199-She Belongs To Me Only
Kedron:
I kept my steps light as I followed Michaelson across the island.
I should have known from the start that this man was involved, yet I never considered it.
He had been too cunning. I thought he only admired her because he was not the only one who did.
Many people looked at Yuna and fell for her beauty, so the idea never struck me.
That was what bothered me the most. I had been surrounded by people who wanted Yuna and were willing to go as far as abducting her.
Another question pressed on me. How did Michaelson get to enter the mainland, and kidnap her under so many watchful eyes?
Was someone else involved? The thought stayed in my head.
Michaelson kept moving with steady, calm strides, careful not to be seen or heard.
I could already tell he was leading me to my destination.
There was still a small chance he had only snuck out because he was cheating on Blaire.
That possibility faded the farther he walked.
Michaelson reached the shore and climbed into a small wooden boat.
I waited until he rowed away before I stepped into another one tied beside it.
At that point, I grew certain it was not an affair. He would not need to leave the island to cheat on Blaire.
I pushed off from the shore and kept a quiet rhythm as I followed him across the water.
The farther he went, the stronger the feeling inside me became. It confirmed what I already feared.
Michaelson reached a narrow island lined with jagged rocks.
The scent of Yuna struck me clearly, and there was no denial left. Michaelson had her.
He anchored his boat and strode onto the sand.
I reached the same spot a short while later and hid behind tall grass as he headed toward a cliff.
He seemed to be in a good mood, which was why he did not notice the small sounds behind him. Or maybe I stayed silent enough.
The full moon rose into the sky, making my heart pound harder as I remembered the witch’s words.
A cave entrance opened near the bottom of the rock wall.
I stopped behind a large stone when Michaelson walked inside. His voice echoed from within.
“Finally the full moon is here,” he remarked and released a chuckle.
My fists tightened. The urge to step in and grab him rushed through me.
“Now we can be together,” he continued, his voice softening.
The hairs on the back of my neck stood. Then I heard a weak, familiar sound.
“My mate will find me and then he will punish you in the worst way,” Yuna replied.
Her voice broke something inside me. It was hers. She had been waiting for me all this time.
I prepared myself for whatever state I would find her in. She could be hurt, but I would take care of her no matter what.
“You are right,” I growled loudly as I stepped out. “Her mate has found her.”
Michaelson turned at once. Shock crossed his face before anger replaced it.
Yuna lifted her head, and her eyes met mine. The tiredness in them shifted into a faint spark.
She sat against a wall with chains around her wrists and ankles. Her skin looked pale, her cheeks hollow.
She had lost too much weight in a short time.
Michaelson blocked my view by stepping in front of her.
“You should not be here,” he warned. “Yuna belongs to me. Her blood is pure. Everything about her belongs to me,” he hissed, his fists tightening.
His tone no longer held his usual controlled manner. Urgency and something darker filled it.
“Kedron!” Yuna uttered my name with her dry lips, and my heart clenched in my chest.
“What have you been doing to her?” I hissed as I noticed the marks on her neck. My body heated up at once. My wolf was filled with anger and pain.
“I told you, she has pure blood. I fed on her, and nothing has ever made me feel so complete,” Michaelson responded shamelessly.
My gaze dropped to the bruising again. It made my pulse rise, and anger spread through every vein.
“She is not yours,” I grunted. “Move,” I warned him, ready to launch my first attack.
Michaelson rushed toward me first. His speed blurred his outline, but I caught his arm and pushed him back.
He crashed into the wall and a crack spread across the stone.
He seemed to forget that even if he was a vampire with fast attacks, I carried the same strengths and more.
I was not only a werewolf but a vampire too, able to block his impulsive strikes.
He rushed forward again. He struck my jaw, but I barely stepped back.
I drove my shoulder into his chest, lifting him off the ground and sending him rolling across the floor.
He tried to recover and leaped again, but I caught him by the collar and threw him against a rock pillar.
He hit hard and slid down with disbelief in his eyes.
“You should not be this strong,” he muttered, blinking rapidly as shock filled him.
What did he think, that being an old vampire meant he held more power than a hybrid like me?
“You should have never taken her loved one lightly,” I declared as I stepped toward him.
He attempted another attack, but I caught him mid-movement and forced him to the ground again.
I pressed my hand to his chest to keep him down.
“You chained her,” I muttered. “You starved her. You fed on her.” My voice came out harsh as I named every crime he had committed against the woman I loved.
He struggled beneath my grip but could not break free.
“She is mine,” he insisted, his tone unsteady.
“No,” I hissed. “She never was.”
I struck him in the face. His head hit the stone behind him and his strength began to fade.
He tried to rise, but he dropped back down, unable to continue.
