Chapter 112 Are You Okay?
The awkward thing now is... Sophia is lying on her side on the floor, holding Emily in her arms.
On the other side, William's expression changed slightly.
Emily, nestled in Sophia's arms, didn't hear any other sounds for a while and couldn't help but open her eyes.
Emily looked to the left - it was William.
Looked to the right - it was Sophia.
Emily looked confused.
She turned her head to look left, then turned to look right, then reached out and pulled off the eye mask William was wearing.
The sudden light made William squint.
James crouched on the nearby sofa, covering himself with a blanket, while Michael hid by the side of the sofa with wide eyes.
Finally adjusting to the light, William found himself face to face with her at close range, able to clearly see the fine, soft hair on her skin.
This distance...
Before William could say anything, his cheek was pushed away by a soft little hand, and Emily struggled to sit up between them.
She huffed indignantly, "I'm getting squished!"
At the same time, Sophia grabbed William's hand and pushed him away, sat up and pulled down her clothes at the waist, glaring at him.
She picked up Emily and sat on the sofa. James immediately came over with concern, "Mom, are you okay?"
Michael ran to William's side and crouched down, trying hard to help him up, "Dad, did you hurt yourself from the fall?"
William went along with his effort and got up, his left leg slightly bent, arm resting on it, the green eye mask still on his face, covering one eye.
The sofa was right next to him.
Helped up by Michael to sit down, William patted Michael's head, "I'm fine."
Seeing her eye mask still on William's face, Sophia couldn't help but remind him to take it off.
Although it wasn't a very private item, it still felt strange somehow.
The silk eye mask was soft and smooth. William remembered that this eye mask was part of the same set as Sophia's dark green pajamas.
He reached out to hand it to her, "Here, giving it back to you."
Sophia pressed her lips together, "Just throw it away, I don't want it anymore."
William nodded, "Then I'll keep it. I haven't been sleeping well lately, and I really need a light-blocking eye mask."
With that, he put the eye mask in his pants pocket.
Sophia fell silent.
He walked to the cabinet at the entrance of the living room, where the gift bags sent by his bodyguard were placed.
"I brought back some gifts for you and the kids from this trip abroad."
For James, he bought the second volume of a foreign novel he liked to read, which the original author had just finished writing and had only recently been printed.
The author even wrote a personal blessing for James.
James's eyes lit up, "Thank you, Dad!"
Michael's favorite was toys. William brought him back the latest Transformers model and other limited edition popular toys.
Michael couldn't put them down, "Wow! I love them so much, thank you, Dad!"
The toy he brought back for Emily was a custom-made pink fox, covered with pink little diamonds that sparkled brilliantly under the indoor lights.
Emily's eyes widened, and she happily hugged him.
Emily blurted out, "Thank you, Daddy!"
William was also stunned by Emily's bright and clear "Daddy." As he watched Sophia quickly carry Emily away for a talk, a thoughtful look appeared in his eyes.
Sophia carried Emily to the other side and said to her in a low voice, "Emily, don't call him Daddy anymore."
Emily blinked, looking a bit troubled at the pink diamond fox ornament she was holding. She really loved it so much.
She held up the ornament, "But what about the little fox..."
Knowing Emily liked it, Sophia didn't make her return it.
Sophia kissed her tender cheek and said, "If you like the little fox, keep it. Mommy can pay William for it."
Emily's eyes lit up, and she nodded happily.
Soon she ran off to the playroom with James and the others who were unwrapping their gifts.
"How much is the fox ornament? I'll transfer the money to you."
"No need."
"It's too expensive. If you won't tell me, I'll estimate the price myself."
Sophia looked down to transfer money to William, but William snatched her phone away, his voice tinged with displeasure.
"Is it that any gift I buy for Emily, you have to pay for it?"
She looked up and met his eyes, "Give me back my phone."
William simply raised his hand high. With his 6'3" height plus his arm length, Sophia wouldn't be able to reach it even if she jumped.
But she had a stubborn personality.
She kicked off her shoes and stepped directly onto the sofa, jumping slightly to grab the phone in his hand. William leaned back to avoid her.
"William!"
Sophia grabbed William's shoulder with one hand to keep him from leaning back, stood on tiptoe, and used her other hand to grab his arm holding the phone.
The leather sofa cushion was slightly slippery, causing her ankle to suddenly twist. She fell towards the table.
William quickly caught Sophia in his arms, his strong arm gripping her soft, slender waist.
She only felt a pain in her chin as it hit his shoulder.
Sophia didn't bother trying to grab her phone anymore. She used both hands to push against William's shoulders.
