Chapter 42: The night

Maxwell's eyes sparkled with curiosity as Electra settled into their table for two at the upscale restaurant. The soft glow of candlelight danced across her face, illuminating her radiant smile.

"You seem positively electrified today," Maxwell observed, his voice tinged with amusement.

Electra's eyes shone like stars, her enthusiasm irrepressible. "I am! Today, I finally get to meet Rachael Lee."

Maxwell's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You mean the Rachael Lee?" he asked, his tone incredulous.

Electra nodded vigorously, her ponytail bouncing with the motion. "The one and only – Rachael Lee, President of KT Company."

Maxwell whistled softly. "That's a big deal. What's the meeting about?"

Electra leaned in, her voice filled with excitement. "You won't believe the news. She's investing in our project, taking a whopping 25 percent share."

Maxwell's eyebrows shot up in incredulity. "KT, of all companies? They've been unresponsive to our messages despite being above them, let alone investing in other ventures."

Electra's eyes sparkled. "I was equally surprised. But she said she believes in us, in our vision."

Maxwell scoffed, his tone laced with skepticism. "That's hard to swallow. KT doesn't have a reputation for taking risks."

Electra's expression turned serious, her voice taking on a cautionary tone. "Perhaps we should consider this an opportunity."

Maxwell's gaze softened, his expression shifting from skepticism to warmth. "Enough about business. I've really missed you."

"I've been overwhelmed with work, to the point where even calls exhaust me," Electra said, her voice laced with fatigue.

"And you've been away for quite a while," she added, a hint of longing creeping into her tone.

Maxwell's eyes locked onto hers, his voice filled with emotion. "I said I missed you. I need to hear your reply."

Electra's lips curled into a playful chuckle.

"I guess you're not going to pressure me," she teased. "You know I've grown stronger, and I don't get attached to people anymore."

Her gaze softened, her voice taking on a gentle tone. "I know you're my boyfriend, but you should understand me."

Maxwell's smile was warm and understanding. "I guess I do understand you," he replied.

The air was filled with unspoken emotions, their connection palpable despite Electra's attempts to appear detached.

"Hey, how's work been treating you in England? Hope it's not exhausting you?" Electra asked with genuine concern, her eyes sparkling with interest.

Maxwell chuckled, his weary expression momentarily lifting. "It's a bit exhausting, but also refreshing. The change of scenery has done me good."

Electra nodded sympathetically. "Oh, I see. You deserve the break."

Maxwell's gaze turned thoughtful. "With New Year's Eve and Christmas approaching so fast, I was thinking... would you like to have dinner at my place so we can plan how to celebrate?"

Electra's face lit up. "I'd love to! I will definitely be there."

Maxwell's face broke into a warm smile. "Thanks so much, Electra. I'm really looking forward to it." He smirked, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Electra laughed, her eyes shining with amusement. "I'll bring the wine."

Maxwell's smirk deepened. "Deal."

The warmth of the invitation hung in the air, promising a cozy evening filled with laughter and conversation.

"Shall we plan for next Saturday?" Maxwell asked.

Electra nodded. "Sounds perfect."

"Should we spend some more time together drinking tonight?" Maxwell asked, his eyes sparkling with hope.

Electra glanced at her wristwatch, her expression turning apologetic. "I'm so sorry, Maxwell. I have to meet my daughter tonight. I promised her already."

Maxwell's face fell, but he quickly recovered with a warm smile. "Okay, then I guess we have to say goodbye for now."

Electra nodded, gathering her belongings. "I will catch up with you later, Maxwell. It was lovely seeing you tonight."

As she stood up to leave, Maxwell rose from his seat, his eyes locked onto hers.

"Give your daughter a hug from me," Maxwell said.

Electra smiled. "I will."

With a gentle nod, Electra turned to leave the restaurant. Maxwell watched her go, his gaze lingering on her retreating figure.

"Knoxville, I'm crossing my limit with her soon," Maxwell said with a sly grin, his eyes glinting mischievously. "Just to piss you off more.m

He paused, savoring the thought.

"But I need someone to spend the night with," Maxwell continued, his voice dripping with intention.

With a fluid motion, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Get me three ladies ready tonight. I'm going for a threesome," Maxwell commanded.

He hung up, his smirk deepening.

"It's time to have fun, Maxwell," he murmured to himself. "You've been busy playing that good boy for quite a while, and I guess you're good at it."

Maxwell chuckled, the sound low and seductive.

Tonight, he would shed his restraint.

The city lights outside seemed to pulse with anticipation.

Maxwell's phone buzzed. "The ladies will arrive at 10 PM," a sultry voice whispered.

"Looking forward to it," Maxwell replied. The night ahead promised decadence and excitement.

Maxwell's eyes gleamed with anticipation as he walked to his car, the night air pulsating with excitement. He slid into the driver's seat, started the engine, and pulled out of the parking lot.

The city lights blurred together as he drove to his favorite hotel, a haven of luxury and discretion.

Upon arrival, Maxwell stepped out of the car and handed the keys to the valet.

With confident strides, he entered the hotel lobby, its opulent decor enveloping him in sophistication.

At the reception desk, a poised receptionist greeted him with a warm smile.

"Welcome back, Mr. Maxwell. Your room is ready."

She handed him the room key, her eyes sparkling with familiarity.

"Thank you, Emily," Maxwell replied, his voice low and smooth.

He took the elevator to the top floor, the penthouse suite awaiting him.

As the doors slid open, Maxwell stepped into a world of indulgence.

The room was dimly lit, the city skyline twinkling outside.

A bottle of chilled champag

ne and three gorgeous women awaited him.

Tonight, Maxwell would leave his inhibitions behind. The night had only just begun.
