Chapter 237 Chapter 237

The next morning was quiet, but the peace didn’t last long.
Savannah was still resting in the hospital when Detective Henry came in with serious news. Adrian sat up straight, holding her hand tightly.

“We caught most of the people,” the detective said. “But Cassandra escaped last night. She tricked one of the guards and ran. We believe she’s planning something dangerous.”

Adrian’s heart dropped. “You mean she’s still out there?”

Henry nodded. “Yes. And we think she won’t stop until she gets what she wants.”

Savannah’s hands started shaking. “She’ll come for us again,” she whispered. “I can feel it.”

Adrian stood up, angry and scared at the same time. “She won’t touch you again. I’ll make sure of that.”

Nathaniel, who had been sitting quietly in the corner, spoke up. “We need to end this now. Before she hurts anyone else.”

Henry agreed. “We’ve been tracking her phone. It seems she’s heading toward the old factory at the edge of town. We’ll surround the place tonight.”

Adrian turned to Savannah. “You’re not leaving this hospital until I come back, do you hear me?”

Savannah nodded, tears in her eyes. “Please be careful, Adrian. Don’t let her win.”

He kissed her forehead softly. “She won’t. This ends tonight.”

Later that night

Rain started falling as police cars surrounded the abandoned factory. The air was cold, and thunder rolled in the distance. The factory was dark, but lights flickered inside.

Cassandra stood by a broken window, her hair messy, her eyes wild. She was holding a gun, breathing heavily. “They took everything from me,” she muttered. “Everything.”

When she heard footsteps, she turned sharply — it was Adrian, wearing a bulletproof vest, with Nathaniel and the police right behind him.

“Cassandra!” Adrian shouted. “It’s over! Drop the gun and surrender!”

She laughed, a bitter, broken sound. “Over? You think it’s over for me? I lost my family, my pride, my life — all because of her!” She pointed the gun toward the door, where Savannah suddenly appeared, weak but brave, holding onto the wall for balance.

Adrian’s eyes widened. “Savannah! What are you doing here? I told you to stay at the hospital!”

“I couldn’t stay away,” she said softly. “I want this to end too.”

Cassandra’s hand shook as she aimed at Savannah. “You should have died when I had the chance!”

Savannah didn’t move. “Killing me won’t change the past, Cassandra. You’ve already lost too much. Don’t lose yourself too.”

For a moment, Cassandra’s eyes softened. A tear slid down her cheek — but then she shook her head and screamed, “No! You ruined me!”

The gun fired.

Adrian ran fast and pushed Savannah to the ground. The bullet grazed his shoulder. Pain shot through his body, but he didn’t care. He turned and tackled Cassandra to the floor as the police rushed in.

The struggle was short. The officers pulled the gun away and pinned Cassandra down. She kept screaming as they dragged her out, her voice echoing in the rain.

Savannah crawled to Adrian, crying. “You’re hurt! Oh my God, you’re hurt!”

He smiled weakly, blood soaking his sleeve. “It’s okay. It’s just a scratch.”

Nathaniel came closer, helping Adrian stand. “You saved her again,” he said quietly. “You saved us all.”

Adrian looked at Savannah, who was sobbing into his chest. “I’d do it again,” he said softly. “For her… always.”

That night, as the police cars drove away and the rain finally stopped, Savannah and Adrian stood together under one umbrella.
The nightmare was finally over. Cassandra was gone, and peace was slowly coming back to their lives.

Savannah rested her head on his chest. “I just want to go home,” she whispered.

Adrian kissed the top of her head. “Then that’s exactly what we’ll do.”

They didn’t need more words.
Just peace, love, and the soft sound of rain washing away everything dark that had tried to destroy them.
