Chapter 73
Chapter 73
Florence pov
In all my life, I'd never seen Dominique this angry. I knew sometimes whenever he got riled up, he had a pretty bad temper, but I never knew it could be this bad. As his nostrils flared and he turned red from anger, I realized this was a discovery, one I wished I hadn't just stumbled upon right now.
If I could, I would take everything back and go back in time to avoid all of this. But now, the deed has already been done. Not only had I stolen from him and betrayed him, he'd also found out and I was In deep trouble.
Shit.
I pressed my eyes shut as hod words swirled around in my head.
“You're a gold digger and I curse the day I laid my eyes on you!”
If only that was true. None of this was my intention. I never meant for any of this to happen. I had only done what I thought was best. I knew I was in the wrong, but if he could just try to listen to me and see things from my perspective….
“Dominique..” I whispered. I was breathless and I feared that the mere mention of his name would make him all the more mad. “Please…”
“Shut up!” He spat and I flinched. Pure rage and anger was all I could tell from his voice and I gulped out loud. “Not another word from you!”
“Dominique, please.” I pleased again. I took a step closer to him, just to explain, but in return, he took three more steps back and I felt my heart break a little more. “Please just try to listen. I can explain and…”
“Explain what?” He countered me. “Explain why the hell you stole from me!? Alright then, go on, id love to hear your brilliant explanation.”
He was being sarcastic, and I wouldn't say his harsh words weren't hitting the right places.
“Wow me with your explanation!” He clapped once, before continuing. “ So I can see if it's fit for a liar like you!”
“I, I , I didn't do it for me.” I stuttered. my lips quivered as my fingers trembled. From afar, you would think I was a little child suffering from a bad cold or the flu. “You have to believe me. I only did it because…”
“Silence!” Dominique's tone was getting louder and I didn't like it. One bit. “ You want to explain to me why you stole? You want to give me a valid reason as to why you stole from me? Are you even listening to yourself? Does that so much as make an iota of sense to you?”
“If I explain, maybe you'd finally understand.” I cried. I blinked, as tears stung the back of my eyes, threatening to spill down my cheeks, but I refused. “You'll see that it wasn't my intention..”
“Intention?” Dominique chorused, cutting me off immediately. “We're talking about intentions now? I had no idea.”
“So tell me then, what was your intention before stealing from me?” He let out a hollow laugh before continuing. “I'm listening.”
“I was going to tell you all about it.” I continued, with tears in my eyes. I know how dumb and stupid it sounded, but I wasn't going to give up without trying to explain things to him. “I really wanted to let you know that I didn't mean it and my hands were tied.”
“No.”Dominique shook his head. “I'll tell you what your intention was. You came to me last night to sleep with me, just so you could have easy access to my room and my money. That was your only intention.”
“Dominique, please.” I'd never seen him this furious before. Even when he used to maltreat me, he had never shown me this side of his anger before. At this moment, it looked like I had unlocked a new level to how mad he could actually get, and trust me, if he went on like this, I wasn't sure I would be able to take it. “ Please listen to me. Just hear me out.”
“I'm done listening to your lies.” Dominique clicked his tongue. “Every single one of them.”
“You disgust me.” Hr continued with venom in his voice, while I stood there, my heart breaking with each and every hurtful word he hurled at men “ You disgust me so much that I don't ever want to see you again. You're a whore and a gold digger who deserves nothing. You're a mere piece of trash and I blame myself for ever making you look special to me. You don't deserve any good thing in life. You deserve nothing but poverty because you can't seem to look past your greed. You just want to acquire more wealth and you don't care if it costs you relationships or valuable connections. You just want money!”
“Please don't say that.” I fell to my knees immediately. An intense jolt of pain shot up my thighs as my knees kissed the tilted ground but I didn't care. Right now, all that mattered to me was getting Dominique to listen and forgive me. “ Just hear me out and I swear you'll see that none of it is entirely my fault.”
“I know.” Dominique nodded silently. From the way his eyes narrowed into slits and how his head bobbed up and down, I could tell something bad was going to happen soon. “I know and I understand you. This is also my fault too. I blame myself for thinking that you were different. For thinking that you were somehow different from your father and the other gold diggeres out there. But I was wrong, very wrong. How long has you waited to strike like this? Come on, tell me.”
“Please don't say that.” I pleased out loud. Each and every one of Dominique's words were cutting right through my heart. If he kept up with it, I wouldn't be surprised if I passed out right here and now. “ You're hurting me with….”
“I want you to leave.” Dominique's voice broke through my pleas. “ I want you to leave my house right this moment.”
“What?’ I stood rooted to my spot. I had no idea which was more shocking; the way I'd quickly jumped on my feet, or the words that had just slid past Dominique's mouth. “What? I don't understand.”
“You heard me.” His face was stoic and his voice steely. “And I brought that I didn't mince words. Get the hell out of my house now.”
“But….” I stuttered.
“And don't ever return.” Just when I thought it couldn't get more worse, he just had to add that clause. “I don't ever want to see you in my house again or anywhere near my compound.”
“But.” No matter how hard I tried to make sense of it all, it just didn't sound right. “But, what about my father's debt? We still have to pay up…”
“Get the fuck out of my sight!” He roared and I skidded a few steps backwards. “Get out!”
Without so much as another word, I headed out of the mansion. There was no way I could convince him now. It was obvious he was beyond furious.
A sigh slid past my lips as I sniffed. My eyes hurt and my cheeks were covered in tears stains. Ss I figured out the next step, something caught my attention in my head. I let out a small groan as the world around me began to twirl. I felt uncomfortable and I reached out for the nearest thing I could grab. Unfortunately for me, there was nothing, so before I could make head of what had just happened, I fell to the ground, before embracing the cold arms of darkness.
