The Alpha

The Alpha

“Are you someone powerful?” I tried pressuring him into answering me.

“I already told you I am Ken's close friend, doesn't that make me powerful?” Gamma Enoch asked rhetorically.

“Anyone can claim to be the Alpha's friend, even his wife,” I replied with a grimace.

George smiled and folded his arms, a cold demeanor settling on his face, “Ken doesn't have a wife.” He deadpanned.

“Well, to be fair I can't blame him for not having a wife. He looks so scary and acts like he owns the world, his behavior is definitely what made him single,” I replied with a scowl on my face. It didn't take long before I realized what I'd said, in front of the Alpha's Gamma and I closed my mouth.

Surprisingly, Enoch was not offended by my words, and he smiled broadly. “He does act like he owns the world, but you can't blame him, he indeed owns half of the world. He is the only king in the North after all.”

I hummed and flashed Enoch the most sincere smile I could think of. ‘The North' I whispered. I still wasn't able to figure out why Ken moved his pack and changed his name.

“Anyway, I am the Alpha's Gamma and a very close friend of his. And as his Gamma, I must protect and guard the pack from intruders. In conclusion, I am the warrior's leader.” He explained and laughed, thinking his explanation was too complex.

"Ohh, that's a very noble job,” I praised him. I couldn't remember the last time I praised someone, and I'd vowed never to, but since I was on earth, I knew it was only right if I acted like a mannered wolf, that was the only way I would fit in.

Enoch's eyes sparkled with amusement, clearly pleased with my praise. "Thank you, Sicilia. It's a responsibility I take seriously." He leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "But between you and me, being the Alpha's Gamma has its perks. I get to know all the juicy secrets." He winked his eyes.

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Juicy secrets, huh? Sounds like you're the pack's keeper of secrets." My curiosity was piqued, and I wondered what secrets Enoch might be hiding. Back at Kevin's pack, the Gamma were made to swear an oath of secrecy, meaning they weren't allowed to tell anyone what they saw and heard.

‘He looks like a chatterbox, my mission will be carried out on time if he starts spilling the details. Death to Ken!’ I thought.

It was like Enoch could hear my thoughts because he flashed me an intimidating smile. “I better leave now, but don't worry you will be alright," he assured me and pointed at another stairs. “Follow that path, when you reach the end, you'll see the maid's quarter, it’s so big that you won't miss it,” he informed me, and without waiting for my response, he left.

I looked at his retreating figure, and a cunning smirk settled on his lips. The smirk soon turned to a smile, and I held my chin thoughtfully. “He looks suspicious, I will keep an eye on him,” I reasoned, and gracefully played with my sharp nails. "And I will keep the other eye on Ken,” I muttered and for a brief moment, anger flashed across my eyes.
All this while I was in Hell, suffering and trying to please the man who resurrected me, but my murder was busy piling up mistresses!

“What a shameful Alpha, I feel the pain of his pack members.”

Then my thoughts went back to the expression on Alpha Ken's face when he saw me, he looked shocked. ‘Did he remember my face?’ I asked rhetorically, doubting Dracula's words.

I shook my head, focusing on my mission. Ken was my target, and Enoch was just a means to an end. I followed the path he indicated, my eyes scanning the opulent decor.

The maid's quarter was indeed impressive, with lavish rooms and energetic servants. I blended in, observing the interaction between the staff. They all seemed to get along pretty well.

"New face, huh?" a friendly maid approached me. "Welcome to the pack. I'm Tessa."

I looked at her attire, and the smile on her face, trying to detect if she had an evil intention, but sensing none, I smiled back at her, adopting a harmless demeanor. "Thanks. I'm Sicilia."

“It's nice meeting you, let's show you around," Tessa volunteered, and before l could reject her offer, she held my hands, and we took a quick walk.

Tessa chatted enthusiastically, sharing gossip and introducing me to the other maids. I listened attentively, trying to find information that could lead to Ken's downfall.

Her behavior reminded me of Clara, and I couldn't help but wonder where Clara was, that poor lady didn't serve to be tortured because of me. I looked around, trying to figure out where she was.

Tessa must have noticed that l was searching for someone because she furrowed her brows in surprise. “Are you looking for someone or something?" She asked me, her eyes curiously looking around.

"No, just admiring the decorations," I replied quickly, hiding my true intentions. Tessa's eyes sparkled with understanding, and she leaned in.

"I know what you mean. This place can be overwhelming. But don't worry, you'll get used to it, I will assist you to settle in." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Just be careful around the Alpha and his mistresses. They're not too friendly."

I nodded, filing away the warning. "Thanks for the advice, Tessa. I'll keep that in mind." "By the way, is the Alpha a busy man? He looks like he doesn't have time for fun,” I said slyly, my voice slithering like a snake.

“Oh yes, he can be very busy at times," Tessa replied politely.

As we continued the tour, I probed Tessa with questions, gathering information about Ken's schedule, his habits, and potential weaknesses. When she demanded to know the reason for my interest in the Alpha, I lied that I wanted to be on his good list.

Tessa's innocence and kindness made me hesitant to manipulate her, she reminded me of my former self, but my mission took priority. I pushed aside the pang of guilt, focusing on the task at hand.

We entered the grand dining hall, Arianna, Brenda, and another lady were seated at the table. While Ari and Bren were trying so hard to fit in, the lady was happily interacting with the cooks.

"Ah, the queen bees," Tessa whispered, her eyes rolling. "Try to avoid them, Sicilia. They're poisonous, Lady Priya is the only one with a pure heart."

I smiled sweetly, my mind racing with scenarios. "Don't worry, Tessa. I can handle myself. But who is this Lady Priya? Is she also a mistress?"

“Mistress???” Tessa smiled at my questions. "No, she is not. She is Alpha Ken's favorite sister. We the maid call her our savior because she has saved us a lot of time from being sold.”

Just then, the doors swung open, and Ken strode in, his presence commanding attention. Our eyes met, and for an instant, I saw a flicker of curiosity.
