Chapter 79 Hear me out

Chapter 79 Hear me out
Getting to Aurora’s workplace, Alec did the same thing. He opened the door for her and she stepped out.

She walked into the restaurant, and he followed behind her. Getting into the waiting area, to her greatest surprise, she met Arthur seated.

“Arthur.” She called in surprise as she approached him.

Arthur, who had already seen them since Alec opened the door for her, couldn’t help but stare coldly at Alec.

His eyes were fixed on him so much that Aurora noticed this. She hastily moved in front of him, blocking his view.

“He’s just a customer. Stop staring at him like you’re going to kill him, okay?” She asked, and he let out a deep breath.

“He looks like someone I have seen before. But I can’t recall where.” Arthur uttered.

“Are you sure?? Maybe you saw him in the restaurant the few times you’ve visited.” She answered, settling on a chair next to him.

“No, I don’t think it’s at the restaurant.” He answered, taking another glance at Alec, who was already heading out of the restaurant.

“He’s leaving already?” Aurora wondered as she watched him leave.

‘He looks so much like the man that came to my office, but then he doesn’t have tattoos or that scary look he had on.’ Arthur further thought as he watched him walk to his car.

“I should go and…” Aurora stood up but Arthur stopped her.

“You should let him go. Maybe something came up. I’m starving.” He uttered, and his stomach grumbled.

Aurora chuckled and nodded. “Okay. But I don’t understand. You came all the way here to eat breakfast?” She asked in confusion, and he shook his head.

“Not only that. I woke up missing you badly. I had to come here to see your pretty face.” He uttered, caressing her cheek with his finger.

Aurora let out a faint smile and nodded. “Well, I missed you too, and I’m so glad you’re here. Now, tell me what you’d love to eat.”

“You.” He answered almost immediately, causing Aurora’s eyes to widen. She hit him playfully on his arm and chuckled.

“Stop. We are in public. I have to sign in now, okay?” She said to him, and he nodded.

She stood up and walked to the counter, while Arthur couldn’t stop staring at her. He felt like the luckiest man in the world.

While she was out of sight, Arthur let out a sigh and reached for his phone. He kept himself busy by scrolling through his social media, when all of a sudden, the sound of a car parking next to the restaurant pulled his attention.

He looked up and saw the wine car. Just when he was about to look away, he saw Rachel step out of the car. He raised his eyebrow in surprise as he watched her walk into the restaurant.

‘What the hell is she doing here?’ He wondered as he stared at her.

She made her way straight to the counter. “Hi, good morning. Has Aurora resumed work?” She asked, rubbing her palms together nervously.

Arthur, with his eyes furrowed, stood up and approached the counter too.

“Rachel?” He called, and she turned to look at him. Upon seeing him, her eyes widened in shock.

“Mr. Arthur?” She called, and he nodded.

“What are you doing here?” He asked.

“Are you still in touch with Aurora? What are you doing here?” She asked, fear overwhelmed her as she spoke.

Arthur looked at the waitresses at the counter and smiled faintly at them. “Please excuse us.” He uttered before looking at Rachel again.

“Let’s talk outside before she sees you.” Arthur added, making his way out of the restaurant. Rachel looked over the counter one more time before following behind Arthur.

Getting outside, Arthur pulled her away from the restaurant walls. “How did you know she works here?” He asked, and she gulped.

“I ran into her yesterday morning. I tried talking to her but she wouldn’t listen to me. I came back today, hoping to talk to her again.” Rachel explained, and Arthur sighed.

“If she didn’t want to talk to you, shouldn’t you just stay away?”

“I can’t do that. I couldn’t sleep all through the night because of her. I hurt her, and I have to make up for that.”

“Why did you just disappear? You left her alone!”

“Because I was scared and stupid! After I revealed her whereabouts to you, I didn’t know…”

“Hold on! You what?” He asked, and she clenched her jaws.

“I was the anonymous person that sent you the address of where she was after collecting some money from you.”

Arthur’s eyes widened and he shook his head in disbelief. “What if I was evil and did something horrible to her?”

“I know, okay?! You don’t have to remind me that I’m a bad mother. I know this already. I just need to apologize to her.”

“Apologizing won’t change anything. Why would you want to ruin her day?” Arthur asked in frustration.

Just then, Aurora stepped out of Jack’s office and walked to the waiting area. She furrowed her brows as she saw that Arthur was nowhere to be found.

“Where is he?” She asked, looking at those at the counter.

“He just stepped out with a woman. The woman that was here yesterday morning.” They answered.

Aurora creased her brows as she tried to recollect who it was. She stepped away from the counter and headed to the  restaurant’s door.

“Arthur?” Aurora called, looking left and right.

Arthur heard her call him and he walked back to the door. Rachel, who was still as desperate as ever followed behind him.

“Aurora.” She called, and when she saw her, Aurora clenched her jaws. She looked at Arthur, who was also quiet. He wasn’t sure what to say or do at that moment.

“Aurora baby, please can we talk?” She asked, and Aurora heaved a sigh.

“I am at work. It’s 9 am in the morning. Do you think I’d be able to have a pathetic chat with you?” Aurora asked angrily, and Rachel nodded in understanding.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t think about that. What about your lunch break? Can we talk then?” She further inquired, but Aurora ignored her and turned to look at Arthur.

“I have prepared something for you. Let’s go in.” She uttered, holding Arthur’s hand as she pulled him in.

In surprise, Rachel watched them leave. Lots of things seemed confusing, but the relationship between her daughter and Arthur was the most confusing.

‘The last time I checked, they hated each other and she even stole his kids. How did they become so close? Was it what I did that brought them back together?’ She wondered, entering the restaurant again.

She sat at the right corner and waited for Aurora to finish at work. ‘She is the only one that matters now.’ She said to herself, staring at her and Arthur as they conversed.

“What are you going to do about her?” Arthur asked.

“Nothing. I’ll just ignore her. I’m not ready to have any chat with her today. I won’t let her ruin my day.” Aurora answered with her teeth tightened.

“Just take it easy, okay? Anytime you’re free, please listen to her. You don’t have to forgive her, but just hear what she has to say.”

“Arthur, I…”

“Remember that if she didn’t tell me where you were back then, we wouldn’t be together today. I wouldn’t have proposed to you. Though it was heartless of her, she kind of helped us be together.”

After Arthur finished talking, he turned to look at Rachel, who was staring at the both of them.

“Hear her out, okay?” He added, and Aurora lowered her head and nodded slowly.

‘Just because you asked, Arthur.’
