Chapter 192
Chapter 192
RYKER’S POV
I couldn’t take my eyes off her. The moment she hit the dance floor, I could see the hesitation in her eyes, but the older couple said something I couldn’t quite hear with the loud music, and she laughed. But that wasn’t what drew me to her. It was the way her hips swayed and the way she moved effortlessly on the dancefloor. And it wasn’t just me enthralled, soon the dancefloor thinned out, leaving a few people on the dancefloor while others watched in excitement, as they couldn’t take their eyes off. She looked so carefree, so alive. I didn’t know she could dance like that.
Goddess, she was flawless.
It didn’t take long for the guys to come circling. They came one after the other, trying to have a feel of her while she swayed her hips gracefully. She made eye contact, smiled, and made a don’t-come-any-closer sign with her fingers. One of the guys, a young handsome dude, moved towards her, holding her waist from behind, rocking his hips against hers.
“You dance amazingly well. I’m totally digging you,” He said.
“Thanks, hope you can keep up,” She said in between laughs. The two of them danced in sync, bodies gliding, his hands were placed on her waist and roamed to her hips as she moved in a seductive rhythm to the beat, they both synced, moving down low in impossible angles. The whole moves looked like a mating dance, like they were making love on the dance floor. I felt my wolf bristle inside me. Anger simmering beneath, I couldn’t help but walk towards the dancefloor, ignoring every curious stare. The guy released her briefly, holding her hand as she twirled, just the moment I got to the dancefloor. I didn’t waste a moment and pulled her closer.
“Ryker,” She gasped, surprise flashing in her eyes.
“Hey, man,” The guy attempted to come between us. “We were dancing,”
I didn’t need to say a word. I was already emitting a deathly chill enough to shut him up. He stopped in his tracks and winked at Lyra. “You’re a beautiful dancer.”
“Ryker, we were just dancing,” Lyra tugged on my arm as I pulled her off the dance floor, out of the bar completely.
“You could as well be fucking him right there,” I bit back, stopping in my tracks when I felt her stiffen slightly, anger fueling inside her.
“Lyra, I’m sorry. I didn’t like the way you guys were grinding against each other.” I turned to her.
“I was just having fun. Besides, he’s gay. Why do you think I let him close like that, knowing you were right there?” She glared and walked off towards our hotel room.
“Lyra, baby, wait. I’m sorry,” I had to rush after her. “Princess,” I called out, grabbing her arm.
“Ryker, can we just not do this?” She turned to face me. We were standing right outside our rooms.
“Can we talk? I’m sorry, okay,” I pleaded.
“Then talk.” She shrugged as she wrapped her arms around herself.
“Let’s go in. You’re going to catch a cold.” She turned towards our room, and we stepped inside. The warmth of the room envelops us both. As we stood facing each other, I couldn’t find the words.
She glared at me, then raised her eyebrow and sighed tiredly. “Are we going to talk?”
“Why are you mad at me?” I asked, pulling her close, closing the distance between us.
“Are you seriously asking?” She glared at me, but I could sense that she was slightly letting go of her anger.
“I’m not talking of tonight. You know what I mean,” I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She looked away slightly, refusing to talk.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” She looked back at me and tried to step away.
“But I do. I don’t like the silence between us. If I hadn’t spoken to Dimitri, I wouldn’t know you were here. You’ve been distant before I left. I just want to talk and make peace.” I couldn’t help but draw her closer.
“You really want me to say it? It’s everything with how you treat me. You say you love me, so many words, but when that Sophie girl tried seducing you, what did you do? You decided to create an excuse about trying to find some mysterious person no one cares about, while she kept coming on strong. You say you don’t want her, but you don’t show it enough because if you did, she wouldn’t have the guts to keep trying, and I wouldn’t have to be the talk of the ladies in court who think I have low self-esteem going after an omega you didn’t try to put in her place. Honestly, you make it hard to trust you.” She shook her head slightly. “Maybe that’s the way it’s going to be with you, or I’m asking for too much. But you don’t get to do that and prevent me from mingling with other guys. If you entertain others even in the most subtle way, why shouldn’t I?” She looked away. Her eyes flashed with anger.
“I was a fool,” I whispered, breaking the silence that came after her venting her anger and everything she had bottled up inside. She looked at me, and for a split second, everything stopped.
“I’m still a fool. I hurt you and misconstrue your actions, and I’m sorry. Lyra, I know I’ve hurt you a lot, but going forward, everything I do, down to my breath, will be all for you.” I watched her eyes flicker with emotion. She was stunned. She parted her lips to speak, but nothing came out, and Rider was already pacing inside me.
Just kiss her already. He growled.
I claimed her lips in a long, searing kiss. I had no idea when we got tangled in the sheets. When I finally let go of her lips reluctantly, she looked flushed. Her eyelids fluttered, and her swollen lips looked all the more exciting. I wanted her badly.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to me.
“You always said we never discussed our issues, and I always used sex to drown out the problems between us. I want you so bad, Lyra. I’ve missed every inch of you. But if you don’t want me making love to you tonight, then I totally will accept.” I managed to let out that part. Ezren had said I needed to understand her, listen to her, only then would she fall in love with me. And I want that. I want her to fall in love with me.
When she just stared at me, I took it as her needing space, so I decided to leave a bit, even though I didn’t want to.
“Where are you going?” Her sweet voice stopped me in my tracks just as I approached the door. When I turned to face her, she had climbed out of bed.
“You didn’t wait for my answer.” She paused and hooked her finger on the sleeve of her dress, letting it fall down her curvy body. My breath stopped at the sight of her.
“Your answer,” I found myself approaching her with a desire that threatened to burn me whole.
“I want you to fuck me. Fuck me like you’re sorry. Like you missed me. Like you mean it.”
