Chapter One Hundred And Twenty Five

David

I rush over to the penthouse, and I see there’s a commotion on Max’s bed; he’s shaking uncontrollably, and blood is rushing out of his nose and his eyes. I know what is happening, this is the work of Dura. He’s killing Max.

“David! He’s dying!” Destiny shouts looking panicked and stressed as he tries to hold him down.

No, not he’s not dying because I’m not going to be allowing him to die. He’s going to live because he’s Maxwell Sharaf, he’s my mate, and he’s a very strong man, and I know he can survive this. I know he’s going to come back because he doesn’t give up easily. And I’m going to remind him that he doesn’t give up.

“Clear the way!” I say to the people surrounding Max, holding him down and they do exactly just that.

“David please save him.” Destiny pleads.

“I will,” I say bending one knee as I kneel next to him. “He’s also going to have to save himself as well,” I say and then I bring out my claws and Inject them into his head. I put all my energy into him because this is not just his life I’m dealing with but also his mind.

I can do this because I’m the uniter, and I was chosen by the Goddess Bastet for a reason also, if I want to save my parents, then I have to save my mate and fast. So I do all I can to get into the world Dura takes his victims to kill them. He’s not going to succeed, and Max is not going to be dying, not on my watch.

I’m not going to allow some annoying ass demon to take away the one thing that makes me feel whole because if I lose him I’m going to lose that wholeness. And that’s not going to happen, not on my watch.

I hear screaming and I open my eyes. I’m no longer in Max’s room, but I’m in what seems to be a temple surrounded by nothing but darkness. I’m not phased, and neither am I scared; I didn’t come here to cower. I came here to save the love of my life.

And the person screaming is Max; he’s the one that’s screaming profusely like that,, and it hurts to hear him scream in that manner. It just means that he’s in pain; either they’re killing him right now, or they’re torturing him before they kill him.

Tears flow down my cheeks.

“Max! Max, I’m coming, don’t worry!” I shout, and I think that is a mistake because the darkness that surrounds this temple forms demonic creatures with large horns and tails, and they hold dangerous weapons.

I don’t have a weapon like theirs. But I do have my claws which I bring out ready to fight.

“Oh, Dura I have had it with your bullshit.” I spit. “What are you guys gonna do huh? Dance ballet and call it a fight?” that angers them and they charge for me. I charge back running toward them with fearlessness.

I receive a sharp scratch on the back by one of the demons. I wince, but that will not stop me from doing what I came here to do, and that is saving Max. I fight violently. I kick one, and I punch the other; I dodge and attack, Inflicted by the large one, and I have a feeling he was the one who scratched my back.

So why not return the favour? So I scratch him back. I expect him to have a wound on the back, but he doesn’t. He dies instantly, turning into ashes. I look at my claws and I nod my head in approval.

I use the same tactic on one of the other demons, scratching them to their deaths. When I kill this set of demons, I move over to the next clan. As I look for Max, I’m killing them all with my claws. I knew my claws would be a much better weapon than their stupid devices. I am more powerful than all that shit.

Now that the demons are out of the way I go looking for the love of my life. I don’t hear him scream anymore which results in me screaming his name.

“Max!” I shout and shout panicking. No, he can’t be dead I won’t let him die right now.

And then I find him, he’s being lynched by these demons. And he’s dying, death is about to kiss him on the lips right now.

“No!” I yell and the demons whip their heads toward me to see me there. They leave Max and they rush over to me to kill me.

“ENOUGH!” I yell, killing the demons with ease, and then I rush over to Max. There are two spears inside of him. “Oh, Max.” I cry. “I’m sorry.” I remove one spear, and he doesn’t even scream or shout. He doesn’t even wince. He’s dying quickly. I remove the other spear as fast as possible. And then I grab him by the face his eyes are closing.

“Max, don’t die right now. You do not have the right to die. I will not let you. Max, please come back to me! Okay, you’re alright, you’re alright.”

Maxwell

I never thought I’d die a natural death because I have nine lives. I’ve always had nine lives such as the way of the werecat. It’s the way werecats were created. No werecat can die instantly; that’s until the gold sword was invented, and that’s until Dura came into the picture.

Now I am dead; who would have thought that? I mean, I could smell it; I could feel the end of the Sharaf family for a long time now. And I don’t know what’s going to become of Sara but she’s the last Sharaf. That’s all I know.

So now I don’t know where I am. This isn’t the temple where I was being held hostage; this is a different place; this isn’t Earth either because the sun is warmer, the air is smoother, the grass is greener, and there are buildings made of gold.

I bet this is heaven and I’m here now. I guess this is my new home.

I hear people laughing, and I follow the laughter, and then I see people playing by a polluted lake. It looks so clean and clear, and I don’t just feel like jumping in it; I also feel like drinking it. Why do I feel like if one drinks from that lake they’ll never be thirsty ever again?

I’m going to have to test that theory later. Right now, I’m admiring the people jumping in and out of the lake. They look so happy, they have no care in the world. There’s no danger here, so of course, they’re going to be happy and free and not worry about anything.

Some do a cannonball; others are dancing, going in circles in the water. I want to join them so badly right now. I know they’ll allow me.

Something or someone catches my eye, no two people. A couple holding each other. They’re both brown-skinned, shining under the sun. They look so sweet together but they also look familiar. I find myself inching closer and closer toward them, and then I recognize who they are.

Oh my God, it is them.

“Mom? Dad?” I say, and the couple looks back, and it is them; it’s my parents. Holy shit, it’s my parents.

“Maxwell!?” they both shout in unison.
