Chapter 41: Calm and Nice
Electra and Matthew stood outside the company, flanked by their employees, who were all buzzing with anticipation. They awaited the arrival of the esteemed Mrs. Rachael Lee, a business magnate renowned for her shrewd acumen and impeccable taste.
Suddenly, a sleek convoy of three cars glided into the company's parking lot, coming to a halt directly in front of the building. The employees straightened, their faces set with respect.
A burly guard swiftly exited the lead vehicle and hastened to open the door for Mrs. Lee. As she emerged, her poised figure commanded attention. Her tailored suit accentuated her confident stride.
The employees bowed slightly, their heads dipping in unison, before respectfully lifting their gazes to meet hers.
Electra and Matthew stepped forward, warm smiles spreading across their faces.
"Off, Mrs. Rachael Lee," Electra said, her voice infused with sincerity. "It's an honor to finally meet you."
Matthew echoed Electra's greeting, his handshake firm.
Mrs. Lee's piercing gaze swept the assembly, her eyes sparkling with a blend of warmth and authority. "The pleasure is mine," she replied, her voice husky and confident.
As she shook hands with Electra and Matthew, the atmosphere transformed, charged with the promise of a productive and inspiring meeting.
With a subtle gesture, Mrs. Lee invited Electra and Matthew to lead the way into the building, where a day of strategic discussions and innovative collaborations awaited.
Matthew escorted Mrs. Rachael Lee to the executive suite, nestled on the top floor of the company's sleek, modern building. The suite's elegant doors swung open, revealing a spacious, lavishly appointed room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking city views.
As they entered, Electra gestured to the waiting staff. "Please, have a seat, Mrs. Lee. We'll have your refreshments served immediately."
The waitress, impeccably dressed in a crisp uniform, poured Mrs. Lee a steaming cup of artisanal coffee and presented a selection of delicate pastries.
Mrs. Rachael Lee's eyes widened as she took in the suite's opulent decor – rich mahogany paneling, plush leather armchairs, and original artwork adorning the walls.
"This is far from what I expected," she said, her voice filled with genuine surprise. "I never imagined your company had an executive suite of this caliber."
Matthew chuckled, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Most of our shareholders react the same way. I wonder why they're always surprised."
Electra smiled knowingly. "It's normal, considering we're junior top twentieth in the industry. We've worked hard to exceed expectations."
Mrs. Lee's gaze lingered on the suite's stunning features – the gleaming marble conference table, the state-of-the-art presentation equipment, and the cozy reading nook with its carefully curated selection of business literature.
"I must say, you've certainly set a new standard," Mrs. Lee said, her voice filled with admiration. "I'm impressed."
Matthew and Electra exchanged a pleased glance, their confidence in their company's achievements evident.
"So, can we get to business now?" Mrs. Lee asked, her tone shifting from admiration to professionalism.
"Of course, ma'am," Electra replied, nodding.
Mrs. Lee leaned forward, her expression serious.
"I'm sure you're aware my son is the one who reached out to your company. That's unusual for him. Since I've taken over, he's never involved himself in company matters. He's focused on personal growth and development instead."
She paused, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"I'm surprised he took an interest this time."
Electra's eyebrows rose. "We were surprised too, ma'am. He even sent his personal assistant to meet with us."
Matthew, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. "His assistant seemed quite knowledgeable about our operations. We're curious about your son's intentions."
Mrs. Lee's gaze drifted between Electra and Matthew, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
Mrs. Lee's eyes sparkled with warmth as she leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone.
"Let's just say, my son has finally taken an interest in your company. Perhaps he's foreseen the bright future that lies ahead for you all."
Electra's face lit up with gratitude.
"We truly appreciate those words, ma'am. They inspire us to strive even harder and make our vision a reality."
Matthew nodded in agreement, his expression reflective.
Mrs. Lee's gaze shifted to Electra, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
"I love your calm demeanor and that beautiful smile, dear. You radiate confidence and poise."
Electra's cheeks flushed softly as she smiled.
"The pleasure is mine, ma'am," she replied, her voice infused with sincerity.
Mrs. Lee's expression turned thoughtful.
"I must say, I'm impressed by your team's dedication. My son's interest is not misplaced."
The room filled with the warm glow of mutual respect and understanding.
As they continued their discussion, the atmosphere remained cordial and productive.
Matthew rose from his seat, a courteous smile on his face. "Mrs. Lee, would you mind if we took you on a tour of the company? We'd love to show you our operations firsthand."
Mrs. Lee's expression turned apologetic. "I would have appreciated that, but I have other pressing business matters to attend to. I only came here today because I wanted to see things for myself."
She paused, her eyes scanning the room. "However, I will be back on the day you're launching the project. I'm eager to see the fruits of your labor."
Electra stood up, her movements fluid. "Alright, Mrs. Lee, it was our pleasure meeting you again," she said, her voice warm.
Matthew nodded in agreement. "We're grateful for your interest in our company, and we look forward to your return."
As they exchanged pleasantries, Mrs. Lee's assistant appeared at the door, discreetly signaling her departure.
With a final smile, Mrs. Lee turned to leave, her confident stride echoing through the hallway.
As the door closed behind her, Electra turned to Matthew.
"Well, that was enlightening," Electra said, her brow furrowed. "Looks like we have a lot to live up to."
Matthew nodded thoughtfully. "Let's make sure we exceed her expectations."
"Are you going to let her walk outside by herself?" Electra asked with a warm smile, already moving towards the door.
Matthew nodded in approval. "Go ahead, see her out."
Electra rushed after Mrs. Lee, matching her purposeful stride. Their heels clicked in unison on the polished floor, echoing through the quiet hallway.
As they reached the entrance, Electra held the door open, allowing Mrs. Lee to pass through first.
Outside, the crisp air carried the scent of freshly cut grass. Electra accompanied Mrs. Lee to her sleek, black sedan, parked discreetly at the entrance.
The chauffeur sprang to attention, opening the door with a respectful bow.
"Thank you, dear," Mrs. Lee said, her eyes sparkling with appreciation as she settled into the plush seat.
Electra smiled, waving goodbye as the car pulled away from the curb.
As the vehicle disappeared into the distance, Electra turned back to Matthew, who had joined her outside.
"Well, that was quite an impression," Electra said, her eyes stil
l on the receding car.
Matthew nodded thoughtfully, "She's so calm and nice, not how people painted her as harsh and cold"
