Chapter 57 WONDERFUL

Chapter 57 WONDERFUL
Aaron finally stopped trembling. I pressed my lips harder against his, even though I knew he wouldn’t reciprocate. I just wanted him to be fine.

Then his eyes opened.

They stared deep into mine. Yes, I had taken my lenses off. They had been irritating my eyes earlier.

“Celina,” he whispered, staring straight at me.

I didn’t say a word. I didn’t refuse him. I let him believe his fantasy. He wasn’t wrong.

I was her.

And I would always care about him. His lips parted like sweet surrender, letting me in.

I shut my eyes, feeling the brush of lips and tongues. It was strange, I liked it. It made me breathless, dizzy, yet it felt new.

Then the door opened.

Jaxon walked in.

My lips pulled away from Aaron instantly. I watched Jaxon’s eyes darken.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

A small smile curved my lips. “It was the only way to help him,” I muttered, clutching my jacket tighter.

Aaron had passed out. I turned to look at his face. He looked angelic, like the Aaron I used to know. My eyes softened.

More handsome, I thought but devilish awake.

Jaxon walked toward me and placed his hands on my shoulders, lifting me up. That was when I noticed it.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

His eyes brightened, though the hurt still lingered in them.

He was drunk. “Have you been drinking?” I asked.

A silky smile tugged at his lips. “Who knows,” he muttered, pulling me into a hug. As he got closer, I smelled it.

“You should let go,” I said softly.

His arms tightened instead.

“You’ve been ignoring me for weeks,” he murmured, nuzzling his nose into my neck. That small movement made me freeze.

“What are you doing?” I asked, almost yelling, trying to push him away.

“I miss you,” he muttered.

“I should get you hangover soup,” I said gently, pulling back.

But Jaxon’s hands caught my face. They were warm, soft. My cheeks heated instantly. My body refused to move.

“What are you doing?” I asked, staring into his squinted eyes.

“I’m staring at my heart,” he murmured. “Stay still.”

My lips parted.

“I know… I know,” I said, trying to pull away.
But he gripped my cheeks again, firmer this time.

“You have the right to love me, Celina,” he whispered. “No one else.”

My eyes darkened. “Don’t call me Celina anymore,” I snapped. I turned to check on Aaron, making sure he was still unconscious. Seeing his blank expression, relief washed over me.

When I turned back, Jaxon lips were on mine.

My eyes widened in shock as he pressed harder, trying to deepen the kiss. I shoved him away after a moment. His eyes filled with sadness, making my stomach twist. A low chuckle escaped me: nervous, and conflicted.

Then his eyes darkened. He collapsed against me. I felt his hot breath on my neck and sighed.

Great. I was now taking care of two grown men.

I licked my lips and gently shoved him onto the bed.

“I miss you,” he murmured. I smiled cheeky, but worried.

I turned to Aaron and carefully draped his arm over my shoulder, dragging his heavy body. I hadn’t realized how heavy he was. A sigh escaped me, I hadn’t even moved him halfway yet.

I finally got him onto the bed, but instantly regretted it when his arm hit the edge harshly. I rushed to his side, rubbing his arm gently and blowing on it.

I removed his shoes first and placed a pillow beneath his head. Then I rushed to Jaxon, removed his shoes, and covered him with the duvet.

That was when my phone rang. “Hello, Miss. Giselle is on the move,” a voice said.

A smile curved my lips. “Where?” I asked.

“At her uncle’s office. Asking for help again.”
I crossed my arms.

“Her uncle always takes care of her. He’ll take her side.”

The voice continued, “Also, look into Giselle’s uncle’s pharmaceutical company. Illegal chemicals are being used in one of their products. Complaints keep coming in, but they’re burying everything with money.”
I paused.

“I want to bring his company down,” I said calmly. “He won’t be able to help Giselle, he’ll be dragged down with her. He’ll resent her for it. It’ll create a rift between them.”
That would make infiltration easier. More evidence.

“Let’s meet again in three days,” I said, cutting the call.

My gaze shifted to my laptop, the watches I had given them earlier. They were wiretapped, hidden with micro cameras. Enough to gather everything about the shareholders.

From what I had managed to gather so far, the product in question was a skincare lotion, advertised to improve skin smoothness and silkiness. But recently, inside reports surfaced that those who tested it like lab rats had developed enlarged pores, deep bruises, and painful rashes. Yet even after multiple complaints, the company showed no intention of fixing the issue. Instead, they brushed it off as extreme budget: a careless excuse that makes my blood boil. For a split second, i felt foolish for ever thinking Finn was an upright man.

But gracefully, one of the infected female had secretly reached out to me desperate for help, begging for a cure, but before I can do anything, i need access to the lotion itself. I had to obtain samples. Only then can I break it down and create a cure.

I powered on my laptop and connected.
Giselle’s voice came through.

“Uncle, I did it because she disrespected me. I was just putting her in her place.”
Finn sighed.

“Please help me,” she begged.

He turned toward her. “How?” he snapped.

“Will find a way to say the video was edited. Or make Nelly say it never happened,” Giselle said.

Finn hesitated, Finn then nodded. “Fine. We’ll try both.”

She smiled brightly. “Thank you, Uncle.”

So this was how she wants to erase everything and cleared her name. But since I was here? That would never happen.

A slow, beautiful smirk curled on my lips.

Wonderful!
