Chapter 100:
Chapter 102:
Ambrosia POV:
We were all heading to Pythias coven house since we decided it was best she not travel too far right now. A meeting has been called and I think it was time we acted instead of planning. Especially since we all watched the memories of Tyler unfold and we know who is in charge of the wolves. “Nothing good can come of this.” Jackson muttered. “Nothing good has happened so far, but we can only train our people so much.” I replied. “I know, I wonder how we are going to do all of this. We can’t leave Pythia to deal with her mother and the beast. Seems like he wants revenge.” Jackson sighed. We all wanted some form of revenge but that didn’t seem like the case in this situation. “Are you sure? I mean he chose to run in the middle of a battle so that tells me he knew it was a losing match. My guess is, he thinks he has something that he needs to prove.” I answered.
He knew he wouldn’t win in that battle but seems to think he can in this one. Maybe because he has Pythias mom backing him he thinks he has a chance to actually win. As we walked in everything seemed perfectly normal, you wouldn’t even know that we are on the brink of war. “You think too hard.” Xander laughed. I elbowed him in his side, “And you don’t? Don’t think I don’t know what you want to do to all of them.” I laughed. “Yes, but I hide my expressions better than you do sister. Something you need to work on.” Xander snorted. I rolled my eyes, it is true that I have slacked off of hiding my emotions since I had my children. I went from being stone cold to soft hearted, but no one could say that when we were going against someone.
I had so much to lose and everything to gain. People want victories for titles sake. Bragging rights. All we want is safety for our families, peace in our lands for everyone and there was no better victory than that. “We need to take out Hervoux.” Baine said pulling me from my thoughts. “Yes, we do. We will start planning on how to do that soon. They seem to all stick together so it won’t be hard to find them.” I answered. “We also need to get him away from the others. I’m afraid that in this battle each will have to take on our own race.” Baine muttered. I could hear the disdain in his voice. “Not true, we split everyone evenly. That way we will be prepared if they do the same. Pythia, Alley and myself will take the leaders on.” I said. “How can Pythia take on two leaders? She has her mother and the beast.” Hotch questioned. “She won’t be taking them both on. Stephen and Alley will take the beast, Ambrosia will take Hervoux with us at her side and, Pythia will take on her mother with Tye, Leia and Brandon by her side.” Jackson answered in a matter of fact tone.
As we walked in everything seemed perfectly normal. You’d never guess that tensions are high. I had forgotten how large the meeting room was until now. Everyone was here, Jasper and Jenson, Alex, Leia and Brandon. Pythia was sitting at the head of the table with Tye. Alley and Stephen along with his family were also in attendance as well as my aunt and uncle, Pythias father and uncle. Pythia looked exhausted, paler than she normally is. There is no doubt that this has taken a huge toll on her. “We are here to talk about strategies. If we can take them out little by little, or even the entire group. Either way we need to get the boy.” Tye spoke, loud and clear. I could hear the frustration in his voice. His thoughts were clear. Vengeance. He wanted Pythias mothers head on a spike and I couldn’t fault him for it.
I already had a small plan of my own. “I’m going to make a challenge.” I announced. All eyes landed on me, “What are you talking about?” Adam asked. “A challenge, obviously. Different countries or not a challenge is something we vampires hold close to. Especially if he is to call himself a king. Should he deny then his people will see him as a weakling. Afraid to take on a woman.” I answered. “How do you know this for certain?” Phil asked. “It didn’t take much. Our last encounter sent the minds of his followers into a frenzy. He couldn’t properly stand against me and that had them questioning him.” I answered. It didn’t take much for me to figure it out. They will still fight for him but if he were to be defeated they would be lost. “How would you make this challenge without a fight?” Tye asked. I turned and smiled at Lillith. “I would send a message, one that she would write and I would send directly to him through her eyes.” Lilith answered.
I had already started planning and through her magic and many test runs we finally got it right. “How soon?” Adam asked. “Next week. I figured he would push it up more to try to catch me off guard. There is a stadium that was long abandoned by my ancestors. That will be the location. In the middle of nowhere, far away from each of the lands as well as humans.” I replied. “You’ve really thought this through. How long?” Pythia questioned and I smiled. “Hell hath no further like a mother scorned.” I whispered. “Send it.” Alley said. “Rattle him now and watch him over the next few days. If he goes to my mother she will aid him.” Pythia added. Lilith walked over with a pen and a piece of paper for me to write on.
I had thought about what I would write to make him mad but truthfully the letter would be enough. As I started writing a smile came to my face, I cut my palm and dipped the pen into it signing my name. I wanted to see his reaction to it, especially given that it was now a blood deal. When I was done I folded it and handed it over. I felt Lilliths hand rest on my shoulder as I readied myself. In less than a second I was inside Hervoux's head. He was sitting behind a desk in a room alone. His hands folded on the desk which made me think that he was perhaps waiting on someone. Just as the thought crossed my mind, the doors opened to reveal Pythias mother and a large man behind her. He wasn’t just your normal big guy. He stood well near seven foot, shoulders wider than Jackson and Tye combined. He was massive. “Ah, Hervoux. I’d like you to meet someone.” Pythias mother said with a sickening smile. “The wolves finally decide that they want to actually do something?” Hervoux sneered. “We wouldn’t have to if you could manage to get Ambrosia and her vampires under control.” The man replied in a deep tone.
So he knows my name, that will make this all the better. “If I had all of the information it would be handled by- AHH!” Hervouxs scream stopped his sentence. He looked down at the folded piece of paper. “What the hell?” He muttered. “What is that?” Pythias mother questioned. “Well Pamela, if I knew I wouldn’t be asking now would I?” Hervoux snapped. We all watched as he opened it and read my letter out loud.
“Dear Pheasant,
I know you must be joyed to hear from me, and as much as I would like to do this face to face we both know you are too cowardly for that so consider this my official message. I, Ambrosia, Queen of the vampires hereby challenge you, Hervoux to the death. Winner takes the crown.
— Ambrosia”
I smiled as the words poured out. “She can’t make a challenge!” Hervoux roared. “Actually, she can you idiot. I told you not to taunt her. You didn’t listen. She signed that with her blood which makes it a blood deal. You can not deny her or I will have to kill you myself and send her your head.” Pamela snapped. Her eyes were blazing with anger. We watched as Pamela handed him a piece of paper. “Tell her you accept. In two weeks time.” Pamela added. “Two weeks? You can’t be serious.” Hervoux stated. “I am, all I need is two weeks, and while you are in the middle of the challenge I will be planning our official attack.” Pamela stated before she took a closer look at his eyes.
She tilted her head and I held my breath, hoping she wouldn’t realize I was in there. “Hurry up so I can send this back.” Pamela snapped. He huffed as he wrote his acceptance and requested a location, he crumbled it up and handed it to Pamela. I held my hand out fully waiting for it and when it came through I snapped out of his head. “Well, now we know what they are planning. Now we need to do the same. We have 2 weeks to make this happen.” Alley announced. “Everyone needs to be moved from here, they can’t come here and find them all.” Stephen added. “I’ll talk to Lucinda, maybe we can hide everyone who won’t fight with them. This is going to be the biggest fight yet and we can’t lose too many.” Brandon said. In every fight, we knew people would die. It wasn’t something we were fond of but nothing we could really do about it. I now had to get myself ready for yet another challenge and prepare for the attack on top of that.
I looked around and before I could say anything the air shifted and we all knew who was coming. “I see you’ve made a challenge my queen, smart of you but also something I have to give my blessing on to you both. Shall we?” Athea asked, holding her hand out. Well, I suppose it is now or never..
