Chapter 88 She’s gone
As Aurora stepped out of the house, she headed towards Alec’s car which waited for her outside Arthur’s compound.
Stepping into the car, her eyes shimmered with tears. She never thought Walking away was going to be so easy.
Seeing her close to tears, Alec became worried again. He placed his hand on her shoulder and tried to comfort her.
“I know this isn’t easy, but I think this is best for you.” He uttered, and she bobbed slowly, her head lowered as tears dropped uncontrollably on her hands.
“Can we just leave this place? Drive me to the airport, please.” She said to him, and he nodded in obedience.
He ignited the engine and hit the road afterward. Aurora looked out of the window, staring at Arthur’s mansion as it slowly went out of sight.
They drove in silence until they got to the airport. Aurora alighted and Alec helped her with her bags in the back of the car.
After she held onto her two bags, she looked at Alec with a smile of appreciation on her face.
“Thank you so much, Alec, for everything. I’ll never forget how kind you have always been to me.” She uttered, and Alec shook his head with a faint smile.
“You don’t have to say that. It’s my responsibility as your friend to take good care of you.”
“If you didn’t want to, you wouldn’t, okay? And I appreciate that. But… this is where it all ends.” She responded, causing Alec to furrow his eyebrows.
“What do you mean by that?” He inquired.
“I need to be alone, Alec. I don’t think I want to talk to anyone until further notice, so please, don’t be mad at me if I tell you that this may be the last time you’d hear from me.” She explained.
Alec nodded reluctantly as fear for what she may do to herself if she’s alone overwhelmed him.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to check up on you at least once in a while over the phone?? You can tell me to call once a week or twice a week and I’ll stick to that and never do more than that.” He replied, and Aurora chuckled softly, shaking her head.
“No, Alec. You have helped me enough. I don’t want you to keep checking you on me. Don’t forget I’m an adult and I will be just fine.” She answered, and he nodded slowly.
“I should leave now. I wouldn’t want to miss my flight.” She uttered, turning to leave.
“At least tell me where you’re headed.” He uttered, and she shook her head and looked at him.
“Goodbye, Alec.” She said to him.
Watching her leave, Alec swallowed hard and brushed his hair backward with his hand. He felt pains seeing her leave, but he had to let her go.
He believed it was best for her to stay away from everyone she had known, so she could reflect on what happened and what next to do.
“Now she’s gone, will you now listen to me?” He heard someone say from behind him, and when he turned back to see who it was, it happened to be Anita.
He clenched his jaws and shook his head. “Have you been following me?” He asked in frustration, and she shrugged.
“Well, I’ve been bored lately. I decided to keep myself busy with whatever you think is going on between you and Anita. It’s so sad she had to leave you.”
“Nothing is going on between us.” Alec answered, walking to his car. Hopping in, Anita also jumped in before he could start the engine.
“But you told me you were starting to fall for her. Were you saying that just to make me jealous?”
“I said that because it’s the truth. I do like her, but you’ve destroyed everything so much, she doesn’t have any heart left to love.” Alec answered coldly, and Anita laughed.
“I deserve some accolades. I had to show her that she cannot mess with someone like me.”
“You made your point already. She’s gone and you can finally have Arthur to yourself. Just don’t involve me anymore. I’m so done with you and your crazy plans.” Alec retorted.
“What? Don’t try to act like a saint to me! Have you forgotten you even brought up the idea of killing her? And just because you spent a few days with her, you think you’re a good person. Oh please, you’re no different from me!”
“At least I’m trying to do something right. What about you, hun? You’re going to abort the first baby you’re ever going to have. Why would you even do that? You don’t have anyone in your life, and the only one that is supposed to love you regardless of your evil attitude, you still want to kill it.”
“Don’t you dare talk to me like that, Alec! Don’t you ever!” She smacked back almost immediately
“You’re so loud about this because you know I’m telling the truth. Have you even thought about dropping these childish attitudes and settling down with a man that truly loves you? Haven’t you ever dreamed of having a child?”
“Not all women are the same, Alec! I don’t care about love life, kids or family. I love how I am.” She answered, folding her arms on her chest.
“I’m not surprised.” He scoffed. “You’re the most messed up person I’ve ever met. Just leave Aurora alone. Don’t you ever try hurting her ever again, or you’ll have me as your enemy.”
“Really, you think you can…”
Before she could finish talking, Alec grabbed her by the arm and pulled her closer, with his eyes fixed on the road. Anita’s body went stiff in fear and she swallowed hard.
“I believe you don’t want me to be your enemy. You understand what I’m capable of doing more than anyone. So… forget about Aurora and her kids. I don’t care what you do with Arthur. Just don’t touch her and the kids.”
“I can’t touch her, okay? Let me go! She’s gone, isn’t she? There’s no need to go after her again! I’m done to her!” Anita answered, snatching her hand from him.
“Good. Then we’re cool.” The stern look on Alec’s face instantly disappeared and he let out a fake grin.
“Take me to Arthur’s house. Let’s finalize this deal so I can get rid of this thing once and for all.” She uttered, looking at the small bulge in her stomach.
