“Why do you sound so angry today? Who got on your nerves?” Frank asked and gently pushed himself from the wall, he carefully rubbed his fingers on the edge of the knife and pierced his flesh. Blood dropped out of the wound, and he happily licked it, his eyes turning pitch black.
“Every time I see Ken, I feel like a decade has left my lifetime. I have the urge to bring out a knife and stab him in his chest!” I replied bitterly and hissed.
“Stab him, that sounds good to my ears,” Frank whispered, and moved towards the door, hoping to leave.
I stood up, wore my shoes, and followed him out of the slave's quarters. As we left, a few people greeted me, but they weren't able to see Frank, he'd made himself invisible to wolves.
“There's a lot of things I don't understand, Frank. A lot of things,” I informed him, but Frank didn't look surprised.
“It's normal to not understand some things. There are things we all don't know, and sometimes it's better that way,” he replied.
“So are you saying I shouldn't worry about why Kelvin changed his name, family, and pack?” I asked Frank with arched brows.
“Yes, think of all this as a horrible nightmare, and I am here to save you,” He replied sarcastically, and I scoffed at his words.
“I thought we don't save each other, it's against our rules,” I teased him.
Frank shook his head at me, and we both entered the garden. “I made the rules because rules are made to be broken, now stop saying rubbish and tell me what's bothering you.”
I sighed and told him what happened between Lady Priya and me, and how she wanted me to seduce Ken. I trusted no one, but I had a little faith in Frank, he was the only one who offered me a helping hand when I was rejected.
Frank listened to my explanation, his eyes gleaming with intrigue, and he seemed to understand my fear.
“You are scared of falling in love with Ken?” He asked with furrowed brows.
I spit on the floor, his words irked me. “Oh Frank, you know that's not true. I don't have a heart so I’m not scared to fall in love, but the thing is, I can't afford to get close to him. He is so irritating, self-centered, cruel, and stubborn!”
“Cruel? Stubborn?” Frank mumbled thoughtfully, “I think I know someone who possessed twice his traits.” He gave me a cunning smirk.
“This is a serious matter! You taught me to eat up my kindness, wouldn't helping Priya make me weak and kind?” I asked Frank with arched brows.
“Sicilia, nothing is more painful than getting stabbed in the back by someone you trust. If you truly want Ken to pay for his crimes then let him feel real pain!” Frank admonished me.
“So you're saying that I should accept Priya's proposal?" I asked curiously.
Frank's expression turned serious. "Consider your goals, Sicilia. Revenge or cowardice?"
"I want revenge," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Then play Priya's game," Frank advised. "Gain Ken's trust and your revenge will be sweeter."
I nodded, resolving hardening within me.
"But beware, Sicilia," Frank cautioned. "Priya may not be what she seems. And Ken... his darkness runs deep, be mindful of how you interact with everyone. My father might send someone to look after you, so you need to be on your best behavior every day."
"I'll be cautious," I promised.
“Also, it's unwise to tell Williams a lot of things. Don't trust someone close to the devil,” saying that Frank vanished as suddenly as he appeared, leaving me to ponder my next move.
The darkness outside seemed to press in, echoing the turmoil within. I made my decision. Tomorrow, I will accept Priya's proposal, and begin my game of fake love.
"But can I fake love? I doubt I'm capable of playing the role of a lovesick girl; it's just not me.” I murmured.

THE NEXT MORNING.

“Wake up, you sluggish tortoise!” A loud shrilling voice thundered in the room.
I slowly awoke, my body was tired and my eyes were heavy with sleep. As my eyelids reluctantly parted, the harsh morning light passed through the curtains, piercing my sensitive eyes like a thousand sharp knives. I couldn't remember the last time I had slept for this long, back in Hell, I had to wake up early to fulfill my daily duties.
“Sicilia, get up! She will pour hot water on your face if you don't!” Tessa urged me, and at the mention of hot water, the sleep in my eyes disappeared and I jumped up. {Hot water what was Kelvin's sisters used to torture me}
All eyes of the slaves were on me, and most of them were giggling. Delilah stood in front of my bed, a bucket of water in her hands, and her eyes were blazing with fury. Tessa seemed to be calming her down.
“You lazy slave! Who do you think you are? And why the hell are you still sleeping when everyone has woken up?” Delilah growled at me the minute I opened my eyes.
I furrowed my brows as I looked at the bucket in her hands. ‘So this woman would have poured water on me? What sort of madness is this? Is she ready to die?’ I growled in my mind, giving her an intimidating gaze.
Delilah looked frightened by my gaze, but because of a stupid point she wanted to prove to the onlookers, she emptied the bucket of cold water on me.
“Argh!” Everyone gasped in surprise, their hands covering their mouths.
“That's what you get for disrespecting your superior,” Delilah said to me with a menacing smile.
I know I had sworn to keep a low profile, but I just couldn't let her get away with something like that. Back at Kelvin's pack, I realized that the only reason why one gets bullied is because of how they reacted to the bullies the first time. I didn't want them to think of me as a simp, so I stood up, pulled Delilah by her hair, and pushed her face into the soaked bed, making sure that she was unable to breathe.
“Sicilia!” The other servants, including Tessa, tried to hold me back, but I didn't stop until Delilah apologized to me. She wasn't remorseful, but because of her strong will to survive, she swallowed her shame.
