191-I Expose My Brother’s Secret
Kedron:
We sat in the living room, waiting for Denzel to arrive and speak with Lord Hues and Sharlin.
Sharlin hadn’t looked up once since she arrived. I was sure she knew what had been said about her.
To be honest, I never got bad vibes from her. We hadn’t interacted much, and I never saw her being disrespectful toward Yuna.
So, I didn’t have a problem with her.
Still, there was a fire growing inside me. She had been praised and used to make Yuna look bad, and that bothered me.
I also had to watch the others feel insulted and embarrassed after trying to humiliate Yuna.
Finally, Lady Andrea and Denzel walked back in. Denzel had probably taken a shower to calm his nerves.
When he arrived at the castle earlier, he’d been hyped up and restless.
As soon as he entered the room, he ignored his wife and sat beside me on the couch.
I was sitting comfortably, one leg up, the other stretched out, arms spread.
I wondered what kind of man my brother really was.
First, he broke Yuna’s heart and trust. Then, he claimed he liked Sharlin and that he was in love with her.
Yet here she was, devastated because of him. He’d decided to bring everyone together just to insult her.
That rubbed me the wrong way. Why would you love someone and then let them be humiliated in front of everyone?
“Lord Whitlock, you and I have been friends for a very long time. You know me, and you know my daughter. I’ve been her mother and father ever since she lost her mother. Not once did I teach her to be a liar or a cheater,” Lord Hues said, his tone desperate as he tried to defend his daughter’s place as Denzel’s Luna.
He and his family had given up their whole pack for this union.
Now, if Denzel divorced and rejected Sharlin, they would be left with nothing. Denzel would still walk away with the crown.
Even if his pack disliked him for a while, I doubted it would last. Eventually, they would accept him.
“Now your son is accusing my daughter of infidelity,” Lord Hues continued, his voice cracking, eyes wet with tears.
I glanced at Sharlin and noticed how she avoided everyone’s eyes. I began to wonder, had she really cheated on Denzel?
Or was there something in her past that made her afraid to let him get close enough to discover the truth?
“It’s true that I saw Sharlin grow up in front of me,” Father said, “but it’s also true that Denzel is my son, and I believe every word he says, especially when he says your daughter lied to him about her virginity and is still lying when she claims he was the one who took it. What is she trying to accomplish by making it seem like an alpha is lying? It’s simple. She needs to tell him whether she lost her virginity before marriage or after.”
Father retorted, taking Denzel’s side. No matter how much parents love their children’s spouses, when the time comes, they will always stand by their own.
And I suppose that makes sense, if the other person really did something wrong, anyone would expect their parents to defend them.
However, the problem was that Denzel wasn’t innocent either.
It’s not like he was completely honest when he entered this marriage.
Now all eyes were on Sharlin, and she began rubbing her hands together anxiously.
“I lost my virginity before the marriage,” she said hesitantly, shoulders drawn in and head lowered. “I was so scared of upsetting Denzel that I made up excuses.”
If only they had spoken in private, neither of them would have had to face this kind of humiliation.
“Lies,” Denzel hissed.
Sharlin snapped her head up, tears forming in her eyes.
“I’m not lying, my king,” she said softly, sniffing. “I was just scared.”
“Well, it doesn’t matter anymore,” Denzel replied coldly. “The way you reacted and all the lies that came to light, it shows me you’re not fit to be my Luna. I can’t be with someone who lies so much, plots so much, that even I’m left speechless by her ability to deceive.”
He was certain he didn’t want her.
I could tell, because even after she admitted she had lied in the beginning, he still looked at her with disappointment.
“So, what do you want, son?” my father asked.
Being one of the biggest supporters of his sons, he leaned forward as if encouraging him.
“I want to leave her,” Denzel said flatly. “I want a divorce. I want to reject her. I’m regretting it.”
He fell silent, lowering his head.
At that moment, I wondered what he was regretting.
What would happen once he left Sharlin?
Would he turn back and want Yuna again?
No! That couldn’t be. He was afraid of her.
But the look in his eyes since he arrived, the way he kept glancing at me, it gave me a bad feeling.
So far, he didn’t know that Yuna was gone. But what if he found her and decided not to return her?
Or what if he already had?
From the timeline Sharlin gave, it seemed he’d left right after finding out about the virginity issue.
A few of his hours were unaccounted for, which made me wonder where he was when Yuna disappeared?
For the first time, I decided to step into their affairs. Even now, I was doing it for my Yuna.
“Well, I think my brother is being too emotional,” I said.
Heads turned toward me instantly. Sharlin and her father looked at me with hopeful eyes.
“It’s not like my brother was completely honest in this marriage,” I continued. “Remember, brother, you never told her about your fated mate, and that even after your marriage, you wanted your fated mate?”
The moment I said that, Denzel’s eyes widened, while Lady Andrea’s narrowed.
Even my father looked shocked that I was exposing my brother like this.
But it worked, Sharlin and her father both looked equally upset, finally seeing the truth.
