Chapter 22

Chapter 22

Dera

I was lost in the moment and I could not understand why this felt really great. It was like every entirety of my being wanted to stay with him and instead of judging myself, I wanted more. In my entire years being married to Isaac, I never knew that one could be kissed like this.

So in-depth and full of emotions that you never want it to stop.

This was literally being kissed with my legs swept off the floor. He was still carrying me and I was not even resisting. I kept trying to think about Amara and what she would think but I could not help myself. I tried everything to stop myself but it was impossible.

I thought to Tia that she might help me make the right move but she was in total sync with the moment. Which was when I decided that it was enough. Amara had left me with her father and in this short time, a couple of things had happened between us that were totally unplanned for. I was betraying my friend behind her back and I needed to cease it instantly.

So, with the greatest reluctance because my body was betraying me, I decided to pull away and look away.

"Oh my gosh. I'm sorry." He said and then slowly put me down. He was watching me to see how I would react but I could not even look at him. I mean, I was not scared or worried that I would disrespect him by doing so. Instead, I was more of the opinion that I was shy. I was blushing all over and it was over my best friend's dad.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall." I apologised. I mean, it was my fault that I had not calculated my move and I had to fall which prompted him to come to my rescue. I should have tried to do better at the very least and it was not his fault that he saved me.

'Oh my god, Dera. Could you stop blaming yourself already? You're already away from Isaac and you should be free now. I don't think Alpha Eric is mad at you. Look at his eyes!' Tia yelled through our mind link.

Seriously, if the moon goddess was missing her wolf crier, she needed to come check me out. Because it seems I got the wolf no one else would ever want to be theirs. She was a drama queen and I knew if they could be heard by others, she would have been the noisiest. My thoughts however were interrupted when he started speaking.

"An apology for falling? Come on, Dera. We're already past that. You didn't do anything wrong and I am glad I was there on time to catch you. If anyone is to blame, it's me for not yet changing that ladder to the one that connects with the shelves." He said to me,

Was he kidding me? An Alpha accepting that something was his fault? This was going to make one hell of a history book. I could not even imagine it but it was happening. But as he spoke, I did not look at him either as I could literally feel my heart tempting to slip out of my chest.

"It's fine. I made a mistake too. Can I go?" I asked him.

The atmosphere was becoming too hot for me right now and I wanted to go outside for some fresh air. I had been acquainted with their garden and I wanted to go cool off there, in the midst of nature. But he was not quite done with me as suddenly, he brought his fingers to my chin and tilted it up so I was looking at him. I tried to move my eyes but he totally blocked my gaze and I was already planning on closing my eyes so I would not disrespect him.

"You have such beautiful eyes and I don't know what they're always doing on the ground. Dera, I wanted to know if we're going to talk about what just happened? We kissed and I am really sorry. That never happens but with you, I cannot explain. Do you want to talk about it?" He asked me.

Talk about it? I mean, my husband of five years never talks about anything. He just takes what he wants from me by force and I have to learn to live with myself and the horror. Right now, I was not willing to talk about the one time that I had enjoyed a kiss. So, I would pass.

"No. I really have to go." I said and quickly turned away. I had just gotten close to the door when I turned again and went to pick up the book I had read before. I needed something to distract me at the moment and then I left.

As I moved, I actually feared that he would come after me or something but he was there, allowing me to process what had just happened between us as best as I could. This made me really wonder what kind of man he was because this was really strange to me. I would never have survived it if it was either my father or Alpha Issac. If I did not like what they were telling me, I would still stand there. I came out of the corridor and then the very first servant I met, I asked where I would find the gardens. I did not want to have to get lost in the castle again or bump into him or something that I was hoping to avoid. She directed me and I started off quickly.

I came to the garden and I noticed there was a section for daisies. This was strangely funny because I do recall that the last time I had been here, I made mention of how I would have daisies in my garden someday. That never happened with Alpha Isaac though. I observed the stems and I could tell these flower beds were old. I dared to wonder if someone had planted them for me and by that someone, I actually meant Amara and not her father. He had no business with me whatsoever and he would not care what flowers I loved.

There were seats at the garden for relaxing which was where I went off too and I stretched out on one. The moment I sat down, I started reaching for my lips slowly and a smile crept up on my lips as I thought of the moment that we had just shared. It had been such a wonderful moment that made me feel complete. Seriously though, why on earth was he the father of my best friend? I mean, he could have been Alpha Isaac instead and I was certain that I would never complain about him either.

I had been there for sometime when the scent of honey and cinnamon hit me and I turned to find him approaching me. Seriously dude, I left you because you are tempting and here you are coming to me again like some avenging angel.

Why not read the room?

He came straight to me and sat on the seat close to mine. I had to sit up quickly, my eyes doing the 100 meters.

"Here." He said as he handed me something.

It was the book that had led to the fall that led to the kiss. I took it from him but how did he know that was the one I was going for?

"Thank you, Sir. Listen, I'm really sorry if I ran out of the room in such a haste. I was really thinking that I made you uncomfortable...." I started explaining when he cut me off.

"What do you think of the daisies?" He asked me.

"The daisies? Um, they're really nice." I responded, confused at how easily he changed the discussion.

"Just nice? I heard they were your favourites." He said to me,

"Amara told you?" I asked him.

"Not her. A little bird. But I mean, they are rather beautiful and symbolic flowers and I would understand anyone loving them. I love them too." He said to me,

I was watching him as he spoke. This man was doing everything within his power to make me feel safe and calm around him and the least I could do was appreciate his efforts and enthusiasm.

"I guess they are pretty.  They were not here before though, did you plant them for a reason?" I asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, I have never planted any flowers myself because I have people doing that but these ones, I took in my entire efforts to make them stand and I still care for them. I planted them because a very special person to me loves them and I wanted to keep them to remember that person by." He said to me,

A very special person. Wow. That means he had someone. I really needed to get rid of my little teenage crush.
