Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Amara
I could not believe that asshole and his guts. He actually thought that he could intimidate every woman that comes his way the way he has been intimidating my friend? By the moon goddess, I was trying my hardest not to suddenly go all out and punch him in the face because that was exactly what he would deserve. But something made me halt in my actions. I was the one who won in our little conquest and no matter how hard it is that he keeps trying to exert dominance, I was certain that he would be unable to get over what had happened.
I saw the look in his eyes when I had been speaking to him. It was literally murderous and I started wondering about Dera. Was this what she had to endure all these years? A single encounter was enough to make me spite him, not to mention someone that has had to live with him all her life. It was literally screaming control and lack of good characters. I despised him and I vowed that this was definitely the beginning because I would be here to always remind him that he is nothing but a female bully.
How on earth does a man who oppresses women expect that anyone would take him seriously?
"Is everything fine, miss?" Kayla asked me as I had been quiet since I got inside.
"Yes but can you help me find out more things about Alpha Isaac? I mean, I want to know all about him, especially on things that he dislikes and things that he is overseeing. I really need it down to what he has for breakfast." I said to her,
"He really seems to have provoked you, miss. I can do that and will get down to it as soon as I get home. I noticed how he was competing with you for that necklace. It would actually sit pretty on your neck but I heard something while asking around about him." She said to me,
"Well, spill. What did you hear?" I asked her.
"I hear he's married actually and that he's cruel to his wife. Some say that he abuses her and only treats her like a trophy. They also mentioned that he has a mistress from the auction who he flaunts in front of his wife." She said to me,
I was angry with that last part. His mistress was also here? Did I miss her or something?
"Wait a minute, was his mistress here tonight?" I asked her.
"No. They said because of him, she no longer attends. I could try looking into her too if you want." She said to me,
"Okay but his wife, do you know what she looks like?" I asked her.
"No, ma'am. Do you want to know about her too?" She asked me innocently.
"No. Don't check his wife." I responded.
The truth here is that Kayla has not been home and she has no idea that Dera was at home with me or I might have introduced them.. Kayla was just my work personal assistant and that was because she has been really helpful to me towards work. I still did not trust her enough to want to introduce her to Dera and I was hoping I would be able to keep up the act for a while. Dera did not need the publicity at this point as the key to the game was to lay low for the time being.
Eventually, I insisted on dropping her off at her home and she highlighted, thanking me for dropping her despite her asking that she go on alone. Now, I demanded that the driver take me to the ice cream shop where I used to get all my ice creams from. He drove there straight and in a really short time we were there. I got inside and I started placing orders. It was going to be a full stock as I wanted Dera to have enough to fall back on whenever she desired.
So, there we were, sorting all the flavours of that delicious nourishment as I recalled how we used to be. As soon as I was finished, the staff carried my order and stuffed it in my trunk before I started off again. It was straight home now with no plans to stop for anything as everything I wanted was with me.
I got home and came inside to find my dad in the sitting room. The servants were already taking my merchandise to the right place while I looked around for my best friend.
"Now, you have to tell me what that was you called me for." He said as soon as I greeted him after a hug.
"Yeah, sure thing but where's Dera?" I asked him.
"She's in her bedroom. I tried to get her to watch a movie but she said she was going to have a nap and I did not want to scare her. So I left her." He said to me, I could see this look in his eyes and I wanted to try not to but eventually I did interpret it as guilt. Seriously, he should not go around beating himself up because of her. She would certainly come around at the right time.
"Don't worry, dad. She's going to warm up to us soon." I said to him,
"Okay. So, what was that about?" He asked me.
"Well, I had an altercation with Alpha Isaac and gosh dad, you should have seen the look on his face. He did not even know who I was although I have a feeling he would soon enough." I said to him,
Instantly, his eyes clouded and I could tell he was angry. My father has always been rather protective of me and I always enjoy being his baby girl
"An altercation? Did that asshole touch you? Because I would make sure that I end his life whether or not he knew it was you. Tell me, Amara. What did he do?" He demanded as he was seeking answers.
"Calm down, dad. He was too scared to try and touch me, I can assure you of that. What happened was verbal and a bit of competitive interchange. But I will tell you more when you calm down." I said to him,
This got to him and instantly, his anger faded as he was calm. So, I started telling him my story on everything that had happened at the auction. He did not interrupt me at all but listened with rapt attention. His face kept glowing up with so much pride that I knew he totally approved of it. It got to the last point and while trying to mimic Alpha Issac's speech to me, he burst into a laugh. He was impressed that I had done that clearly.
"That was one hell of an auction. I am sure he would go home wondering about the woman that had embarrassed him. It's great to put him in his place although I worry that you go out there putting yourself out front. It could create enemies for you and that would literally scare me. I don't want him coming after you." He said to me,
"Dad, come off it. You're going to try and be overprotective knowing how I love to fly on my own? If his little ego is bruised, then I suggest he gets something to hold onto because I am barely finished. Besides, it's not like he'll dare anything. Everyone fears you." I said to him,
"True but I'm definitely going to want to protect my little girl." He said to me,
"Not that little. Well, how was your day spent babysitting?" I asked him.
He blinked suddenly and I started to wonder if there was a problem? With Dera and her fear around people, I was just hoping they did not have a misunderstanding.
"Well, it went well. Everything was fine." He said to me,
"How did Dera do?" I asked him.
"She was fine. She was mostly at the library and the garden. Found her by the daisies." He said.
"Right. Did I ever tell you that they were her favourite flowers?" I asked him.
"No. I totally had no idea." He responded.
"Well, if I did not know that you were not part of that discussion, I might have said that you planted them for her but I'm just kidding." I said to him,
"Well, I also did something fun. I bought off Alpha Isaac's dream company. I'm certain that right now, he's practically fuming at his home and seeking for someone to take the blame for everything that happened to him." He said.
"Wait a dang minute, you did what?" I asked him.
He repeated it and I could not believe my ears. The both of us were definitely related, no DNA needed. He was every inch as petty as I was and I was enjoying it. He said that he could not stand that a man would ruin a woman so much that she was now a shadow of herself
Which means he did it to make Alpha Issac pay for his crimes against Dera. This was going to go down as the best father and daughter moment in history.
