word for Unicorn, guarding one of the eight gates to Babylon.”
“Hold up! You mean to tell us that the Gods were just walking around like “normal” people, looking for these “Unicorns” to create life, when life already existed?”
Mikkel cut off Druk with a nasty hiss as they stared at one another in a weird pissing match.
“Wait your turn to speak.” Ejder lowered his head like a slithering snake, turning his broad scaly head to the side as his green serpent eye narrowed onto Mikkel.
No matter how many times we looked at our dragons, it was always incredible to really see their massive scaly bodies move with a graceful fluidity, getting lost in the depths of their soul eating orbs.
“What the Gods didn’t realize was the “Unicorns” were the “Bringers of Death”. Just like in the “humans” beliefs of a “Good” that created life and a “Evil” that sought to destroy life, the Unicorns and Phoenix’s are our “Good” and “Evil”.” Druk grumbled lowly as Ejder, and Volos snarled in revulsion.
“Hold on. Hold on. What you’re saying is those drawings depict a scenario that hasn’t even happened yet, and it depicts our equivalent of “Good” fighting what?” Now it was my turn to speak, feeling the shivers of static roll over us in a strange blanket of swirling heat and electricity.
“We don’t know “what”, but we have a feeling it involves our Foxes and us, and that “Bat Shit Crazy” Fairy Queen.” Ejder rolled his head over to Birgir, huffing a cloudy ball of greenish flaming smoke.
