Chapter 30 What Is Necessary
Chapter 30 What Is Necessary
Kael's pov
I am a Lycan and if there is anything I hate more than death itself is sharing. I never believed that I would end up as a human as a mate.
But I pulled so close to her, badly that I couldn't control myself and no matter how much I tried to ignore the vampire by her side. It is never easy.
I was in the living room waiting for the both of them to be done with their conversation, but as it stretched out, so did I stretch out my hearing.
It was going well, that was the moment that I should have left, but I didn't, I waited for him to leave until I smelled it.
Her arousal!
“Fuck!” My wolf growled inside of me, my entire body became rigid with want for her, just the smell of her arousal could send me at the edge wanting her more than anything else.
I stood at the door staring at the both of them, his hands around her entire body and this made me so furious until she stared at me.
“What the fuck is going on?”
“You are free to join, or you can watch” Cassian spoke with a smirk on his face, Serena immediately tried to pull away from him but he held her tightly and it was obvious that all of this was an attempt to get on my nerves.
“Come on Kael, I know the both of you are not the best of friends, but you can join, you know…..”
She wasn't done talking but I didn't want to hear the rest of whatever she was going to say, so I walked over to the bed and dragged her out of there.
Serena stumbled while she tried to get on her feet, but it was clear that both she and Cassian didn't expect such a reaction from me.
But I didn't care, it didn't matter even one bit to me. I held her and once she had her foot properly on the ground, I forced her to stare at me.
“Look at me Serena, you have to make a choice, you are either going to accept the mate bond or we both go out separate ways, to which of them is it going to be?”
“Calm down, I told you that I am not going through make any choice because I don't even know what this is between you and Cassian”
“I am telling you that I am your mate, what else do you want to know!!” I growled, as my eyes flickered red, my wolf was so furious having to share with someone else And not to mention, someone that wasn't our mate.
I had been trying to shove him behind hoping that soon I could get Serena to be ours, but he took over right at this moment.
I saw the fear in her eyes, she drew back and I knew I had to calm down immediately.
“I am sorry Serena, that you had to see this side of me, but my Lycan and I needs our mate, please”
“I am here, I am right here for you Kael, what else do you want?”
“Accept the mate bond and let me mark you!” As soon as I blurted that out, I instantly regretted it. She was a human who was caught in this world so quickly and had no clue about all that was going on.
I knew that I shouldn't have spoken about it like that and the fear was visible in her eyes.
“I know that I might not know much, but I know the tales of Werewolves and I know what the mark of a werewolf means, not to mention that of a creature as powerful as Lycan and I don't want to get involved.
I felt my heart ache at that word, she might not know it, but that was pure rejection which hurt me immensely.
I lowered my head, the pain deep in my heart while thinking of what to say. “So you chose him?”
“I told you that I am not choosing anyone”
“That is what you just did since you rejected the mark of your mate”
I expressed and just then, Cassian stepped down from the bed and walked over to me.
“You need to calm down man, you should understand that she is still confused about all of this and your forcing her to make a choice doesn't make any sense”
Cassian spoke in a calm tone. I knew this was all an attempt to act reasonably in front of her knowing fully well that he didn't seem that way when he talked to me yesterday.
“Don't tell me what to do, you are a vampire and can have as many mates as you wish and it never a problem, I am a Lycan and I only get one mate in my entire existence, I have no clue why the moon goddess paired me with a human and I know that someone like you would definitely not understand”
“I guess you are right, but I still think that you should give her time, you need to” Cassian insisted but I turned to.
“I guess this is goodbye for the both of us then”
“What! Kael you are getting it all wrong, that is not what I meant” this time, there was a flicker of remorse in her eyes. She moved closer to touch me but I pulled away from her and started walking away.
“Ahhh!!!” I felt this sharp pain once I was out of her condo, my wolf calling out to her and his growl inside of me pierced my heart so deeply.
I was connected to Serena in so many ways that I couldn't comprehend but I knew that as long as Cassian was standing on the way. There was no way she would be able to be mine.
I stood outside, staring one last time at her home, the same home that I had helped in getting her and now, in order to fully claim what is mine, I knew it was time to do what was necessary.
