Chapter 134 Is He So Easy to Use?
Chapter 134 Is He So Easy to Use?
Olivia instinctively grabbed Charles's sleeve.
Charles frowned at her, not understanding why she wouldn't let him call the doctor when she was clearly unwell.
Suddenly, he noticed something in Olivia's eyes: "Do you need to use the bathroom?"
Olivia did need to use the bathroom.
After several bottles of IV fluids entered her body, with all that liquid going in, she... needed to pee.
But hearing these words come from Charles, a man, made her feel embarrassed and awkward.
Charles hadn't expected this to be the reason either. Thinking back to Olivia's expression just now, he couldn't help wanting to laugh.
Seeing Olivia's displeased look, he forced it down.
"Needing to pee is perfectly normal," Charles said, trying to convince both Olivia and himself.
He stood up, slipped one hand behind Olivia's back and the other under her knees, lifting her sideways onto the wheelchair. Then he freed up a hand to grab the IV bag and pushed her toward the bathroom.
In the bathroom, after hanging up the IV bag, he lifted her from the wheelchair and reached out to help her take off her pants.
"What do you think you're doing?!"
Olivia's face darkened, her voice turning stern.
"I... I'm helping you take off your pants."
At first, Charles hadn't been thinking of anything. He simply wanted to help her with her physical needs.
But once he said it out loud, his thoughts went off track.
In the past, every time he took off her pants, it was to have sex with her.
After her pants came off...
Charles instinctively closed his eyes, not wanting to think further, but as soon as he did, vivid images of their intimate moments flashed through his mind.
Every hair on her body, every tremor she had because of him, appeared clearly in his thoughts.
Including her scent...
Charles's body heated up uncontrollably, his dress pants tenting up.
Olivia noticed this, her expression growing even darker.
Charles was at a loss for words.
He didn't want this either, but... he couldn't control his body.
He turned around and gently pulled the door closed: "You go ahead by yourself. I'll be right outside the door. Call me if you need anything."
That night, Charles slept directly in the guest room where Olivia was now staying.
Not on the bed, but just lying down on the sofa.
After two nights on the sofa, on the third night, Olivia opened her eyes in the middle of the night to find Charles lying beside her, with one arm resting on her lower abdomen.
She hit him in annoyance, wanting to kick him out.
Without even opening his eyes, Charles caught her arm and held her tightly in his embrace: "Don't move. I'm not trying to take advantage of you. It's just that you keep kicking off the covers at night, and I'm worried you'll get a fever again, so I came over to watch over you."
Olivia was speechless.
From that day on, Charles stayed in Olivia's guest room.
The two still didn't talk much, but Olivia stopped trying to kick him out, silently allowing him to stay by her side.
They also ate meals together. Although they barely exchanged a few words a day, compared to sleeping in separate rooms before, this was already significant progress.
Charles was very satisfied with this progress.
Often, when he woke up in the morning, he felt terribly uncomfortable.
Especially since Olivia wasn't a still sleeper - many times, he could see half of her smooth shoulder exposed from her pajama collar.
Sometimes he could even see the deep valley at her neckline.
Because of that misunderstanding about her escape attempt, they hadn't been intimate for a long time.
As time passed, Charles's desire for her grew stronger and stronger.
But he was afraid of making her angry, so he kept his desires in check. When he really couldn't stand it anymore, he'd rather go take a cold shower in the bathroom or take care of it himself than ask Olivia to help him.
Every time this happened, Olivia would just glance at him sideways without saying anything.
Because of this, Charles was in a bad mood except when he was with Olivia. Everyone at the Green Group knew that Charles had something bothering him lately, and they needed to be extra careful around him.
But Cody didn't believe in playing it safe.
Charles didn't indulge him either. He found a mistake in Cody's work and sent him to guard the company entrance.
That evening, after work, just as Charles was about to go home to be with Olivia, Tatum called him back to the Green Villa.
The Green family's roots were in Silverlight City.
However, Tatum didn't like the environment in Silverlight City and usually preferred to live at the estate in another city.
Because Cody had been wronged, she had specially come to Silverlight City today.
Learning about this, Charles couldn't help but sneer inwardly.
If she loved Cody so much, why did she even call Charles back? If she were so confident, she should have handed over the entire family business to Cody four years ago.
Now that he had smoothed things over and gotten the Green Group back on track, she was ready to put Cody in the position of power at the Green Group, wasn't she?
She should at least check whether Cody actually had the ability.
Did she think he was so easy to use?
Did she think she could take back what she'd put in his hands whenever she wanted?
What a pipe dream!
Charles arrived at the Green Villa with a cold expression.
Seeing his face, Cody played with an antique ornament in his hand while teasing, "Charles, do you have this same expression when facing Ms. Smith?"
"No wonder Ms. Smith keeps playing the 'she runs, you chase' game with you. If I were Ms. Smith, I'd try every way possible to escape from you, too."
Charles gave him a cold glance, unbuttoned his suit jacket, and sat down in the seat below Tatum's:
"At least you don't have to play that kind of game. The game you want to play is much more dangerous than mine. A kid with the IQ of a three-year-old insisting on playing with fire, aren't you afraid the tiger will swallow you whole one day?"
"Grandma is still alive now and can try to protect you. But Grandma can't protect you forever. You..."
Charles shook his head and sighed twice: "There are only the two of us left in the Green family. You always like to play such dangerous games. If one day... you must not let Grandma bury her own grandson."
"Enough."
Tatum set her teacup on the table: "Do you two have to fight like this every time you meet? Is there no end? Don't forget, you're both part of the Green family. We prosper together, we fall together."
Although Tatum was a woman, everything the Green family had was built by her and Cody's grandfather together back in the day.
She wasn't an ordinary woman. In her youth, she had been someone whose word was law.
When she spoke like this, both Charles and Cody fell silent.
It was evening, and after the three of them talked for a while, it was time for dinner.
The servants had prepared a full table of dishes, and Tatum even had them bring out the wine she and Cody's grandfather had collected.
After a couple of drinks, Tatum brought up the subject of their marriages.
