Chapter 51 Chapter 51
It had been two weeks since Savannah moved into Adrian’s mansion.
Every morning she woke up to the sound of birds outside her window, not shouting from neighbours or the noise of the streets like before. The air was calm, the bed was soft, and the smell of flowers filled the room.
The maids treated her with care and respect. They greeted her every time she came out of her room. They always smiled and made sure she had food before she asked. Savannah was not used to such treatment. Sometimes, she would sit on the edge of her bed and look around, wondering if it was all a dream.
Adrian had gone to work most days, but even in his busy time, he always checked on her. He would call or send someone to bring her fruits and milk. She never understood why he cared so much, but deep down, it made her heart warm.
That afternoon, she was resting in the sitting room when she heard footsteps. Adrian came in, smiling lightly. Behind him were two maids, each holding big shopping bags.
Savannah sat up, confused. “What’s all this?”
Adrian looked at her softly. “You’ll see.”
He nodded to the maids, and they began to open the bags one after another. Savannah’s eyes widened. Inside were baby clothes—tiny shoes, little caps, soft blankets, small socks, and beautiful dresses. There were also clothes for her, soft gowns and slippers.
Her mouth opened slightly as she stared at everything. “Adrian… what is this? You didn’t have to…”
He smiled a bit. “I wanted to. You and the baby deserve it. You have nothing to worry about here. Everything you need is already taken care of.”
Savannah felt her chest tighten. Tears filled her eyes before she could stop them. She looked at all the little baby things, the tiny white socks in her hands, and she began to cry quietly.
Adrian walked closer. “Hey, don’t cry,” he said softly. “I didn’t mean to make you sad.”
She shook her head, wiping her tears. “I’m not sad. I’m just… no one has ever done this for me before. I don’t even know what to say.”
He sat beside her, his voice calm. “Then don’t say anything. Just rest and let me handle things. You’ve suffered enough.”
Savannah looked down, her tears still falling. “You’re too kind, Adrian. I don’t deserve this.”
“You deserve peace,” he replied simply.
There was silence for a moment. Savannah kept staring at the clothes, imagining her baby in them. The thought made her smile through her tears. For the first time in a long while, she felt hope.
Adrian stood up to leave but paused at the door. “If you need anything, just tell me,” he said gently. “Don’t ever hide what you feel.”
Savannah nodded, still holding one of the baby dresses. After he left, she sat there for a long time, touching every tiny cloth, feeling every emotion she had kept locked for months.
In that quiet room, surrounded by love she never asked for, Savannah finally whispered, “Thank you, Adrian.”
Her tears dropped again, not from pain this time, but from peace she never thought she would feel again.
