Chapter 310 Exposing the True Face
Chapter 310 Exposing the True Face
"Adults are talking. Why are you butting in, you little kid? How rude!" Kaitlyn's voice wasn't quiet, and everyone turned to look at her. Only then did she realize she'd messed up.
But at that moment, Sophia, whose expression had been relatively calm, turned to look at her with a suddenly darkened face, her brows tinged with coldness, as if she were looking at a dead thing.
Sophia's emotionless gaze made Kaitlyn inexplicably panic.
Knowing Sophia's habits well, Lyra quickly covered Emily's ears and quietly reminded James and Michael to cover their ears too.
Emily was already quite familiar with Lyra and Sophia's routine.
James and Michael exchanged glances and obediently covered their ears.
"Ms. Davis, are you very polite?"
"Seducing someone else's husband, showing up here in a wedding dress as a mistress—is that something to be proud of?"
"You're shameless, but do you have to come out and ruin people's meals? How wicked."
Sophia's blunt words made Kaitlyn's face turn pale.
"Philip..." Her fragile and helpless appearance could easily win a man's heart and make him stand up for her.
Lyra sneered, "Is my goddaughter someone you can comment on?"
Kaitlyn's fingers clutched Philip's clothes tightly, trying to get warmth and support from him, but she never received his care.
Sophia and her group's location were seated in a relatively secluded spot in the restaurant.
Originally, not many people had noticed them.
But Philip and Kaitlyn, one after another, coming in and heading straight for them, attracted the attention of other guests in the restaurant.
Comparing the videos and photos on social media, and looking at what they were wearing, it was obvious they'd just come from a wedding.
In the already quiet restaurant, beneath the elegant music, Sophia's cold questioning rang out.
Sophia called over the bodyguards to take the children out through another exit first.
Once the children were gone and she had no more concerns, she directly slapped Philip across the face and said coldly, "Philip, you can't control your lust, and can't control your woman's mouth either?"
Kaitlyn cried out, "What are you doing! Philip, are you okay? Does it hurt?"
The crisp, unhesitating slap and the sting on his face brought Philip back to his senses. He looked sharply at Sophia.
Before he could question her, Lyra stepped forward and slapped his other cheek.
She sneered, "Did Sophia say anything wrong?"
"Lyra, that was all a misunderstanding. The video is fake. Cheryl and I didn't..."
Philip anxiously tried to explain the video to Cheryl.
Sophia lazily lifted her eyes and calmly retorted, "What misunderstanding? Mr. Banks, did your pants fall off by themselves?"
As her words fell, the surroundings fell into silence.
The other guests who had been eavesdropping couldn't help but want to give Sophia's comment a thumbs up.
Philip, left speechless, looked no less pale than Kaitlyn.
Sophia walked toward Kaitlyn with an imposing presence and strong pressure. With each step she took, Kaitlyn fearfully retreated one step, her eyes uneasy, not daring to meet her gaze.
"Kaitlyn, why didn't you bring your son back to the country with you?"
Her words were like cold water suddenly poured down in winter, freezing Kaitlyn until she trembled, yet she didn't dare refute.
Sophia's cool-toned perfume drew closer and closer to her.
"Or are you afraid... that your Philip would mind that you had a child for another man?"
Philip looked at her in shock, "What are you saying?"
Kaitlyn's face had turned completely pale, her lips bitten hard.
She shrank her shoulders and hid behind Philip, forcing herself to suppress her inner panic as she said, "I don't know what you're talking about, Ms. Johnson. You and I have no grudge. Why target me like this?"
Sophia only needed to take half a step forward, and she immediately cried out in fear, her whole body shrinking behind Philip.
No matter what, she was someone Philip had liked since his youth. Philip reached out to block Sophia, warning, "Sophia, don't push your luck."
Sophia looked up, "This is pushing my luck?"
"Mr. Banks, you don't know, do you? Your dream girl has more than just that one video."
Her gaze turned to the bloodless Kaitlyn, and she smiled as she continued, "To keep your man under control, you secretly record videos every time, right?"
"Those several terabytes of videos are your retirement fund, aren't they?"
"If those men knew you set them up like this, how would they deal with you? The video of Brock that Cheryl played today was the leverage you used to threaten him into sending you abroad back then, right?"
With her secrets exposed, Kaitlyn's limbs went numb, losing all strength. She could only tightly grasp Philip, her lifeline, and not let go.
"Ms. Johnson, you really just say whatever. I know you're capable, and forging some videos would be easy for you. I'm weak and powerless; I can't compare to you. I can accept being wronged, but I absolutely won't accept you slandering my reputation!"
With red eyes and refusing to admit anything, she really put on a good performance.
The doubt in Philip's eyes faded a bit when he saw Kaitlyn like this, and he continued to speak up for her.
Sophia rolled her eyes at Philip in speechless contempt, ignored him, and leaned down slightly, moving close to Kaitlyn's ear.
She stirred up trouble, saying, "Do you know who released all those videos? Your sister Cheryl. She's already replaced you in Philip's heart."
Kaitlyn was furious and deeply regretful!
Back then, she had brought Cheryl from their hometown just to use her crudeness to highlight her own uniqueness—even if they were both born in the mud, she was still a cut above her.
Who knew Cheryl would ask Philip to let her enter the entertainment industry, and deliberately get plastic surgery to look five or six parts similar to her!
Kaitlyn's heart was full of rage!
But she was more afraid that Sophia would say something else, so she quickly pulled Philip to leave. But Philip had come to explain things to Lyra and wasn't willing to leave with her at all.
The situation gradually reached a stalemate.
Lyra forcefully pushed Philip away from beside Sophia and looked at him with great disgust, "Philip, you're rotten to the core."
She held Sophia's hand and continued speaking to Philip, "You knew all along that Kaitlyn's death had nothing to do with me, didn't you?"
Seeing Philip's face suddenly change, Lyra sneered. "You just wanted to trap me by your side, watching me sink into a whirlpool of self-blame and internal conflict, never able to climb out of your control, like a dog at your beck and call, satisfying your arrogance, right?"
"It's ridiculous that I couldn't see your true face in the past." Lyra gave a self-mocking smile, her hatred for him growing stronger.
Philip opened his lips, wanting to speak but not knowing where to start.
Looking at the cold and sarcastic Lyra before him, he inexplicably thought of what William had said to him: Regret is the most worthless thing.
After addressing Philip, she turned to look at Kaitlyn, her voice full of sarcasm, "You don't need to put on an act in front of me either. You think I didn't know what kind of person you were back then? Not exposing you doesn't mean it didn't exist."
"You and Philip are a perfect match. I sincerely wish you two stay together for life and don't go harm other people."
Lyra pulled Sophia's hand and left.
In the elevator, seeing Lyra's chest heaving with anger, Sophia patted her shoulder and said, "It's all in the past."
But Kaitlyn's disaster wasn't over yet.
Cheryl, jealous that Kaitlyn had taken all of Philip's attention as soon as she returned, exposed everything she knew on the internet.
It had quite the flavor of righteously turning against one's own family.
Meanwhile.
William, who had received Emily's tearful voice message, had shown no change in expression while treating his wounds, but the moment he heard Emily crying, his face instantly changed, his eyes going cold and harsh.
Mark hurriedly said, "Mr. Smith, your wound isn't finished being treated."
"Arrange the nearest flight back to Empire City." William tied the bandage that wasn't yet properly secured, put on his jacket, and headed for the door.
But just as the car started, it was hit by another car that came charging across, denting the front. William looked sharply at the man in the other car.
