Chapter 85 Chapter 86
The morning started like any other. The air was fresh, the baby was asleep, and Savannah was busy arranging flowers in a vase near the dining table. Adrian had gone out early, saying he had a few errands to run. She didn’t think much about it.
She hummed a quiet tune while the sunlight poured through the big window, lighting up the whole room. The house was calm, filled with the faint smell of Aunt Lisa’s breakfast muffins. Savannah smiled as she placed a yellow rose in the center of the vase.
After a while, one of the maids came in with a grin. “Madam, sir said you should get ready. He wants to take you out.”
Savannah turned, surprised. “Out? Now?”
“Yes, ma’am. He said it’s something special.”
She frowned but smiled softly. “Alright, give me a few minutes.”
She went to her room, changed into a simple white dress, and brushed her long hair. She didn’t want to overthink it. Maybe he wanted to cheer her up, or maybe he just wanted them to spend some time together.
When Adrian came back, he was dressed neatly, wearing a light blue shirt that made him look calm and handsome. He smiled when he saw her. “You look beautiful,” he said simply.
She laughed softly. “You’re just saying that.”
He shook his head. “No, I mean it. Come on, let’s go.”
They drove for a while until they reached a quiet garden outside town. It was filled with flowers, fountains, and small lights hanging from the trees. The place looked magical. Savannah stopped walking for a moment. “Adrian, this place…”
He smiled. “Do you like it?”
“It’s beautiful,” she said, turning around slowly. “It feels like a dream.”
He walked beside her, quiet for a while, watching how she looked around with soft eyes. He had planned this moment for weeks. He wanted it to feel simple, but full of meaning.
They sat under a small tree, the wind playing with her hair. He looked at her, really looked at her, and saw how far she had come. The pain she once carried had turned into peace. The fear had turned into strength.
“Savannah,” he said softly.
She looked up. “Hmm?”
He smiled, nervous for the first time. “Do you remember when we first met?”
She laughed. “Of course. I fainted, and you looked so worried.”
He chuckled. “Yes, and I didn’t even know your name back then. But something told me you were meant to stay in my life.”
She tilted her head slightly. “Adrian, what are you saying?”
He stood up, brushed his hands against his trousers, and took a deep breath. “Savannah,” he said again, and his voice grew deeper. “You came into my life when I least expected it. You taught me kindness. You made my house feel like a home. You made me smile again.”
Her eyes softened, and she blinked, unsure what he was trying to say.
Adrian knelt down slowly on one knee.
Savannah’s eyes widened. “Adrian… what are you doing?”
He took a small box from his pocket, opened it, and inside was a simple silver ring that sparkled softly in the afternoon light.
“Savannah,” he said, his voice shaking a little. “I don’t just want to be the man who takes care of you. I want to be your husband. I want to be beside you every day, through everything. Will you marry me?”
For a moment, the world stopped moving. Savannah stared at him, frozen. Her heart began to beat so fast she could barely breathe.
“Adrian…” she whispered. “I— I didn’t see this coming.”
He smiled, eyes gentle. “I know. But I mean every word.”
Tears filled her eyes before she could stop them. She looked at the ring, then at him — the man who had stood by her when she had nothing, the man who never judged her, never walked away.
“I don’t know what to say,” she said softly.
“Say yes,” he whispered.
She covered her mouth, trying not to cry. “Adrian, I’m scared.”
“Don’t be,” he said, still on his knee. “You’re not alone anymore. You and our little boy are my family. I will protect you with everything I have.”
Her heart melted. She looked down at him — the man who had loved her gently, without asking for anything in return. Slowly, she nodded.
“Yes,” she said, her voice trembling. “Yes, Adrian. I’ll marry you.”
His eyes lit up with pure joy. He stood and slipped the ring on her finger, then pulled her into his arms. She felt his heartbeat against hers, strong and steady.
“I love you,” he whispered.
Savannah smiled through her tears. “I love you too.”
The baby let out a small cry from the stroller beside them, as if joining in their moment. They both laughed softly.
Adrian kissed her forehead. “Looks like someone just blessed our union.”
She laughed and wiped her tears. “Maybe he did.”
They spent the rest of the afternoon walking through the garden, hand in hand. The air was calm, and the sun slowly began to set, painting the sky with gold and pink.
Savannah looked at her hand again, at the simple silver ring. She couldn’t stop smiling. For the first time in a long while, her heart was full — not with fear, but with hope.
Adrian watched her every move, his heart overflowing. He couldn’t believe this woman, once broken and lost, was now his fiancée.
As they drove home later that evening, Savannah leaned on his shoulder, the baby asleep in her arms.
Adrian whispered, “I promise to make you happy every day.”
And she smiled, her eyes heavy with sleep, whispering, “You already have.”
That night, the stars shone brighter over the mansion. Love had found its way again — quiet, strong, and pure.
